Isaiah 14
And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve. (verse 3)
LET IT GLOW
Friend, could you use a little quiet time to just settle down in a comfy chair and breathe? Christmas time can be such a hurried time and stressful time if we allow it. It can be hard on the mothers who hold down a job, need to prepare food, and shop for the children. If you are there, remember, you are not alone. The Savior we worship on Sunday and at Christmas, is with us through it all. Are we singing those carols as we go along our way?
Isaiah was able to see down through the corridor of time to the captivity of Judah in Babylon, then Babylon's fall, and the return of Israel to her own land. (Judah would be reestablished under the name of Israel.)
In that day, God would give rest from what?
- They would rest from sorrow,
- from fear,
- and from hard bondage.
The Israelites would be freed from captivity after 70 years. Israel would again possess the land in the land of the LORD. The tables would turn and those who Israeli people serve them would serve the Israeli people.
Need some rest from sorrow, fear, or bondage? Jesus is the answer, dear one.
LET IT GROW
Verse 7 says, The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.
With a tyrant off the throne, the whole would be at peace. Isn't that a cause to sing with a joyful heart?
The angels sang as the birth of King Jesus was announced to the shepherds.
Of course, this can represent the millennial conditions, too. Satan will be defeated and Jesus will reign forever as our King. Woohoo!
LET IT GO
Thank You, Jesus, for rest You give to me.
Take my sorrow, fears, and bondage today.
Change my heart into singing Your praises.
