Psalm 66
LET IT GLOW
Here's a change of pace. David wrote a song of praise to his God. It was intended for God's people to sing whenever they gathered to worship. What are we invited to do?
- Make a joyful noise to God. (verse 1)
- Sing about the glory of His name. (verse 2)
- Tell the world how glorious He is.
- Say to God, "How terrible art Thou in Thy works". Terrible means exceedingly great; mighty.
- Come and see the works of God. They are exceedingly great for His children.
This has been the talk of the town and in the news in our area. A young lady of 36 died quickly last week of cancer. She only found out a month earlier. She was an outstanding basketball player for a local high school and the university, then went on to play for a pros team. Before her death, her sister got saved and lead this girl to salvation in Jesus. Now that is what I call the mighty works of God.
Are we singing praise to our God who does mighty and exceedingly great works?
LET IT GROW
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. (verse 18)
There are several meanings for the word regard, but these apply to this verse-enjoy; see.
Is there some sin that we enjoy engaging in which the Lord sees in our heart? It could be a sin in our thoughts, words, or deeds. Dear ones, let us not harbor a secret sin.
Maybe it is unforgiveness of another that is hidden deep inside our heart.
At any rate, God does not answer our prayer until we confess it.
Our confession of sin must be continual because we continue to do wrong. But true confession requires us to listen to God and to want to stop doing what is wrong. Our attitude should be one of confession and obedience. (Life Application Study Bible)
Sin must be properly confessed (1 John 1:9) before God can effectually be addressed. (Falwell)
It is a good time to examine our own heart, then confess our sins.
LET IT GO
Praise God is song today.
Confess my sins.
