Coming Home With Joy

O. T. #1794 "Coming Home With Joy"

Jeremiah 31-Part 2

LET IT GLOW

The everlasting love of God shows lovingkindness
to His children. His mercy never ends, lasting eternally.

Jeremiah sees into Israel's future and records it in this
chapter. We read what the God of Israel will do for
His beloved children after 70 years of captivity in verse
11.
For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed
Him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.

Redeemed means ransom; release; preserve.

God released Israel from their Babylonian captivity.
They were not strong enough to do it themselves.
Here are other verses which speak of His redeeming
us.
Isaiah 44:22; Psalms 49:15, 103:4,107:2; Titus 2:14

Another time God redeemed His children occurred
when the Hebrews' firstborns did not die when they
were under the blood, in Egypt. Also, when Pharaoh
released the whole tribe.

Jesus is our Redeemer who was our substitutionary
ransom payment of the blood sacrifice as the Lamb
of God.
Is Jesus your Redeemer, dear one? Accept His free
gift of salvation today and He will be.

LET IT GROW

We had been away 17 years when the Lord opened
the door for my husband to pastor only 10 miles
away from our hometown and home church (and my
family). What joy and excitement and expectations
we had! The sacrifices we had made in order to
follow Jesus were worth it after all.

Now, how was Israel going to act when they came
back home to Jerusalem?
  • happy and dance with tambourines (v. 4)
  • plant vineyards and eat from their own gardens (v. 5)
  • sing with joy (v. 7)
  • shout out praise and joy (v. 7)
  • tears of joy will stream down their faces (v. 9)
  • they will walk beside quiet streams on smooth paths                                                                and not stumble (v. 9)
  • they will come home and sing songs of joy on the hill.                                                                 of Jerusalem (v. 12)
  • they will radiate because of the Lord's good gifts of                                                          abundant crops and healthy flocks and herds (v. 12)
  • life will be like a well watered garden
  • all their sorrows will be gone and turned into rejoicing                                                               (v. 12)
  • their priests will enjoy abundance (v. 14)

LET IT GO

Nobody loves me like You love me, Jesus.
I stand in awe of Your amazing ways!
I worship you as long as I am breathing!
Oh, what a song to sing!
Fill us with the joy of Thy salvation!
