Psalm 61
LET IT GLOW
Have ever been out west where the mountains are made of rocks? They are extraordinary to see. Looking up at them too long can give you a crick in your neck. Utah especially has gorgeous ones. David was looking up to a rock, but it was a different kind.
King David was fleeing from his son Absalom who was attempting to dethrone him. David was away from his capital city and Tabernacle. Was he far from home whenever David wrote this psalm? Did that mean God was far away, too? God is not restricted by geographical locations. God is always with us. David's heart was overwhelmed, so what does he do? He cries out to God in prayer.
David asked God to "lead him to the rock that is higher than he was. Who is the rock? It is Jesus Christ. We cannot get upon this Rock unless God by His power leads us. By prayer and faith we are under divine management. God never changes. His ways are rock-solid. Are we trusting this Rock?
LET IT GROW
To whom did David seek shelter and was his strong tower (refuge)? Jesus
When will David sing praises to God? Forever, verse 8 tells us.
I could sing of your love forever Jesus.
LET IT GO
Jesus, be my Rock and Strong Tower. when life is shaking me.
