N.T.#583 "Are We Producing Fruit?"

Luke 13-Part 2
LET IT GLOW
Here is another parable which Jesus told. It was about a fig tree that bore no fruit. (verse 6) The owner ordered his worker to cut it down. (verse 7) However, the worker asked the owner to let him fertilize the tree. If it still bore no fruit the next year, then he would cut it down. (verses 8-9) Often, a fig tree produces figs in its first season, and in full production by its third year. This was not the case here.
This parable follows Jesus' exhortation that people repent of sin. (verses 1-5) If good fruit is absent from a person's life, some kind of judgment is certain. Inner repentance leads to an external demonstration of righteousness. Without fruit, professions of repentance are as genuine as a barren fig tree pretending to be healthy. (Resource: The Tony Evans Bible Commentary)
Do you know folks who are pretending to be right with God, yet their life shows otherwise?
LET IT GROW
The world is full of suffering due to humanity continuing in sin. We can see the open rebellion against God's Word and how it impacts others. Evil lives in the heart. We combat it with repentance and the grace of God. It is by God's grace that evil people are still alive. One day they will be cut down and thrown into the fire forever. All of us will one day stand before a holy God. Without Christ in their heart, they will answer for their sin.
LET IT GO
What are we needing to let go so we can produce fruit of the Spirit-love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faith?
