Is It Time?

O. T. #1369  "Is It Time?"
Jan. 18, 2019
Psalm 119-Part 18
It is time for Thee, LORD, to work;  Psalm 119:126a

LET IT GLOW

Stanza 16, verses 121-128

What is David teaching us today?
*Each of God's commands is right. (verse 128)
*God fulfills His promises. (verse 123)
*God's love is unfailing. (verse124)

We know those things, right? It doesn't hurt to be reminded of them, though.

LET IT GROW

This is a prayer of David.

Life Application Study Bible explains:
The psalm writer asked for discernment. Faith comes alive when we apply Scripture to our daily tasks and concerns. We need discernment to understand the Scriptures and to identify the areas of our lives where we need to apply its teachings. The Bible is like medicine-it goes to work only when we apply it to the affected areas. As you read the Bible, be alert for lessons, commands, or examples that you can put into practice.

For what is David is asking?
  • to not be left to the mercy of his enemies (verse 121)
  • a guaranteed blessing (verse 122)
  • the arrogant not allowed to oppress him (verse 122)
  • to see God's rescue (verse 123)
  • to be dealt with by God's unfailing love (verse 124)
  • to learn God's decree
  • discernment (verse 125)
Another thing, David considers it is time for God to work (act). (verse 126)

The psalmist discerned that the time had come for God to move into history, for the Messiah to come, for a work of salvation to be done among sinful men. (Falwell)

However, it was several centuries later that the Messiah, Jesus Christ, appeared.
Maybe we can ask God if it is time for Him to work in our family, in our life for a specific thing to happen. Just a thought.

LET IT GO

God of unfailing love, would you work in my family today?
Nobody loves us like you do, with Your amazing grace.

  2. So true my dear friend.
Yes Jesus loves me, the Bible tells me so. That is who we are-loved. The beloved ones of the Creator.
    Can it get any better?
