O. T. #1268  "Short on Time, Long on Need"
August 22, 2018
Psalm 70
Let all those that seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee: and let such as love Thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.  Psalm 70:4

LET IT GLOW

Desperate times call for desperate measures. David pleads for God's help to come quickly. He is dependent upon God for his deliverance.
Our key verse is a repeat of the same previously written in Ps.40:16. But repetition is good-that is how we learn. We are the such as love. We are the believers, a child of God, the saved.

NLT says this verse like this: But may all who search for You be filled with joy and gladness in You. May those who love Your salvation repeatedly shout, "God is great!"

Are we searching for God today? We find Him amidst His Word. He fills us with joy and gladness. In Him we have hope and salvation. That is why we can say, "How great my God is!"
Dear heart, we are not walking alone in this life. Jesus goes before us, guiding our steps.
His promises stand. Great is His faithfulness. You know what? He has never failed me. It is good to be reminded every now and then.

LET IT GROW

Help me Jesus! Haven't we all been there, whispering a short, yet sincere to the bone prayer? We cut the chase, getting to the point. Like David, we are afflicted and needy. Lord, don't delay; hurry to my aid right now. Deliver me this very second. Immediately would be good.

As Life Application Study Bible explains: This urgent prayer is short on time and long on need. Don't take God for granted and treat Him as a vending machine. Our prayers are filled with requests for ourselves and others, and we forget to thank God for what He has done and to worship Him for who He is.

That is desperation. He hears it in our voice. He sees it in our heart.

LET IT GO

Thank You Father for hearing my desperate pleas. You know my needs and provide as You see fit.
I praise You, loving Father. You are so kind and good and awesome!
Fill me with joy and gladness.
Your amazing salvation is amazing.
