Concerns and Confidence

Psalm 140
I know the LORD will help those they persecute; He will give justice to the poor. Surely righteous people are praising Your name; the godly will live in Your presence. Psalm 140:12-13

LET IT GLOW

Good morning everyone. It is good to be back with you again. We had a wonderful pilgrimage to the Holy Land. I will be adding personal details along the way as we continue our walk of faith in our native land. Oh how blessed we are.

Let's begin today by taking a look at our two key verses. In his cry out for deliverance, what is it that David, a hunted man, knows about the Lord?
  • He helps the persecuted.
  • He will give justice to the poor.
  • Righteous people praise the name of God.
  • The godly live in His presence.
Even when we are slandered, the Lord always cares that the truth is made manifested. The truth will prevail over time. Even when the poor have no money to defend themselves, the Lord will stand by them and ultimately bring justice. What comfort this brings. No matter what our situation may be, the Lord is with us. Isn't it our living by faith that brings God to our rescue? And His presence is our reassurance.

LET IT GROW

During our pilgrimage in Israel, our group rode a nice bus down from Jerusalem, to Jericho, then along the length of the Dead Sea, many miles. Along the way, opposite the Dead Sea were huge mountains. Now they were not covered with green grass like we find in our country. No, they were a light brown rock as if they were sandy covered. Our guide pointed out a cave where two specific mountains met. That was supposed to be the place where David and his 400 men were held up hiding from King Saul and his army. Saul went in to relieve himself and David quietly cut off a piece of his robe, later enquiring why he was pursuing David to kill him. David revealed that he could have killed Saul, but chose not to harm God's anointed king. Saul chased David for  about 13 years.
Now, look at this psalm in light of that.

What is David's concern here?
The violent, wicked, and evil men around him are his concerns. (verses 1-3)
He asks for relief as the Lord delivers him and protects him.

Those wicked people try to cause the righteous to fall. David asks God to thwart their plans and punish them.

Do we have unshakeable confidence in the character of God and the outcome of the righteous? After all, He is God and nothing is too difficult for Him.
What are your concerns? Do you have unshakeable confidence in God?

LET IT GO

Have faith in God with my concerns.
Have confidence in His deliverance.
