Psalm 37-Part 7
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken nor His seed begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. Psalm 37:25-26
LET IT GLOW
For years now, children have enjoyed the hot summertime getting wet on a simple piece of plastic. They run and fall on their belly as the stream of water carries them along. (What a simple invention that has provided hours of fun.) But if we believers are following along on God's path, then we will not slip and slide into sin. David tells us that today in our Scriptures.
This is a reassurance for us. Sure we have all seen hard time down through the years. Some were due to our own doings, yet some hard times were not. David went through some hard times while running from Saul for about 12 years. However, God kept him and his men going, providing food from various sources. As believers, we will not go hungry because there are friends and children of God around us to help. Even though our government has programs to help the poor, we should still do our part in helping the needy.
NLT version of verse 26 says, The godly always give generous loans to others., and their children are a blessing.
Are we considering our children a blessing? Even when they spill a bowlful of cereal and we have to stop what we are doing and clean it up? Cereal and milk can be replaced, but harsh words cannot be taken back. No reason to cry over spilt milk.
LET IT GROW
The godly offer good counsel; they teach right from wrong. they have made God's law their own, so they will never slip from His path. (verses 30-31 NLT)
Do we speak wisdom? Our tongue reveals our character. We will not slip and slide from God's ways nor the path He has us on when we know His Word. The key is staying in the Word of God, then living it out for others to see.
LET IT GO
Give generously to those in need.
Trust God to provide for us.
Stay on His path of righteousness.
