Are You Ready For a Trip?

Jeremiah 31-Part 4

LET IT GLOW

A few weeks ago, we took a much needed weekend trip. We had not gotten away all summer. We planned what we would do and where we would go, but not on a schedule. What a relaxing time for my husband and I. Israel was told to get ready for their trip. Read on to find out where.

Isn't it hard to comprehend that God loves us with an everlasting love? His consistency does not change, even though our circumstances may. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever! We only need to allow His love flow through us.

We see God's love for Israel when He redeemed them from the grip of Babylon. (The Medes and Persians conquered Babylon.) He used King Cyrus to send the Jews back to Jerusalem.

What instructions does God give Israel for that time? Look at verses 21-22.

  • Set up signposts to mark your trip home.
  • Get a good map.
  • Study the road conditions.
  • The road out is the road back.
  • Come back to your home towns.
  • He will create a new thing in this land. (The Message)

What a special grace God was going to show Israel. After their change of heart during the 70 years of being in a foreign country, a remnant would be allowed to  return home again. This is what they had to look forward to. Probably most of the returnees were the next generation, so they did not know the way back home.

LET IT GROW

When Israel finally repented of their sin, they would turn back to worshiping God. After being ashamed of their sins and  having a change of heart what would they say to the God of Israel?

Now put me, trained and obedient, to use. You are my God. (MSG, V. 18)

Are we wanting to be used by God for kingdom work? Then we must repent of our sins, turn back to God with an obedient heart. His mercy is never failing and love is eternal. God forgives our sin, for He is faithful and just and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.

LET IT GO

Return and follow Jesus.
