Beware of The False Ones

Ezekiel 12-Part 4

LET IT GLOW

It's a winter wonderland outside our house. Ice is on the trees and weeds. I can say how beautiful it is because I am staying inside a warm house. Yet, temperatures are going to be below freezing for a week. It probably is in your area, too. We know our Lord is in control, so let's rejoice in being alive today, for this is the day the Lord has made.

Before we get into the gloom and doom, shall we look into the Word for some hope?

I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go. (Genesis 28:15)

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. (John 14:16-17, NASB)

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)

Rejoice and exult in hope; be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; be constant in prayer. (Romans 12:12, AMP)

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence. (Psalm 42:5, NASB)

"In Him we live and move and have our being." As some of your own poets have said, "We are His offspring." (Acts 17:28)

LET IT GROW

Well, here we go, jumping into this chapter with both feet. God's Word came to Ezekiel again so he could prophecy against the false prophets, pseudo prophets, and prophetesses in Judah.

Judgment was coming for those false prophets:

  1. they would not be in the council of God's people;
  2. their names would be wiped from the register of Israel/record books; (Ezra 2:62)
  3. the would never return to the land (20:38).

What were the false prophets doing to warrant such judgment?

  • Their prophecies were out of their own hearts, not out of the Word of God spoken to them.(verse 2) Therefore, they were inventing their own prophecies.
  • They follow their own spirit and imaginations, so they have seen nothing at all in visions from God. (verse 3)
  • They are like foxes in the desert, who only destroy. (verse 4) They are like jackals digging in the ruins. (NLT)
  • They told lies and made false predictions, giving people false hopes. (verse 6)
  • The Sovereign LORD did not speak to those false prophets, so He will raise His hand against them. (verse 9)
  • They gave a false peace and hope for God's chosen people. (verse 10)

We can see what the problem was-they did not warn of an upcoming destruction of Judah and Jerusalem, calling the people to repent of their idolatry and immorality.

Folks, we should beware of those who do not preach nor teach the Truth, God's Word. There are those who only tell of good things, how to get along with others, think positively, be self-reliant, and how wonderful we are. The thing is, we are all sinners in need of a Savior, Jesus Christ. Our good works cannot get us to heaven. Only admitting with God that we sin, asking His forgiveness, and trust in Jesus that is the only way to heaven and the Father. Have you done so, sweet one?

LET IT GO

Jesus, You are our joy, peace, and strength.

May we only proclaim the Truth, Your Word and Jesus.

Please bless all who come to read this with salvation, faith, hope, peace, and the love of Jesus.
