Cheerful Words

O, T. #1459  "Cheerful Words"

Proverbs 12
A prudent man concealeth knowledge, but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
Proverbs 12:23

LET IT GLOW

It is time to take inventory of the words we have used this week. Think about where and how they are used-social media, emails, conversations, under our breath. What were some of the motivations for these words? Do they make us proud or ashamed? Words can encourage or cut us to the bone. Our words have great power for good or bad.

Wisdom is not just having knowledge but knowing when to share it. (Titania Paige, writer for Proverbs 31, First 5 App)

Our key verse shows us that by listening to others, we know if they are foolish or will take wise counsel. Then we can go from there.

LET IT GROW

What kind of power do our lives hold?
  • They can save lives. (v.6)
  • They help us escape from trouble since our words are not trapping us. (v. 13)
  • Bring healing, not cutting words. (v. 18-19)
  • Encouraging words cheers a person up. (v. 25)
Today, will our words bring healing and cheer to others?

LET IT GO

Help me to know when to speak and when to keep quiet.
Use my words to bring healing and cheer up others which I encounter today.
