Summary of Ezekiel-Part 10

Friend, are you dwelling in the secret place and abiding under the shadow of the Almighty God today? Are you fearful today, not sure about anything in your world? Has this pandemic caused you to hide? We are still in Psalm 91 today for encouragement.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. (verses 5-7)

Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. (verses 9-11)

Have you noticed that this unknown writer has used the names of God in these verses to encourage us to trust in Him?

• The Most High (Elyon)- verses 1,9
• The Almighty (Shaddai) and all-sufficient God
• Lord-verses 2,9,14
• God (Elohim)-verse 2

This is the God who invites us to fellowship with Him in the Holy of Holies! Those who abide in the Lord are safe when they are doing His will. (Wiersbe)

One more name for God is found in Ezekiel 48:35, the last verse this prophet wrote:

... and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there.

The divine glory of God will never again depart from the Temple and the new Jerusalem, for the LORD is there.

Is our hope placed in Jesus and His return to earth to reign as King? His rightful place is as King and Lord. There, in Jerusalem, new people with new hearts will worship the Savior in His holiness. What a wonderful place it will be.

May we not let the pressures of everyday life cause us to focus on the here and now, thus forgetting God. Worship brings things into the right perspective-this world is not our home. Heaven is our eternal home. This was brought clear to me this past weekend as we attended the memorial service of a close preacher friend, who passed away in January from Covid. Our time may be short on earth, so we must be about our Father's business.

Summary of Ezekiel-Part 9

Oh my, Psalm 91, the whole chapter, is filled with so much. May it speak to your heart as it does mine.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall delicver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.  (verses 1-4)

Is our security found in dwelling in the shadow of the Almighty God? With Him there is protection. As the baby bird takes refuge under its mother's wings, so can the believer who lives under the cover of God's covenant find safety.

When we think of how big our God is, then we should have peace being under His care. As I have shared before, one day I was outside and suddenly a huge shadow came over me. As I looked up, I saw an eagle flying above me. That experience made me realize how awesome it is for us to be under the care of Almighty God. If our God is for us, then who could ever stop us; and if our God is with us, what can stand against us? Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God You are higher than any other.

 

When Jesus comes back to earth to reign as King for a thousand years, there will be a new Temple for Israel to worship in located in Jerusalem. The Islamic Dome will be no more. The Temple will be a holy place where only Jesus Christ is worshiped, not idols. He will establish a new kingdom of love, then.

And He said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and My holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places. (Ezekiel 43:7)

Is Jesus your Lord and Savior? Are we going to Him daily for instructions on how He wants us to spend our day? Jesus is always walking with us, but are we walking with Him? Genesis 6 tells us that Noah walked with God. Even among a perverse and evil generation, Noah chose to live uprightly before God. Because of that, God chose Noah and his family to be saved from the flood. Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Let's stay close to God, even in the marketplace and on the job.

Summary of Ezekiel-Part 8

And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish Thou the work of our hands upon us: yea, the work of our hands establish Thou it. (Ps.90:17)

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (Ps. 91:1)

The Lord's beauty implies His delight, approval, and favor. By God's mercy and grace, one's life can have value, significance, and meaning. (MacArthur)

As a baby bird takes refuge under the wings of its parent, the believer who lives under the cover of God's covenant finds safety.

Because our days are numbered, we want our work to count, to be effective and productive for kingdom work. If we feel dissatisfied with this life, we need to remember our desire to see our work established is placed there by God. Are we applying ourselves to loving and serving God?

Looking at Ezekiel 36, we find:

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. (verse 26)

And He said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, Thou knowest. And again He said unto me, Prophesy upon these boned, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the Word of the LORD. (37:3-4)

First there was bone to bone clinking, then sinews, flesh, and skin covering them, and finally breath. What a unique vision and privilege for this prophet.

This vision Ezekiel had illustrated the new life and nation of Israel that was restored, both physically and spiritually. Those dry bones referred to  hopeless Jews in captivity, those scattered, and those dead. so it is with us when we have a dry spirit, feeling hopeless. God can restore us when we pray for renewal instead of giving up. His Spirit can bring us new life into our dry hopelessness and dead churches. God is always at work calling His people back to Himself.

So, will we keep praying, keep surrendering?

I raise up hallelujah, and watch the darkness flee; I'm going to sing in the middle of the storm, louder and louder, You will hear my praises. I raise up hallelujah.

Amen! I can't get over what You have done for me, Jesus! Breath of life, beating heart, no breast cancer; how awesome You are!!

Fill us with Your joy for life today!

Summary of Ezekiel-Part 7

Still looking at Psalm 89:

But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him: and in My name shall his horn be exalted. He shall cry unto Me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. (24, 26)

Nevertheless My lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer My faithfulness to fail. (verse 33)

Thou hast set our iniquities before Thee, our secret sins in the light of Thy countenance. (90:8)

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. (verse 12)

Our sins can be committed in public or in secret, but all are visible to Righteous God. However, His loving kindness and faithfulness is for us when we repent of our sins. He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) During our short stay on earth, we should pray for guidance to make godly choices. Once our time is spent, it is gone.

I realize this since yesterday was another birthday for me. How grateful I am to still be alive.

I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong: I will feed them with judgment. (Ez. 34:16)

We know we can turn to God for help. He is still in control and can transform any tragic situation into good for His kingdom. God gives strength to carry on and mends broken hearts.

Summary of Ezekiel-Part 6

We had a great weekend at my husband's reunion. We celebrated my father in law's 90th birthday. We had pictures of his 6 children and spouses in frames, a mug with the names of his grandchildren, and a throw with the names of his great grands. Many grandchildren were able to show up, also. I hope you get a chance this summer to enjoy family time together. It rejuvenates and fills your love tank.

Psalm 89 has so many great verses. Here are a few:

Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD,  in the light of Thy countenance. In Thy name shall They rejoice all the day: and in Thy righteousness shall they be exalted. For Thou art the glory of their strength: and in Thy favor our horn shall be exalted. For the LORD is our defense: and they Holy One of Israel is our king. (89:16-18)

We need to make sure that we as believers in Jesus have actions that show righteousness, justice, love, and truth, which come from God. Those traits show we are walking in the light of God's countenance. On the other hand, being unfair, unloving, or dishonest in actions do not come from God.

Horn means strong one, referring to the coming Messiah. We have God's power to accomplish God's will. The Spirit will help us accomplish spiritual tasks that exceed our expectations. Then we give Him the glory.

If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that. (James 4:15)

Are we living the abundant life? Abundant with challenges, running over with possibilities, filled with opportunities to adapt, alter, and change. I am convinced that is what Jesus meant for us to live abundant life. (Charles Swindoll)

Look up, child of God. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Look up. He is our strength, our wisdom, our meaning in life, for He is all we need, this mountain-moving God. No room for worry or doubt, for His love shines on us,  on this beauty day.

Summary of Ezekiel-Part 5

Take a look at Psalm 89:

I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations. For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: Thy faithfulness shalt Thou establish in the very heavens. (verses 1-2)

For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? Who among the sons of the Mighty can be likened unto the LORD? God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about Him. O LORD God of Hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto Thee? Or to Thy faithfulness round about Thee? (verses 6-8)

This chapter was written by Ethan the Ezrahite, who whose great wisdom was compared to that of Solomon (1 Kings 4:30-31)

There is none to compare our God with, for none is all-powerful, all-wise, and everywhere. He is so righteous and just, loving and truth. We should rejoice in Him and enjoy having God as our shield, as verses 16 and 18 say.

Now looking at some verses in Ezekiel, here are some significant ones to me:

I am the LORD your God: walk in My statutes, and keep My judgments, and do them; And hallow My sabbaths: and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God. (20:19-20

And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. (22:30)

So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the Word at My mouth, and warn them from Me. (33:7)

Folks, will we be the one to pray for Israel and America, confessing our sins as nations, standing in the gap, so God does not destroy us? Will we be the one to keep His Word and the Lord's Day holy? Will we be a watchman or watchwoman to warn sinners that judgment is ahead if they do not repent of sin and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior; and allow Him to change our hearts? Will we be the one?

Use us King Jesus to share Your love and Salvation today?

 

 

 

There is none like You, God. Our God is greater, our God is stronger, our God is higher than any other. Our God is healer, awesome in power, our God. And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us. And if our God is with us, then what can stand against us? 

Our only hope is to trust in our God, our anchor, when my sails are torn. Your love surrounds me, in the eye of the storm.

 

 

He Makes All New

Summary of Ezekiel-Part 4

Psalm 86 has more encouraging verses:

For Thou art great, and doest wondrous things: Thou art God alone. (verse 10)

Teach me Thy way, O LORD; I will walk in Thy truth: unite my heart to fear Thy name. (verse 11)

But Thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. (verse 15)

I will praise Thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify Thy name for evermore. (verse 12)

We can agree with David in that we are poor and needy. Our God is faithful and there is no one like the True and Living God. (verse 8)  He alone can perform supernatural works and wonders (verses 8, 10) David's devotion and obedience led him to live by God's truth and worship Him with his whole heart. (verses 11-12) How comforting it is to know God is compassionate, gracious, faithfully loving, and truthful with us. He was available to David and is available to you and me.

Now, take a look at some assurances God gave to Ezekiel for His people (and us):

I will establish My covenant with thee,; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD. That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord God.  (16:62-63)

Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? (18:32)

Life Application Study Bible says:

Ezekiel's solution to the problem of inherited guilt is for each person to have a changed life. This is God's work in us and not something we can do ourselves. the Holy Spirit does it. If we renounce our life's direction of sin and rebellion and turn to God, He will give us a new direction, a new love, and a new power to change. You can begin by faith, trusting in God's power to change your heart and mind. Then determine to live each day with Him in control. (Eph. 4:22-24)

We repent of our sins, then get a new heart as we trust in Jesus Christ. (If we do not repent, then God will judge us on our wickedness/sins.) As God deals with us individually, He is just and righteous to punish those who reject Jesus as Savior. After all, Jesus made the sacrifice for all sin for all people. But He is gracious and merciful in longsuffering to withhold punishment until this happens for some.

We can rejoice together if we have trusted in Jesus. I pray if you have not, that you will today.

Thank You Jesus for a new heart, soul, and mind.

 

 

Righteousness

Summary of Ezekiel-Part 3

Looking at Psalm 86, there are some fantastic verses:

For Thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon Thee. (verse 5)

In the day of my trouble I will call upon Thee: for Thou wilt answer me. (verse 7)

For Thou art great, and doest wondrous things: Thou art God alone. (verse 10)

 

Ezekiel had a very difficult and challenging call from God to deliver His messages and judgments upon Judah/Israel and pagan nations. Also, the new Temple, worship services, and Holy Land that will be during the thousand year reign of Jesus as King. If only Judah had repented of their sins of idolatry, then they would not have gone into captivity in Babylon, Jews would not have been killed, nor their land and Temple destroyed. However, God kept a remnant that loved Him and continued for the 70 years. He promised it and did it. Our God keeps His promises.

So here are some verses I highlighted during our study:

• Son of man, I have made /set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at My mouth, and give them warning from Me. (3:17; 33:7) If Ezekiel did not warn people, then he would be guilty of manslaughter, according to 3:18)
• I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you, and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh: That they may walk in My statutes, and keep Mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be My people, and I will be their God. (11: 19-20) Has Jesus given you a new heart and His Spirit?
• Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God: Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations. (14:6) Is God calling you and me to repent, admit we are a sinner in need of a Savior? Will we leave those things which keep us from giving our whole heart to God?
• Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it (a land of sinful people), they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord God. (14:14, 20)

Folks, we don't get to heaven because of grandma's righteousness or we have her Bible. Salvation and righteousness  are individually had. We must come to Jesus and receive His righteousness after we repent of our sins. Also, a priest does not merit us to heaven, nor does works. It is faith in believing what Jesus did on the cross. Jesus is the Son of God, who lived a sinless life, and became our Lamb that shed His blood for us to be made right with God. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus.

I pray for all who read these blogs to know Jesus and believers to be encouraged. Thank you dear ones for your faithfulness to continue to study the Word of God with me. May God bless you abundantly and beyond all that we think or ask.

 

What is to Come

Summary of Ezekiel-Part 2

In Psalm 85, we find these words:

Wilt Thou not revive us again: that Thy people may rejoice in Thee? (verse 6)

Show us Thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us Thy salvation. (verse 7)

I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for He will speak peace unto His people, and to His saints; but let them not turn again to folly. (verse 8)

Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. (verse 10)

Do you have God's faithful love and salvation, righteousness and peace in your life? It is only a prayer away, dear one. The Lord is kind and ready to forgive. These blessings will ultimately be established by the Messiah in His earthly kingdom rule. Earth and heaven will be united when Jesus Christ comes to reign as King. God gave Ezekiel several messianic prophesies:

1. the Lord, the sanctuary (11:16-20)
2. the wonderful cedar sprig (17:22-24)
3. the Rightful King (21:26-27)
4. the Faithful Shepherd (34:11-31)
5. the great purification (36:25-35)
6. the great Resurrection (37:1-14)
7. the great reunion (37:21-28)
8. the overthrow of Gog (38:1-39:29)
9. the Life-Giving Stream (47:1-12) (Pearson)

There are some key words or phases used by Ezekiel:

• son of man-over 90 times,
• Glory of the God of Israel or glory of the LORD-11 times in the first 11 chapters,
• Lord God-over 200 times,
• The Word of the LORD came unto me-49 times,
• I shall(will) be sanctified-6 times,
• The hand of the LORD was upon me-7 times,
• Know that I am the LORD-more than 60 times.

At the Second Advent, when Christ comes back to earth, Israel will be regathered and saved, her enemies destroyed, the Temple rebuilt, and memorial sacrificial worship instituted; and a reign of justice, equity, and peace will be established with Christ as the King. (Liberty Bible Commentary)

MacArthur divides this book into 4 sections concerning prophecies:

1. Jerusalem's Ruin
2. Retribution to the nations
3. Provision of Israel's repentance
4. Israel's restoration.

Ezekiel was living among the 10,000 exiles in Babylon. He had messages to give them, messages from God. In the future kingdom, Israel will have a new Temple, a new service of worship of Jesus, a new King, and a new Holy Land. What a wonderful time and wonderful place. Peace and love instead of evil will be in the peoples' hearts.

His Story For His Glory

Summary of Ezekiel

Before we get into the summary, let's look at the rest of Psalm 84.

For a day in Thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. (verse 10)

Doorkeeper means to wait at the threshold.

For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. (verse 11)

O LORD of Hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in Thee. (verse 12)

The Lord's favor and honor are available to those who live with integrity. His blessings provide both provision and protection, shining on them like the rays of the sun and sheltering them like a shield. Today, believers have the privilege of enjoying God's presence through His Holy Spirit who dwells in us, making us God's temple-individually and collectively. (Tony Evans)

Summary of Ezekiel

Ezekiel was a priestly prophet. When he was about 18, Babylon made their first invasion into Judah and carried away Daniel. They years later, they came again and took Ezekiel  with captives as exiles to be slaves, imprisoned, and settle in their own homes. The prophet was the latter, living by the River of Chebar.

In the first three chapters we read of Ezekiel's call and commissioning. His ministry lasted around 22-25 years. The Lord came directly to Ezekiel, and the hand of the Lord was upon him. (1:3) Ezekiel was a faithful watchman on the wall proclaiming what was to come to God's people and the pagans.

What do we learn about this?

• He gave were messages of doom, against foreign nations, and messages of hope.
• Those messages related to the character of God, His Holiness, the sinfulness of Israel, judgment to come, and individual responsibility, as well as restoration.
• Ezekiel had visions of a chariot of fire, cherubim, a roll or scroll, plain, Jerusalem, dry bones, and the future New Temple.
• There were symbolic actions taught by actual events and allegories.
• Prominent subjects included God as Sovereign Maker and His glory and majesty.

God warned His people what would happen if they did not repent of their idolatry and changed to worshiping Him. But we know they did not, so God sent the Babylonian army to Judah and Jerusalem. Ezekiel fearlessly preached the Word of God to the exiled Jew in the streets of Babylon. In addition, he told of God's love and power.

We must be careful to not be indifferent, rebellious, and practice idolatry. Will we commit our self to obey God, whatever, wherever, and whenever He asks and sends us? It may be across our street, at our job, in our church, or across the country or waters. We must be faithful to go and do whatever God has for us while it is day, for night is coming when no one can work (death).

Is our faith the size of a tiny mustard seed? God will reward it. He blesses our obedience. Share the story of salvation for God's glory.

 

 

Always There

Ezekiel 48-Part 3

LET IT GLOW

Has someone deserted you? Do you feel all alone? If so, read on to find the One who is always there, who never leaves, nor forsakes.

In Psalm 84, the psalmist sings of the descendants of Korah (second wife of Moses) refers to God as the LORD of Hosts, four times (verses 1, 3, 8, 12)

He is LORD of Armies, the all-powerful One who commands hosts of unconquerable angelic forces. (Tony Evans) 

God's omnipotence over all powers in heaven and earth is in reference here, as His angelic army is at His call. Can you imagine the joy of the pilgrims traveling up to Jerusalem to worship God in the Temple and celebrate one of the feasts?

Blessed (happy) is used 3 times to describe the worshipers. what makes them happy?

• They dwell in Thy house.
• They will be always singing and praising God. (verse 4)
• Their strength is in God.  (verse 5)
• The Valley of Weeping, Baaca, will become a place of refreshing springs. (verse 6)
• They will grow stronger. (verse 7)
• Everyone will appear before God. (verse 7)
• God is their shield. (verse 9)

Do we enter God's house with singing and praising of Him, not only on Sunday, but every day. (Ps. 100) Is God our strength to carry on? Is Jesus our refreshing spring of Living Water for our soul? Is He our shield of protection?

Everyone will one day appear before God. Are you ready? 

LET IT GROW

Here we are wrapping up a 5 month in-depth study of this book, where God allows the Prophet Ezekiel to look into future events. Isn't it great that during the Millennial reign of Christ Jesus Jewish people will believe He is the Messiah. We know that the first time He came to earth, they rejected Jesus as the Son of God and Savior. But during these future 1,000 year reign of King Jesus, they and all people, will serve His as Lord and King. Who is Jesus Christ to you, friend?

Israel drifted into sin because they began to erase the difference between holy and unholy, clean and unclean (Lev. 10:10), as well as becoming like the pagan nations around them. Jerusalem and the Temple was destroyed by the Babylonian army as God's judgment upon Judah/Israel. As children of God, we must be careful to not call evil good, and good evil, put darkness for light, and light for darkness. (Isaiah 5:20).

Then, during this new time, in the New Temple, the people will obey what God has told them in His Word. Rebellion, unbelief,  and idol worship will be no more. All people during this time will realize that for only Jesus paid the price for them. Do we stop and recognize all that Jesus did for us?

We just learned that the Promised Land will be returned to Israel's possession as it will be distributed among the 12 tribes of Israel. The grace and mercy of God will be seen and experienced as Israel receives a wonderful land, a perfect law, and a glorious Lord.

We found out that the glory of God will return into His Temple. Now, take a look at verse 35, the last verse in this book:

It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is There.  

The title is Jehovah Shammah, The LORD is There. This city will be under the perfect, righteous rule of its rightful King. It will be restored when King Jesus returns to claim His rightful place as King and Lord and establishes His Millennial Kingdom and reigns on the throne for a thousand years. Can we even imagine what that will be like? Peace, no sin, no jealousy, no strife, no killings, only loving, kind, and submissive to authority , people will live there. Wow! Heaven on earth because Jesus is there!

the Hebrew exiles must have wondered if the Lord would ever be with them again. Ezekiel shared this vision with those while still living in and under the Babylonian rule.

A new Temple, a new city, and a new people. Have you been made new in Christ through His accepting the salvation He provides? Will you come to the altar in your heart and submit to Jesus as Lord of your life today? Simply ask Him to forgive your sins and come into your heart. He will. (1John 1:9)

The pressures of everyday life may cause us to focus on the here and now and thus forget God. That is why worship is so important. It takes our eyes off our current worries, gives us a glimpse of God's holiness, and allows us to look toward His future Kingdom. God's presence makes everything glorious, and worship brings us into His presence. (Life Application Study Bible)

What a day that will be! Are you ready? Are your loved ones going to heaven, if His return lingers? We better get ready!

Ezekiel 48-Part 2

LET IT GLOW

Psalm 83:18 says, That men may know that Thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the Most High over all the earth.

Jehovah means Self-Existent or Eternal. Another Hebrew word of Jehovah is LORD.

The Most High God is sovereign over all the earth! He created it and has the right to rule over it.

It is time for God's people to call out [amen-so be it] in response to God, yielding and surrendering my will and my thoughts to God. (Dale Thompson, a preacher in my state)

Isn't that scripture what God kept repeating  in Ezekiel-that men, nations, and Israel/Judah may know He is LORD. It appears at least 60 times.

Is Jesus Lord of your life? Or do we keep controlling it?

 In verses 8-22, another description of sacred portion of the land included:

• the sanctuary (verse 8)
• the priests' portion (verses 10-12)
• the Levite's portion (verses 13-14)
• the city (verse 15-20)
• the prince's portion (verses 21-22)

This land, 25,000 cubits, was set apart for sacred use, a holy district (verses 8,9,20) Israel's land will be allotted to the 12 tribes of Jacob/Israel, except for the 2 sons of Joseph, and Levi's tribe in the Temple.

We see the faithfulness of God in keeping His promises as the sons of Jacob will get the Promised Land during the Millennial.

Ezekiel 48

LET IT GLOW

Let us be sure to remember those who have given their lives to preserve our free nation. Others gave limbs, like my father in WWII. Be sure to pray for those in our military currently, also.

In Psalm 79, Asaph wrote a song for worship. In it, he spoke of Jerusalem in ruins, heathen ruling, and believers killed.

We are become a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us. How long, LORD? (verse 4, 5a)

In the end, God's glory will be evident to all people, but in the meantime, we must endure suffering with patience and allow God to strengthen our character through it. We don't know why God allows pagan people to scoff at believers. We should be prepared for criticism, jokes, and unkind remarks because God does not place us beyond the attacks of scoffers. (Life Application Study Bible)

Then Asaph prays for the Lord to restore His reputation by bringing a worse destruction upon the enemies of Israel some 7 fold. (verse 12)

So we Thy people and sheep of Thy pasture will give Thee thanks for ever: we will show forth Thy praise to all generations. (verse 13)

Isn't that what we people of God and believers were created to do-give thanks always, in everything, for this is His will. Do we praise our loving God enough?

Can you believe it, we are in the last chapter of this prophets words and visions? On December 28 we began studying together the Words God gave to Ezekiel. Thank you for your faithfulness to persevere with me. this is actually the first time I have gone through an in-depth study of Ezekiel.

It starts out showing the fulfillment of God's promises to actually restore Israel's people form around the world to the Promised Land during the Millennial reign of King Jesus Christ.

First mentioned are the northern tribes of Israel to be restored: Dan (restored by grace, for they became idolaters), Asher, Naphtali, Manasseh, Ephraim, Reuben, and Judah. The 3 most northern tribes were the farthest from the Temple are the sons of Jacob's concubines. Dan and Naphtali were born to Bilhah, Rachel's maid; Asher was born to Zilpah, Leah's maid. Gag is the fourth son by concubinage, among the southern group. He is the farthest south.

Judah is the closest to the sanctuary. This tribe was the inheritor of the messianic promise through the blessing of Jacob. (Genesis 49) He superseded Reuben, the first-born, who was in the next closest position on the north side. Manasseh and Ephraim were the grandsons of Rachel, children of Joseph.

Southern land is to be given to the 5 remaining tribes of Benjamin, Simeon, Issachar, Zebulun, and Gad. Keep in mind that this is the future allotted inheritance for those blessed tribes of Jacob.

Do we keep our promises?

Ezekiel 47-Part 3

LET IT GLOW

 Psalm 78  contains songs written by Asaph, a Levite who led worship songs in the Temple.

But He, being full of compassion forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not; yea, many a time turned He His anger away, and did not stir up all His wrath. For He remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again. (verses 38-39) This is speaking of God's compassion for His sinful people, Israel. Many  a time God disciplined His children. Yet, there was always a remnant left. It was because Israel had been unfaithful in the  covenant they made with their God.

So he (David) fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands. (verse 72)

David, served as king of Israel, but he was a shepherd before that. He pictured Jesus as our Good Shepherd. (John 10)

Who do we picture to others? Are we full of compassion for others? Do we forgive them and turn away our wrath? Do we have integrity in our heart as David? Many a time God has forgiven us, so should we forgive others.

Beginning with verse 13, we read about the new boundaries of the new land in the world reign of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, during the Millennium. Israel's land will be divided and distributed to its 12 tribes. However, the tribe of Levite will not have land, and tribes of Joseph's two sons Ephraim  and Manasseh will be blessed with his inheritance. This will be the fulfillment of God's promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The borders given here were originally given to Moses in Numbers 34, but Israel never fully occupied them at any time in its history.

Isn't it wonderful that we serve a God who keeps His promises? Our God is so very faithful. Are we being faithful to Him?

Fill us with Your compassion for others.

Give us faith so we can be faithful to You.

Ezekiel 47-Part 2

LET IT GLOW

Where do we get our hope today? From what source is our strength to carry on another day?

Asaph, who was the leader in singing in the Temple, wrote the Psalm 73-83. Here are a few verses which I had already highlighted from our study in this book:

Thou art the God that doest wonders: Thou hast declared Thy strength among the people. (Ps.77:14)

We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength, and His wonderful works that He hath done. (Ps. 78:4) (Speaking of God's Words)

That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments. (verse 7)

Are we sharing the great wonders and works that God has done in our life throughout the years with our family? Do we share His strength and hope that is our God? Are we keeping His commands? Are we sharing how He has blessed our faithfulness? Folks, I am guilty. I have a tendency to write about those things and not tell my grandchildren about them. It is time to start telling.

 This book has been about the decline of a nation, not just a religious decline, but also in governmental and family decline. It happened due to them not following God's statutes and commands. They turned away to worship idols. Notice that God started with judgment at His house, not at the courthouse or the White House. Until we as God's people get our kingdom agenda priorities in order, He will not skip our failings to fix what's wrong with our culture either. The time has come for judgment to begin with God's household, and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who disobey the gospel of God? (1Peter 4:17)

The reason our culture is drying up is because there's no spiritual water flowing out of the sanctuary into the world. It must flow down the aisles of our churches. If God's presence doesn't show up among His people, how will it show up in our neighborhoods, in the nation, and in the world?             [Resource: The Tony Evans Bible Commentary] 

So, are we excusing sins of others and our self?   We read what happened to Judah and Jerusalem when they turned from God.  What awaits America? Are people calling good evil and evil good?

Holy Spirit, convict us of our sins. Turn us back to You in repentance.

We have become self-sufficient, sensual, and materialistic.

Ezekiel 47

LET IT GLOW

Psalm 73-83 are written by Asaph, a Levite who led one of the temple choirs. (1Chron.15:19) Either he wrote those psalms, or his choir sang them, or later choirs in the tradition of Asaph sang them, according to MacArthur.

Nevertheless I am continually with Thee: Thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.  Whom have I in heaven but Thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. (Psalm 73:23-26)

When Asaph once again understands God's view of life, he realizes that he is always with God, who holds his right hand. (verse 23) Notice who was holding whom. God was holding Asaph, and He wasn't letting go. Not only did Asaph have God's presence, but he also had His guidance and counsel. He recognizes that the Lord was everything to him. God's Word directs us to believe what is true and to live with wisdom.(Tony Evans)

Isn't it comforting to know that God is hold onto us? And He doesn't let go. Is God's Word directing our life? Is He our everything today?

The beginning of this chapter explains the vision of water flowing from the Temple during the Millennial reign of Christ on earth:

• It flowed eastward from the threshold of the Temple. (verse 1)
• The water was measured 4 times by the guide, who was probably Jesus.
• Beginning as a trickle, the water increased dramatically in depth every third of a mile. (verses 3-5)
• This trickle of water was issuing from the Holy of Holies, past the altar on the south side.
• Ezekiel was led out of the Temple area at the northern gate, around the Temple to the eastern gate. There the water was coming from under the building on the south side of the gate.
• The river flowed to the Dead Sea, where it brought life. (right now it is salt water) Trees grew on the banks of the river, which provided food and leaves for healing. (Currently, they are taking water from the Dead Sea to use as irrigation for the date palms. This is resulting in the Sea receding water.)

Jerusalem will have a life-giving river at this time, whether it is a literal river or a sacred symbol of the Lord's life-giving power. It is not from a palace nor from a government building, but from a Temple of God.

Water is often tied to life and the work of the Holy Spirit, so the river that will flow during this time is a river, evidence that the Spirit of God has returned to His house. God will be in His place, and His blessings will flow from Him to the entire land. (Tony Evans)

Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him. (John 7:38)

Folks, I found this verse written on an old calendar (2001) with Scriptures and beautiful pictures when I was sorting through things in my office, packing up them. It is a marvelous picture of greenery around a stream, out in the woods. I do not believe in coincidences. God had it there for me as a confirmation. His Spirit and Words want to flow through us to others, like a stream.

Is this life-giving stream flowing though us today, so it gives living water to the dry soul we come in contact with today?

Holy Spirit, comfort those dry souls, giving them life abundantly today.

Fill us with gratitude, worship, and joy in Christ now as we surrender to Your will.

Ezekiel 46-Part 3

LET IT GLOW

I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of Thy righteousness, even of Thine only. (Psalm 71:16)

Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth. (verse 9)

Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed Thy strength unto this generation, and Thy power to every one that is to come. (verse 18)

David asks God to continue to sustain him in his old age. Also, that others would not take advantage of him as the years pass (verses 10-11) David vows to continue to hope in God and offer praise to God all day long. (verses 14-15)

From childhood to old age, our lives are a testimony of what God has done for us. We must never despair, but keep on expecting His help no matter how severe our limitations. Hope in Jesus helps us to keep going, to keep serving Him.(Life Application Study Bible)

How are you still serving the Lord Jesus as you get older? Seniors can share what God has done for them throughout their lifetime. Keep going, never stop.

Have you thought about how important the kitchen area is in a house or church or Temple? Read on to find out about it.

Do you find it interesting all the details of the New Temple in Jerusalem when King Jesus returns to earth to reign over the world system for a thousand years. Ezekiel was given this vision to share with the Jews in captivity in Babylon along with him. It was to give those Jews hope for the future. In fact, some of them returned to rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple some 70 years after the Babylonian army destroyed them.

During this time, some of the sacrifices and offerings from the O.T. will be reestablished as a reminder of what God did for His people. However, Christ will be the High Priest since He has already made the sacrifice for sin as the sacrificial Lamb of God. It is His blood that makes us righteous, for we are as filthy rags, having no righteousness on our own, nor can the blood of animals take away our sin. 

The Priests, Levites, and Temple servants will be in the Temple area to serve Jesus Christ.

I tried to make a drawing of the Temple area according to MacArthur, but my computer will not allow straight lines. Maybe you can get an idea of how it will be set up.

In all the far corners, north, south, east, and west, will be the kitchen area. Those rooms will be designated as a place for fellowship where people can meet and enjoy the sacrificial meals together. (Wiersbe)

The priests and servants will cook the sacrifices of animals and grain. They will do it in the kitchen areas, avoiding carrying the sacrifices through the outer courtyard and endangering the people by transmitting holiness to them. (verse 20, NLT)

I recall the times my dad's family would get together at one of the siblings' home. Most of the time the ladies would sit in the kitchen area after the meal, and catch up on everyone's life. Sweet fellowship.

My mom used to spend the month of December making homemade candy and giving it away. I haven't carried on that tradition, but I do bake banana bread to give to others.

Is our kitchen area used to minister to hurting hearts? Is it used to provide for those in need? Do we cook something to express  our gratitude for someone?

Father, thank You for the food You provide for us.

May we share it with others, showing You love to them.

Use our kitchen to be a place of fellowship, encouraging others, meeting needs, listening to hurting hearts.

Ezekiel 46-Part 2

LET IT GLOW

Friend, are you in need of hope today? Could you use a strong refuge? In looking at Psalm 71 for encouragement today, David gives us a cup overflowing. He makes all that the Lord God does personal to him (and us). Can we say the same? God is:

• my rock and my fortress (verse 3)
• my God (verse 4)
• my hope and my trust (verse 5)
• my praise (verse 6)
• my strong refuge. (verse 7)

When we feel like we are sinking in this sin-filled world, God is a Rock that we can stand on and not sink into sin. If we feel like hope is gone in this hopeless world, that is when we must allow God to fill us with His Hope. When we are attacked and need fortress to run to, then run to God, our Fortress, who surrounds us with His love.

LET IT GROW

You know, we have been learning about the way of new worship that will occur during the Millennial reign of Christ when He returns to earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. The prince, resurrected King David, will lead God's people under the lordship of the Messiah. In the New Temple, Jewish animal sacrifice practices will take place. They will remind the people of what Jesus has done for all. There will be priests serving the Lord in the Temple.

• The prince will make a freewill offering, not at a set time, but when he wants to express his love for God. (verse 12)
• The daily sacrifices will occur as a reminder of their relationship to God and will give them an opportunity to express their devotion. (verses 13-15)
• Then the new land of Israel will be governed by the ancient law of the Year of Jubilee. (Lev. 25) Every 50 years, land possession will revert back to the original owner or family. Even the land given to the servants of the prince will be reverted back to him. His sons will keep the land that the prince gives them for an inheritance.

Land is not theirs, nor ours now, but it belongs to the Lord. We are all the lessees.  (Taylor)

I have said before that we are selling my family farm. It was a very difficult decision for my family to make. As I see it, the Lord made this ground and my parents used it to make a living. They chose to give it to me, and now the Lord said to move, go, so that is what I am doing. It is as a sacrifice unto God for the benefit of those who have houses to live in here in the future. I know they will enjoy it like I have. (After all, one day I will leave this place and go onto heaven. Sooner or later I will not be living here.) Guess it is a faith-walk, seeking where God has for us to live next as we serve Him. Yep, this country road of faith will lead us to the next stop in the next season of life. We are looking forward and not back. God is my strength and fortress, so I tell myself that I can do this.

Ezekiel 46

LET IT GLOW

Let all those that seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee: and let such as love Thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified. But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: Thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying. (Psalm 70:4-5)

In Psalm 70, David asks God to help him and provide a rapid rescue from those who wish him harm. (verses 1- 2) Also, David acknowledges himself as poor and needy, desperately in need of the one and only deliverer. (verse 5) He asks that his enemies would be humiliated and retreat in shame. (verses 2-3) David cares about the glorification of God and edification of the saints. Those who know and have experienced the greatness of God should declare, God is great! (verse 4)

 Our sovereign God is able to cause malice directed at you to return on your adversary's head. But David wasn't only concerned about himself. He wanted all who seek the Lord and love His salvation to magnify Him. [Resource: The Tony Evans Bible Commentary]

David admitted he was poor (humble; afflicted; depressed, in mind and circumstances) and needy (of want; destitute; beggar). Yet, he challenged us who love Jesus to say, "Let God be magnified (lifted up; excellent; boast).

Before and after David was made king of Israel, he had enemies who sought to hill him. However, even during those times, David continued to lift up and praise God. Oh that we could be that strong in faith.

Folks, the more I study this book of prophesy, the more I realize my inadequacy. Great men of God and commentators can say things so much better than I can. Thank you for continuing with me in this study. Hang on, we have almost completed it.

We continue to learn about the worship methods to be used during the Millennial reign of Christ Jesus:

• The Inner Court Eastern Gate of the New Temple will remain closed during the six days of work, but on the Sabbath it will be opened, and on the day of the new moon. This inner court was reserved exclusively for the priests and Levites. (verse 1)
• The prince made the offerings, not only for the major festivals, but also for the new moons and Sabbath. (verse 2) He worshiped at the post, porch, the threshold of the gate as a door-keeper. He was an example for the people, worshiping God with reverence and godly fear, unworthy to approach Him.
• The people would go in through the northern gate and out through the southern gate. (verse 9) This provided time for meditation, having to go a great distance around the sanctuary. Some say we are to be still pressing forward (Phil. 3:13), to not go back as we came, but have a changed heart, more holy, heavenly, and spiritual after worshiping God.
• The prince and servants, rich and poor alike are allowed to worship God together. God honors those who honor Him.

The ground is equal at the foot of the cross for sinners and saved alike. We come humbly to the One who humbled Himself to be God's servant. God looks upon the heart. No matter our status in this life, mercy is available to all. Does our worship result in a changed heart?

My God is still the same.

His faithfulness and loving kindness never changes.

Jesus have mercy on my soul, for I am a sinner in need of a Savior this day.

I will magnify You today, for only Jesus is worthy of worship and praise.

Ezekiel 45-Part 3

LET IT GLOW

In Psalm 69, David pictures himself as a man sinking in a miry bog and in water about to cover his head. (verses 1-2) He looks to God since he is unable to help himself. (verse 3) David's enemies were more numerous than he could count, but they had no legitimate cause for persecuting him. (verse 4) Then David recognizes he is a sinful man, although he endured insults because of the Lord. (verses 5,7)David's enemies included his own family members, to beat all. ((verses 8,12) This resulted in his mourning, fasting, and wearing sackcloth. (verses 10-11) David suffered from a broken heart, with no one to extend sympathy or comfort. (verse 20)

Have you been there? Perhaps you are there now, friend. Do as David did-pray. Then praise and thank our loving God.

I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs. The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God. For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not His prisoners. (verses 30-33)

Just as God restored Jerusalem and Judah, gave them to His children, and He blessed His people, so He can do the same today. So will you bring the sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to God? Seek the Lord and live the abundant life. In Ps. 34, God delivers us from the hard.

We recognize the work Christ did by dying on the cross for our sins. The future sacrifices made in the New Temple will be as a memorial and expression of love and devotion to the Lord. It will be a time of fellowship and feasting to the glory of the Lord.

There were three specific times for the rituals that God gave for the Millennium reign of Christ:

1. New Year's Day (verses 18-20 sacrifices were to reconcile the Temple.
2. Passover (verses 21-24) was a time to remember when God delivered Israel from slavery in Egypt. (Exodus 12; Deut. 16)
3. Feast of Tabernacles (verse 25) caused them to recall when God protected Israel those 40 years walking in the wilderness. (Lev. 23; Numbers 29)                                                             [Resource: Liberty Bible Commentary]
