Jeremiah 31-Part 3

LET IT GLOW

God will show His everlasting love and lovingkindness when He brings back Israel/Judah to Jerusalem for  rebuilding. God redeemed them and paid the ransom for them (from Pharoah and Nebuchadnezzar). What joy and singing and rejoicing there must have been as the Jews rebuilt everything. There was hope for their future, for their children would come again to their land. (verse 17)

Israel, of the 10 northern tribes, is still God's son, His darling child, according to verse 20, NLT. He often punished them, but still loved them. That's why God longed for them and had mercy on them. (verse 20) Isn't that the way parents are? Because you love your child, you discipline them so they learn to do what is right.

LET IT GROW

How will Israel respond in verses 18-19?

  • Admit that God disciplined them like a calf that needs training for the yoke. (wild)
  • They would desire God to turn them to Him and restore them.
  • They recognized God alone is the Lord their God.
  • They admitted that they had turned away from Him.
  • They were sorry for it all.
  • They could kick themselves for their stupidity!
  • They were thoroughly ashamed of all they did in their younger days.

Yes, there have been times that I could kick myself for making the wrong decision. Now I realize how  stupid I was. Regrets can eat us alive. The answer is to confess our sins to Jesus and get forgiveness.

 LET IT GO

Thank You Jesus for Your love and forgiveness.
