Isaiah 58-Part 2
LET IT GLOW
Previously, we discussed fasting. Isaiah continues it with the spiritual conditions God puts on fasting. Then, when God's conditions have been fulfilled, God's promises will be:
- His presence-light in the midst of darkness; light bursting forth to replace the darkness in our life; (verse 8)
- healing- these two promises are considered together, for God extends light and life to those who worship Him; (John 1:4-7) When we come to God, He forgives, restores, and heals us.
- protection;
- care;
- provision.
LET IT GROW
What are the true characteristics of fasting that pleases God, found in verses 6 and 7?
- A sacrificial love on behalf of other people. When we draw near God, then we will love and desire to help others.
- We help carry their heavy burdens.
- We help them be free in Jesus.
- We are willing to share food and clothing with those who are in need.
So check your burdens at the door, when you are in the Father's house. Check your shame at the door. They aren't welcome anymore. Your are in the Father's house. Failures are never final in the Father's house. Love is on the move when the Father is in the room. Love is breaking through when the Father's in the room. What a song.
LET IT GO
Thank You Jesus for setting us free from the burdens of our sins, love us unconditionally, and provide for our needs. May we in turn do the same for others.
