LET IT GLOW

What does a disciple of Jesus look like?

• Denies their own self. They put Jesus' glory ahead of their own. 
• Takes up their cross. They put the will of God ahead of self. They deny self so others come before them.
• Follow Jesus, doing His will, His way. (verse 22)

Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of (Christ) will save it. (verse 23)

Do we have this radical commitment to Christ? It leads to an abundant life with God, walking with Jesus, that leads to heaven. Are we giving away our life for God's purpose?

LET IT GROW

For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world and lose himself, or be cast away? (verse 25)

In other words, whoever wants to save his physical life will lose his spiritual life; whoever turns over his physical life for God's agenda will keep his spiritual life. It's a matter of selfishness versing following Jesus in selflessness.

What profit is there to gain worldly things, yet loose eternal life in heaven?

Are you ashamed of Jesus and His Words? If so, then Jesus will be ashamed before the Heavenly Father. (verse 26)

Verse 27 refers to the 3 disciples who would experience the Transfiguration, thus a foretaste of the kingdom of God.

Are you a disciple of Jesus? Are you obeying Him and committed to giving yourself away? It is such a rewarding life when you do.

I surrender all. All to Jesus I surrender. I surrender all.
