Summary of Proverbs-Part 3

Words can be powerful, whether good or bad. Critical words of years long passed still ring in my head sometimes. Why do the encouraging words not do the same?
I have found a solution-I sing the song "Overcomer." If you haven't seen the new Christian movie yet, I encourage you to do so. It shows how a teenage girl overcame her hardships, trials, and fear. We can all be overcomers, too.

Chapter 15 gives us some encouraging words:

• A soft answer turns away wrath. (v.1) It can disarm a heart full of hate.
• The tongue of the wise uses knowledge aright. (v. 2) The right answer is given at the proper time and place.
• Gentle words are a tree of life. (v. 4)
• The lips of the wise give good advice. (v.7)
• A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance. (v.13)
• A man has joy by the answer of his mouth. (v.23)
• Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. (16:24)
• She opens her mouth with wisdom; and her tongue is the law of kindness. (31:26)
• Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing. (12:18)

Our challenge today is to watch our words and let them be soft, gentle, sweet, and healing.
