N.T.#549 "How to Follow Christ"
May 14, 2025
Luke 9-Part 6
LET IT GLOWs
To walk with Jesus is not an easy task and calling. After telling His apostles what to expect soon from His life and ministry, He challenged them to remain a faithful follower.
How is a disciple of Jesus Christ to obey His commands?
- A disciple must deny himself or herself. Following the Savior may or may not require depriving oneself of earthly pleasures. It is submission to His agenda, saying no to what we want and saying yes to what He wants. It is not obeying a set of rules or a specific philosophy. Christianity is absolute obedience to the person Jesus Christ.
- A disciple must take up his or her cross. Executioners forced a condemned person to carry the implement of death to the place of execution. The disciple had to do this daily.
- A disciple must follow Christ. It means to move behind someone in the same direction, come after. Do as He did, follow in His footsteps. Jesus' path led to death. Ours may or may not lead there, but true disciples must be willing to walk behind their Master regardless.

LET IT GROW
J.V.McGee asked this question, "What kind of Christian are you today? Are you one who acknowledges Him and serves Him and attempts to glorify Him (Jesus)?
Are we on the path of true discipleship? Do we daily submit to Christ's authority over our life, even to the point of suffering and death? Is anything holding you back?
Things to consider.
LET IT GO
Help us let go of the past and follow You today, Lord Jesus.
Definitely things to consider.
