Are You Decked Out?

O.T. #1888 "Are You Decked Out?"

Ezekiel 16

LET IT GLOW

Here is the second of three parables Ezekiel spoke of to the exiled Jews in Babylon (elders). God called it like He saw its. He likened Jerusalem to:

  1.  an abandoned baby adopted by God. This baby was a dirty and filthy illegitimate child (the city of Jerusalem). It was as though its parents were the pagan Amorite and Hittite of Canaan. It was like an infant thrown into the open field because no one wanted her. (verses 4-5)
  2. a young woman of beauty. (verses 6-7)  Jerusalem became marrying age and God chose her to be His bride with a covenant-marriage. He clothed His bride in the finest clothing and jewels, decked out. Decked means adorn. She became royalty (beautiful crown) and her fame spread among the nations. (verses 6-14)
  3. an adulteress, unfaithful, and a prostitute of idolatrous idols. ((verses 5-34) Sexual graphic images are written in those scriptures.
  4. having a sin-sick heart. (verse 30)

So what is the good that came out of all of this?

Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you when you wee young, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you. (verse 60)

And I will reaffirm my covenant with you, and you will know that I am the LORD. (verse 62)

Folks, have you made a promise to follow Jesus, no turning back? Then, did you drift away from your relationship? Good news-Jesus still loves you and wants you to return to Him.

LET IT GROW

Verse 63 says (NLT), You will remember your sins and cover your mouth in silent shame when I forgive you of all that you have done.

Jesus is the everlasting covenant that God made with us and with Jerusalem and His people the Jews. The Mosaic and Abrahamic covenants will be complete when they believe Jesus is the Messiah and Savior.

LET IT GO

Be decked out in the robe of Jesus' righteousness.

May we be adorned with His love.

Wear the crown of a child of the King Jesus.
