Thanksgiving Day is Coming! 

Nov. 23-24, 2022 

It is a busy time of the year, especially for the cooks. May we take time to recall what the meaning of this holiday is-giving thanks to our God. 

Praise ye the LORD, O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever,  (Psalm 106:1)

What can you thank the Lord for today?

Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy. (Ps. 107:1

Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! (Ps. 107:8)

And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing. (Ps. 107:22)

But our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased. (Ps. 115:3)

Will we thank our God for life and breath and every beat of our heart? Will we thank Him for salvation and eternal life with Him? Is Jesus Christ the one we serve instead of our self?

Grace and mercy are but a breath away; strength to carry on, too. 

Rejoice evermore, Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thess. 5:16-18)

So whatever we are going through, dear one, God is with us. Give thanks. Whatever lies before us, give thanks. 

Give thanks during this thanksgiving time of celebration. Don't let it pass away as just another holiday, or time with family. Give thanks with a grateful heart.

Happy Thanksgiving Day 2014!!!!!!

We have so much to be thankful for this year, don't we!

Billy Graham wrote a devotional:
During the first long winter for the Pilgrims here, 7 times as many graves were made for the dead as homes were made for the living. Seed, imported from England, failed to grow, and a ship that was to bring food and relief, brought instead 35 more mouths to fee, but no provisions.
According to today's standards, the Pilgrims had almost nothing, but they possessed a profound and heartfelt gratitude to God for His love and mercy. Gratitude is one of the greatest Christian virtues.

1 Corinthians 29:13 says, Now, our God, we give you thanks. And praise your glorious name.

As we sit around a table flourishing with food choices, let's remember who provided each item and the workers used to produce it:

• Turkey's growers, processors, and trucking system to the store for us to buy it. (God gave the turkey food and water and caused it to grow.); guys who fry or gals who get up at 4am to bake it;
• Mashed potatoes, with butter and milk- farmers who plant, water, pick potatoes, shippers and retailers, cows and farmers daily milk and feed the cows (God made the plant and grass grow through rain and sunshine.);
• Vegetables and fruit that God caused to grow and the farmer who worked it, picked it;
• Hot rolls-wheat that God cause to grow, farmers who planted and processed it, bakeries who made the dough;
• Pecan pie-God grew the pecans through rain and sunshine; processors and packagers.
• A warm house filled with family and friends;
• A loving God who made us, saved us, and provides for us.

As we thank God for the material blessings He gives us, let us also be thankful in the midst of trials and persecution. Remembering our military people and missionaries away from home this time of year.


Ok, friends, don't eat too much today. Right! Enjoy, relax, laugh, and say a pray of thanksgiving to God for your life (He made it.).
Friday we will continue our study.

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Our day is not going to be the traditional T-day. We are meeting my husband's brother and wife at a restaurant to eat and who knows about later(1st time). Our son and family are heading to Dallas to help box up for shipping out the shoeboxes for children, of whom I am proud. Our daughter has been baking pies with her kids, preparing for today. Wish we could be with them.
I did bake 2 pecan pies last week. We spent two days in Branson for R & R, celebrating our 41st anniversary. Had a great time.
So, I'd like to hear about how you spent today.


Psalm 100 says:
Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before His presence with singing,
Know ye that the LORD He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.
For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

My family has so much to be thankful for as I am sure yours does too.

Giving Thanks Early

With Thanksgiving coming Thursday, I ponder on what I am thankful for:

*a loving husband who has stayed faithful to me and with me for almost 40 years. Nov. 25 we
  will celebrate that anniversary! He is also faithful in serving God.

*a sweet daughter, who has given me 4 grandchildren and is carrying the 5th. She is teaching
  them the ways of God.

*a wonderful son, who is always looking out for me; allows me to spend time with his
  daughter; loves God.

* the greatest son inlaw who loves God, his family, and others.

*the most wonderful daughter inlaw who is growing in faith in Jesus, loves her family, and
  puts up with me.

*my extended families and their support.

*friends who share the love of Jesus around the world and here at home.

*our church family which loves God, His Word, and others.

*Most of all, I am thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, who created me 58 years ago, saved me 42
  years ago, and has never left me; for His love, forgiveness, mercy, and grace that are everlasting.

* for a free country in which I can read the Bible, worship my God, and serve Him.

* for you, who reads what I write.

I hope we don't wait until Thanksgiving Day to give thanks, but we do it everyday of our lives.
Psalm 100 is a favorite of mine. What is yours?

Well, friends, as you read this, I am leaving tomorrow to spoil my grandchildren, which I haven't seen in 1 1/2 years. So if I don't post the rest of the week, you will understand why, I am sure.(I am studying Jude, our next Book in the Bible.)
