Needs for a Get Away

Luke 5-Part 4

LET IT GLOW

Do you have a vacation planned this year? We are going to another state this summer to spend the weekend with my husband's family. We always have a blast. We may not do a lot, but just recall the good ole days, but it works for us. Sometimes we just need to get away from the demands on us, relax and enjoy our time to refresh. Jesus did.

Jesus healed the man with leprosy. Then He told the man to tell no one, go, and show himself to the priest, and take an offering for his cleansing. It was for a testimony to the Temple leadership that something was happening. (Rabbis considered physical diseases as consequences of the person's sin.

One of the characteristics of Jesus' healings was immediate, total wholeness. (MacArthur)

I think the man obeyed Jesus' instructions. Fame grew of Jesus' abilities. Great multitudes gathered to hear and be healed by Jesus. (verse 15) So Jesus found it necessary to retreat from public life to rest, reflect, refresh, recharge, and pray, so He went into the wilderness. (verse 16)

When we get so busy serving others that we neglect our own spiritual growth, Bible study, then it is time for us to get away with our Heavenly Father. Take time to seek His will, what we need to change in our life, if our schedule is pleasing to God, etc.

LET IT GROW

The greater the demand on Jesus, the more Jesus in His humanity depended on God the Father. (Tony Evans)

He didn't want to be known or sought merely as a miracle worker. His primary work was to be spiritual rather than physical. (Falwell)

Why are we doing what we are doing? Is it for our self-gratification or for the glory of God? Is it because we want to please our Heavenly Father or please others? Something to consider.

LET IT GO

Help us listen to the Holy Spirit today, Father.

Where do You want us to go and do for Your kingdom work?

How can we show the love of Jesus to others?

Glory to God in the Highest.
