"Which is Most Important to You-God or Money?"

N.T.#602 "Which is Most Important to You-God or Money?"

Luke 16-Part 2

LET IT GLOW

Are we faithful and dependable in small and big things? Are we trustworthy and honest when it comes to money?

Jesus gives some negative connotations:

  • He that is unjust in the least is unjust much with money matters. (verse 10b) Our earthly resources should be used wisely and generously.
  • If we are unfaithful in unjust mammon, people will not trust us with true riches. (verse 11) God loans us money and possessions  for His service.
  • If we have been unfaithful in the use of another's money, then they won't trust us. (verse 12) We would be unfit to handle vast riches of God's kingdom.
  • We can't serve two masters-God and money, for we either hate and despise one or love and hold to another.  (verse 13)
LET IT GROW

No amount of money can provide us with health, happiness, or eternal life. We must be careful that money does not take God's place in our life, nor becomes our master.
What do we think about the most often? What causes us to worry? Are we spending more time in the Word or caring for possessions? Is it hard for us to give money away?

When God is our Master, then we servants have peace of mind and security now and forever. I like how this test of lordship of Christ puts it?
  1. Money belongs to God, not us; let us use our resources wisely.
  2. Money can be used for good or evil; let us use ours for good.
  3. Money has a lot of power; let us use it carefully and thoughtfully.
How did you do?
We must use our material goods in a way that will faster faith and obedience. It puts things in the right perspective, priority. Remember, the love of money is the root of all evil. (1 Timothy 6:10) If we desire wealth more than pleasing God, then we are on the wrong road.

LET IT GO

Open our hearts and hands, Lord Jesus, so we can be used for kingdom work.
May we show your love to others today.
