Skim the Scum

Ezekiel 22-Part 2

LET IT GLOW

It has been a rough two days. I was apprehensive about getting the Covid vaccine, and wished I had not. (I have an autoimmune disease, asthma, and a heart problem.) Two of my specialists highly suggested I get it. I surely did not expect the reactions that my body had. It attacked my heart, making my blood pressure low and high. So I asked Jesus to reach down with His righteous right hand and help me. He did just that. Thanks for your prayers.

Abundant life is not necessarily health and wealth; it is living in continual dependence on Jesus. Instead of trying to fit this day into a preconceived mold, relax and be on the lookout for what I am doing. You have Jesus on your side, so what are you worried about? He can equip you to do absolutely anything, as long as it is His will. (Sarah Young)

Sometimes we just have to rest and relax in Jesus. I am finally feeling better after a good nap. Hebrews 13:6 says, So that we confidently say, "The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What shall man do to me?"

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever. (verse 8)

He has rescued me many times from the close death. And He did it again. To God be the glory forever.

LET IT GROW

Last time, we looked at why Jerusalem was going to experience God's judgment. Today, we will find out how Jerusalem's judgment would come. (verses 17-22) The Babylonians would burn them in the fire of God's fury. (verse 21)

As precious metals were put into the fire to remove the impurities (dross), so Israel/Judah would be cleansed from their idolatry, immorality, and wickedness.

Instead of being the glory, strength, and example among the nations, Jerusalem is now likened unto a refiner's blast furnace. As the furnace is heated, the dross will rise to the top to be cast off. If any silver and gold is there, it will be purged from its filthiness. (Liberty Bible Commentary)

Scum is scraped away after metal is refined. Some of the people were left to melt, while some were scattered among the nations, and some would be gathered back to Jerusalem.(verses 19-20)

Then His sinful people would know that He is the LORD as His wrath was poured out on them. (verse 22)

Isn't it better for God to confirm His sovereignty in our lives by blessing our obedience than by punishing our disobedience?

LET IT GO

Skim the scum of sin from our hearts and lives, Jesus.

You alone are worthy of worship and praise.

Please forgive us of our idolatry, immorality, and wickedness.
