Psalm 135-Part 2
They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them. Psalm 135:18
LET IT GLOW
This psalm began with a triple call to praise Jehovah, so it is fitting that it ends with a quadruple call to bless Jehovah. (Falwell's observation, not mine) It isn't limited to only the ministers to praise the Lord, but laity are included, also. Since God blesses His children, it is only fitting for His children to bless Him.
How has God blessed you today?
Our second grandson is 14 today. It is hard to take in how fast time is flying. He is a blessing to us.
LET IT GROW
Our key verse is speaking of those that make idols. They can be made into a small statue of worship or they can be a material object that take our attention away from God.
Life Application Study Bible has this to say:
Those who worshiped idols were as blind and insensitive as the idols themselves. They couldn't see or hear what God had to say. In subtle, imperceptible ways we become like the idols we worship. If the true God is your God, you will become more like Him as you worship Him. What are your goals? What takes priority in your life? Choose carefully because you will take on the characteristics of whatever you worship. The images were the work of men's hands, mock-deities. Let our worshipping a God that is a Spirit make us spiritual and wise. (Matthew Henry)
Wow! I never thought about becoming what I think about. Time to watch what I think about.
His love never fails, it never gives us, and never runs out. On and on it goes, as the song says.
LET IT GO
Praise and glory to the LORD on High.
Bless Your holy name.
Almighty God, You alone are worthy of worship and praise.
