Isaiah 18
At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD Almighty from a people tall and smooth-skinned, from a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by river-the gifts will be brought to Mount Zion, the place of the Name of the LORD Almighty. (Verse 7)
LET IT GLOW
5. The Burden, Oracle, or Message to Cush
The biblical country of Ethiopia was also called Cush. It is modern day Sudan in Africa. It is located south of Egypt, has the Nile River running through it, and has the Red Sea on its eastern boarder. The Ethiopia dynasty conquered Egypt in 714 B.C.. Then the king of Ethiopia heard that Assyria's great army was heading their way so he sent messengers to surrounding nations to join them in an alliance. Isaiah told the messengers to return home, Judah was only depending upon God for help against Assyria. Ethiopia was overtaken by the Assyrians. (Later, in chapter 37, Isaiah prophesied the destruction of Assyria.)
Keep in mind, God is warning these nations through Isaiah's prophesies. They were idolaters and worshiped false gods.
LET IT GROW
Isaiah looks beyond this time to a day when the Ethiopians would pay tribute to the LORD of Hosts and would come to Mount Zion as believers in the True God (Acts 8:26-40). (Falwell)
This is when Philip preached Jesus to the Ethiopian eunuch, who was reading Isaiah 53.
Read our key verse. In 1992, a pastor to Dinka people in Sudan, read this chapter and got excited. Their women were more than 6 feet tall and smooth skin. Revival broke out then. He wrote a letter about this. Kay Arthur received this letter in 2003 and told about this.
All things are possible with our God.
Are we preaching, teaching, or sharing Jesus with others today?
Our God is working His plan. Is the Bible being fulfilled before our eyes?
Are we ready for the Lord Jesus to rapture out His church and come back to earth to reign?
He's got it all under control and in His time.
LET IT GO
Jesus, You are so merciful and trustworthy.
