Silence Is Golden

Mark 15

And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he
answering said unto him, "Thou sayest it." And the chief priests
accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
        Mark 15:2-3

LET IT GLOW

Often times I have "opened mouth, inserted foot". There are times when it
is best to not say a word. It would only make matters worse to speak.
Sometimes "Silence is Golden" as the old song of the '60's says.

The chief priests accused Jesus of many things, which the scripture only
tells us of a few. How did He respond or react? He said nothing. Was
Jesus one to keep His opinion or the truth to Himself? No, He wasn't.

Pilate asked Him again saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many
things they witness against thee. (verse 4)  Did Jesus answer this time?
No, again.
But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled. (verse 5)

How many times do I jump in to defend myself, even when the accuser
isn't finished talking? I admit that I need to listen, instead. Perhaps I
should follow Jesus' ways and "say nothing."

LET IT GROW

Verse 29  in NLT says: The people passing by shouted abuse, shaking their
heads in mockery."Ha! Look at you now!" they yelled at him. "You said you
were going to destroy the Temple and rebuild it in three days. Well then,
save yourself and come down from the cross!"

They continued to mock Jesus by saying,"He saved others, but he can't save
himself. Let this Messiah, this King of Israel, come down from the cross so
we can see it and believe him!"  (verses 31-32)

Jesus could have called 10,000 angels to take care of the situation and
get Him down, but He chose not to, because of His love for you and me.
He took our place so we won't have to pay for our sins.
How do I respond when people make fun of my Christian beliefs and ways?

LET IT GO

Discern when to speak and when to keep silent.
Respond with love when someone makes fun of my beliefs if need be.
