Psalm 119-Part 22
Great are Thy tender mercies, O LORD: quicken me according to Thy judgments.
Psalm 119:156
LET IT GLOW
Stanza 20, verses 153-160
You know we don't deserve them, God's tender mercies. We don't receive what we deserve. Our mistakes, wanderings, self-sufficiency, cold heart surely do not merit mercy. Or am I the only one?
There is nothing we can do to clean up our messes, but Jesus can and does.
Showing tender mercies is part of God's nature. They are many and great, a fountain that can never be exhausted. He is rich in mercy to all that call on Him. (Matthew Henry)
So many around us are in need of God's great tender mercies.
LET IT GROW
Cling to Jesus, come what may. David continued his prayer in this stanza. What did he ask for God to do?
- Consider mine affliction, and deliver him (verse 153)
- Plead his cause and deliver him (verse 154)
Previously, we discussed David's request for God to quicken(revive) him. According to God's Word, judgments, and lovingkindness, David desired it achieved.
Every day we are in need of being revived. His Spirit washes over us, cleansing our sins, and making us clean when we ask.
Don't be shaken, beloved. Our hope is in Jesus, the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Let His lovingkindness flow in and through us to others in need.
LET IT GO
Fill me with Your lovingkindness and let it spread to others.
I need Your tender mercies today, Jesus.
