Psalm 59
For Yahweh is good, and His love is eternal; His faithfulness endures through all generations.
Psalm 100:5 Life Application Study Bible

LET IT GLOW

In spite of  Saul's continued pursuit of David and determination to kill him, David cried out to God for protection again. Even though David could not see God at work in his life, David vowed to watch for Him, trust and faith. Here we read of a grim detail of the behavior of David's enemies.

There were five words which David used to describe his confidence in God (some used twice). Here they are with their meanings included:
  1. Defense-a cliff; a lofty, inaccessible place; a high (fort) tower;(verse 9)
  2. Mercy-kindness; piety; (verse 9)
  3. Shield-a protector; (verse 11)
  4. Power-army, strength, virtue, valor (verse 11); force, strength, majesty; (verse 16)
  5. Refuge-retreat, an escape, way to flee; (verse 16).
Love can change to jealousy in the snap of a finger. It seems that is what happened to Saul after David had killed giant Galiath, and continued the rest of Saul's life.(People praised David, not King Saul.) Jealousy was the driving force of Saul as he desired to murder David for years. But David knew that God's love for him was changeless. His love is eternal. (Psalm 100:5)

Anyone in need of a place to flee to in time of need? Run to Jesus, our Refuge. He protects our soul from all the cruelty out there in the world. Let us stand our ground where hope can be found in Powerful Jesus.

LET IT GROW

Although all that was going on with David, he tells us about God's role in his life. It is one of  a stronghold, a refuge, and a source of strength. David learned to turn  negative circumstances into reminders of God's faithful presence. What stresses in your life might be transformed today if you made them a starting point for praising God? (Life Application Study Bible)

How would David praise God?
  1. He would sing.
  2. He would sing aloud.
  3. He would sing aloud in the morning.
  4. He would sing aloud in the morning unto God. (verses 16-17) Matthew Henry's Commentary

Singing is a natural expression of joy and thankfulness to God.
There we have it folks, our assignment for today.

LET IT GO

I like the words of this new song: Help me love the Healer more than the healing; help me love the Savior more than the saving; Help me love the Giver more than the giving. Oh, help me love You Jesus more than anything.

Great is Thy faithfulness Lord unto me.

Your love is amazing, steady, and unchanging. Your love carries me.
