Why so Far Away?

O. T. 1177 "Why so Far Away?"
March 26,2018
Psalms 10
Verse

LET IT GLOW

Have you ever felt that God was so far away from you? You are not alone, my dear. Isaiah, Job, and David felt that way, also.

Earlier, David declared that God was a refuge for the oppressed and in times of trouble. Now he asks God why he seems so far away, hiding. I wonder if that happens when God backs off so we seek Him. Just a thought. But He never leaves us nor forsakes us. We leave him. Sin and doubt separates us. Are you in the same boat?
Need some encouragement friend? Come with me and let us sit together at God's table, feasting on His Word. Jesus is our Bread of Life and Living Water for our soul.

Jump down to verses 16-18 and we see David's reassurance:

  • The Lord is King forever.
  • He hears the desire of the humble.
  • He prepares their heart.
  • God hears their prayers.
Is this a song of thanksgiving. Is our Lord the King of our life and over all? Jesus is all-powerful. Are we trusting Him today for our needs to be met? This King of Glory waits to serve us grace, love, and mercy overflowing. Take the Words to heart.

LET IT GROW

Throughout this chapter we read of David describing the wicked:

  • proud,
  • succeeding,
  • sneering,
  • cursing, lying, threatening,
  • ambushing, murdering, capturing the helpless,
  • thinking God was not watching them,
  • seem to think God was dead,
  • didn't expect punishment.

Falwell suggests David is describing the deceitful career of the Antichtist, who attempts to deceive the world, oppressing the righteous, lurking in hiding places for the saints.

David calls upon God to arise and lift up His hand (verse 12) and break the arm of the wicked and evil man (verse 15).

God sees, notes, bears in mind, never forgets, every act of wrong-doing that men commit, and especially acts of oppression. (Rawlison)

Note that the Antichrist cannot prohibit God's kingdom from being established. He cannot stop God's will from being carried out.

LET IT GO

Prepare my heart to worship You, our Lord and Savior.
Hear the desire of my heart.

Update on Wanda: She is in ICU as they try to get rid of infection around her heart. Doctors are meeting today to come up with a plan for her treatment. Surgery is likely in the future when she is strong enough.
Please continue to pray for her.
