Matthew 9

LET IT GLOW

Jesus and His disciples left the country of the Gadarenes, who did not want Him there after Jesus cast out the legion of demons in two men. It was because those demons requested they go into the swine, which drown in the Sea. So they got back into the boat and sailed across the Sea of Galilee. In the previous chapter we read about the 6 miracles Jesus performed to demonstrate that the King has the dynamic power. After all, Jesus is a God-man. Now we will read about 6 more miracles that Jesus perform, calls Matthew to join Him and the disciples, contends with the Pharisees, and continues His ministry in Galilee. (J.V. McGee)

Verse 1 tells us the group went back to Capernaum, Jesus' own city, hometown if you will. Don't you think Jesus was the kind of guy folks wanted to be around? Obviously they sought Him for healing physically. Perhaps they could feel the love of God with Him, too.

What about us, do others feel the love of God when they are around us? I can feel His love when I am around others at our church. Our VBS begins June 25, so please pray that we have many children come and they come to know Jesus as Savior. I have been working on the plans for months as director and now it is coming together. Glory to God in the Highest!

  

LET IT GROW

Then we read about the 4 friends who carried their paralyzed friend to the house where Jesus was. The crowd was so great that they lowered the man down through the roof in order for Jesus to heal him. Now that is what I call FRIENDS! They went the second mile, didn't they? What love for their friend they showed! If we have a couple of close friends, we are blessed. Are you blessed?

Mark chapter 2 gives us more details. Before Jesus healed the paralyzed man, He forgave his sins. What a healing! Did he have something to share!
