O. T. #2024 "Where is God?"

Summary of Daniel
So many tragic things happen in our world. There are earthquakes, tornadoes, assassins, and drunk drivers who take away lives and material things. Divorce shatters a family and home, as well as terrorists destroy lives. Tragedy happens to people. In our sorrow and despair we may ask, "Where is God?"
There are some things Daniel discovered about his God:
- God is sovereign. He controlled circumstances of individuals and nations. This all-knowing God is in charge of world events. As God controlled Babylon, He used them to bring repentance to the Jews, He also worked to control the destinies of people during Daniel's lifetime. god controls all human history, past, present, and future.
- God is faithful. He proved it in Daniel's life, delivering him from execution, a den of lions, and from enemies who hated him. Also, in the lives of Daniel's three friends as they were thrown into a fiery furnace and survived.
- God gave faithful Daniel visions and dreams of the future as prophetic events:
1. the rise of Gentile supremacy
2. the rebuilding of Jerusalem
3. the coming and death of the Messiah, Jesus Christ
4. the Great Tribulation
5. the Millennial Kingdom. (Swindoll)
(The first three events have taken place, but the last two are yet
to come.)
- God answers prayers. We read of the angels and Jesus coming to Daniel in his visions.
- God loves His people. He has preserved the Jews down through history and us in our times of trouble.
- God is judge over all. Believers will receive their rewards, and unbelievers will receive their punishment at the Great White Throne.
- God keeps His Word. As He keeps His covenant with Israel, so He does what He says He will do.
- God gives hop to captives in a strange land and purpose to lives.
- God gives rest and strength to stand while we wait on His timing and will.
- God receives glory, for He alone in the Only True Living God.
- God is the only One to be worshiped. There is no other god. Satan is limited in his power, as God is all-powerful.
Perhaps you found more characteristics of God as you studied this book. One day we will understand all things, see the whole picture, and our Savior.
May our focus be not on understanding future events, but on serving the Lord Jesus here and now. Have a blessed day, dear one!
