Inconvenienced, But Joyful

O. T. #7 "Inconvenienced, But Joyful"

Feb. 15, 2023

Matthew 2-Part 2

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. (verse 10)

LET IT GLOW

What do we have to rejoice about today? Look at what the wise men had to rejoice about. The star that led them to Jerusalem led them to Bethlehem. They rejoiced because they saw that special star again.

Let's look at what those words mean in the Greek language.

Rejoiced means happy, be glad.

Exceeding means very greatly, high degree.

Great means mighty, strong, big.

Joy means cheerfulness, gladness, greatly.

Can we put this together? The wise men, when they saw the special star again, were mighty glad they saw it again. They were filled with very great joy. Maybe they were dancing around their camels, ready to get going again, following the bright star.

About 6 years ago I was this joyful. Our granddaughter was one of the 13 who were saved during our week of Vacation Bible School. Need I say, it was exceeding great joy.

Just lately I had a cancerous spot dug out of my face. I rejoice that it only took one time to get it all.

LET IT GROW

As the wise men continued on their journey, they found where Mary, Joseph, and the Christ child were living. When they entered the house, they fell down and worshiped the Messiah. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

True worship can't be contained. Having traveled for 2 years those astrologers were excited. They had seen the manifestation of God's glory in the heavens and the True King. They wanted to see Him badly, didn't they? What an inconvenience it was for the wise men.

How much are we willing to be inconvenienced in order to worship the King of kings-Jesus?

Are we willing to give our all to carry out His will in our life?

LET IT GO

Thank You Jesus for giving Your all for us sinners.

You left heaven to walk among men who treated You badly, yet You loved them.

Help us to love the unlovely.

May we be inconvenienced so others come to salvation in Jesus and find His love.
