Who is Jesus to You?

N.T. #92 "Who is Jesus to You?"

 Matthew 8-Part 7

LET IT GLOW

Who is Jesus? In this chapter, many found out the answer to that question:

  • Jesus was Healer to the leper, Pter's sick mother in law, and the centurion's servant.
  • Jesus was Almighty God, who controls winds and sea, to the disciples.
Jesus was the Son of God to the 2 possessed men and their legion of demons that possessed them.

Did you notice that when Jesus calmed the violent storm for His disciples, that the result was a great calm.

Calm means tranquillity, free from disturbance.

In verse 27, after the disciples experienced Jesus calming the storm, the marvelled saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?

So when my life gets disturbing, I call out to Jesus for Him for His great calm in my life.

LET IT GROW

Another thing I noticed was those demons knew who Jesus is-the Son of God:

  • This meant Jesus is a divine person with almighty power, no match for them.
  • They tremble in His presence.
  • They are obligated to obey Jesus' commanding voice.
  • However, the demons did not know Jesus as their righteous Savior.
  • They knew Jesus Christ is the Righteous Judge and had the pwer to punish them (which is coming). The Day of Judgment was not yet, so they requested Him to send them into the swine for a body to possess.
Jesus granted their request. What did the pigs do whenever that happened? They drown themselves in the very Sea of Galilee which Jesus had calmed earlier.
What was the result of that herd being dead? In Mark 5:15, the people saw one of the demon-possessed men clothed and in his right mind.
The hog owners went into the city, told what occurred, and the entire town told Jesus to leave. Isn't it incredible that the townspeople drove Jesus out of their town after He drove the demons out of the 2 men!
The freed man began proclaiming throughout the Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him. (Mark 5:20)

Swindoll tells us to expect struggles with unseen forces, stand firm in the full armor of God (Eph. 6:11-13), hold up the shield of faith and pray in the Spirit., never forget that we are on the winning side. (Rev. 20:10)

You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

Who is Jesus to you?

LET IT GO

How great is our God!

Jesus, help those sceptics to believe Your Word is true and You truly are the Son of the Living God!
