Matthew 6-Part 16
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat or what ye shall drink: nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? (verse 25)
LET IT GLOW
One of the greatest need of people is to be delivered from worry and anxiety. That comes whenever we trust Jesus to meet our needs and focus on Him being first place in our life. Easier said than done, I know.
It has been years since we had a car payment. We pay cash for older cars so that happens. We were blessed with not 1, not 2, but 3 Cadillacs. The first one was totaled in an accident. Everything was modern on it. The second one we use for my husband's ministry. It has more miles on it. The third one was my cousin and uncle's car, so it is low mileage. It has enough bells and whistles that we are pleased to drive an older car to church. It is a matter of contentment. We thank God for providing them. (We used to drive jalopies when in college.) Not having a car payment allows us to freely give to those in need. What about you?
Life refers to spirit, heart, mind, soul, breath.
In the big picture of things of life, does it really matter what we are eating, drinking, and waring? Just so we honor God with it. When our thoughts are on meeting those things, then our anxiety level increases. Not that we are to neglect our physical needs and those of our family, but we can get by simple things and not fancy ones. Also, we are not to be lazy, but work for those things.
LET IT GROW
- Do not be preoccupied with the material possessions of life. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. (verse 33)
- Do not be so wrapped up in securing things that we become anxious, disturbed, and sleepless. Those result in high blood pressure, ulcers, and heart attacks.
- Do not be so consumed with getting, that we think little of God.
- Don't be so entangled with the affairs of this earth that we forget eternity. [The Preacher's Outline & Sermon Bible]
LET IT GO
What a Father, what a friend, what a Savior He is!
How faithful You are!
