When in Need of Wisdom

O. T. #1366  "When in Need of Wisdom"

Psalm 119-Part 15
How sweet are Thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Psalm 119:103

LET IT GLOW

Stanza 13, verses 97-104

Where can we go for spiritual nourishment? When our soul is hungry and thirsty for substance to keep us going throughout the day, throughout the trial? How do we hold on with hope? God's Word is a must-have in order for us to grow in faith and obedience as we walk along in life. It is our milk, bread, solid food, and sweet dessert as our key verse says.
What can be sweeter than honey? Oh, there are a few fruits and pastries that would be in competition. Now, when the Little Debbie plant up town is baking those honey buns, I can taste it in the wind. (Without calories, too. Best kind, huh!)Yummm! Getting back to our topic, honey is so sweet to the taste buds in the mouth.  Nothing like it on a hot biscuit. Folks, David was so in love with God's Word that it was sweeter than honey. Would you agree that was sweet?

Rick Warren said in his book The Purpose Driven Life:
The Bible is far more than a doctrinal guidebook. God's Word generates life, creates faith, produces change, frightens the Devil, causes miracles, heals hurt, builds character, transforms circumstances, imparts joy, overcomes adversity, defeats temptation, infuses hope, releases power, cleanses our minds, brings things into being, and guarantees our future forever! Never take it for granted. You should consider it as essential to your life as food. Job said, I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily bread.
Amen Brother Rick! Are you reading Scriptures during breakfast or shortly after?

LET IT GROW

Could you use some wisdom today? I sure can. It seems like David touches on the topic often. What we needed wisdom for yesterday may be a totally different thing we need it for today. The good news is that God's wisdom does not run out.

What can we glean from today's words?
  • David delights in loving the law of God so much that he meditates on it all day long. (verse 97)
  • It make him wiser than his enemies. (verse 98)
  • It gives more understanding than David's teachers. (verse 99)
  • It provides more understanding than the ancient men before David. (verse 100)
God's Word gave David more wisdom than teachers and ancient men of the Word.
True wisdom goes beyond knowledge. It comes from allowing what God teaches us to guide us. Intelligent or experienced people are not necessarily wise. (Life Application Study Bible)

James 1:5 LASB, says, If any lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him.

There we go, friend. God says, "Just ask."

LET IT GO

Father, I need some wisdom concerning this and that.
Thank You that You will supply it.
