Isaiah 53-Part 8
Therefore will I divide Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong: because He hath poured out His soul unto death: and He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bare the sins of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
(verse 12)
LET IT GLOW
Keep in mind that Isaiah is prophesying what will happen to the Servant Savior, Jesus Christ, some 800 years later. Because God the Father raised His Son from the dead, He is now the resurrected Lord. He is our intercessory high priest, who began on the cross and continues in heaven. When we asked Jesus to be our Savior and forgive our sins, then He becomes our intercessor, seated at the right hand of God, the Judge.
A high priest in Israel would one day a year, on the Day of Atonement, go into the Holy of Holies and present the blood sacrifice for the nation of Israel's sins. Jesus is our high priest who did that for us. His blood was acceptable to the Father, so we do not need a priest today. The Servant Savior provided the way to God through His atonement.
The Father has exalted the Son to a place of supremacy, "seating Him at His right hand in the heavens" (Ephesians 1:20), and all those who trust in Christ are seated with Him, having access to His spiritual blessings (Eph. 1:3-14; 2:4-6). (Tony Evans)
Hebrews 7:25-26 explains, Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.
Today, when we pray in Jesus' name, then He presents our prayers to God our heavenly Father.
Do you know Jesus as your Savior?
LET IT GROW
This chapter ends with the glorification and exaltation of the Servant of the Lord Jesus. Because of the great work of atonement of Christ, then what has God the Father given His Son?
- He will allot Jesus a portion with the great. Jesus is highly exalted and His name is above every name.
- He will divide the spoil with Jesus. When a general of an army conquered or driven away their enemy, the victors took the plunder, divided the spoil. God's abundance of grace and comfort is bestowed upon all His faithful soldiers, us. The spoil He divides is to the vast multitudes of willing, faithful, loyal subjects.
- This happens because Christ has poured out His soul unto death. He has vanquished principalities and powers, sin and Satan, death and hell, the world and the flesh; these are the strong He has disarmed and taken the spoil of.
- Jesus was numbered with the transgressors.
- He bore the sins of many.
- He made intercession for the transgressors.
This is the Gospel of Isaiah. Now we sinners are acceptable to God, yet it is only because of the blood of Jesus Christ. We are made righteous through Him, our righteousness is a filthy rags.
Are you a part of the family of believers? Are your family and friends?
LET IT GO
Thank You Jesus for enduring the cross, the emotional and physical pain, because You love me.
Amazing Grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found; was blind but now I see.
Here I am to worship.
