Is It Time Yet?

O. T. #1273  "Is It Time Yet?"

Psalm 75

LET IT GLOW

"Is it time yet?" It is difficult for young children to understand the concept of time. They are anxious to get to go swimming, to a party, go to a park. They live in the present, in the moment. Waiting is not the easiest thing for them, nor is it for us adults. We want everything now, not understanding God's perspective about time.

Verse 2 gives us God's assurance that, When I choose a time, I will judge fairly.

Isn't God's timing better?  When He is ready, and it is His time, God will do what is needed. It's not what we like for Him to do that counts. Although we may be as impatient as children, we must not doubt the wisdom of God. Wait. In due time God will reveal His plan. We should be sure to not take matters into our own hands. [Resource: Life Application Study Bible]

I know that is not what I like to hear. Waiting is hard. Maybe that is because it requires faith, but we want to live by sight.

LET IT GROW

There are three metaphors the psalmist uses here:
  1. pillars of the earth (verse 3)
  2. horns (verses 5,6,11)
  3. God's cup of wrath. (verse 8)
God never looses control of the universe. Agree? In spite of physical, moral, and societal turmoil, He knows what is going on, and He has it all planned out. He is eventually going to judge everyone, believers and the wicked.

In the meantime, we should worship God, praise Him, thank Him, glorify Him. Jesus was lifted up on a cross. When we trust in Him, He will not let us down.

And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself. (John 12:32)

Will we lift Him up today in praise?

LET IT GO

Wait. Pray. Trust God.
Praise Him. Glorify Jesus. Give Him credit.
