Fearing or Trusting

Proverbs 29
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Proverbs 29:18

LET IT GLOW

People need a purpose in their life. Otherwise, time passes by and they realize they have accomplished nothing of meaning or worth while. Isn't this common for the older people? They need something to do instead of sitting around, alone. They need a vision.

What is a vision? In the Hebrew language, vision means a revelation or oracle; a sight (mentally); a dread.

J. Vernon McGee said in his book, Proverbs:
Vision is actually spiritual understanding. It is the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer to give him understanding of the Word of God. We read in 1 Samuel 3:1, ...and the Word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision. There was no understanding of the Word of God, and therefore, it was precious in those days. God had to raise up Samuel, a seer, to meet that need.
In those days, there was no prophet to expound the Law, no priest or Levite to teach the good knowledge of the Lord, no means of grace. The Word of the Lord was scarce. (Matthew Henry)

Sounds like we have a choice-either we find what God's will is for us and do it, or we rebel or remain idle.

What God wants is to get the attention of His people and reveal to us what is on His heart and what is His will, for God's ways are not our ways! (Isaiah 55:8-9) The only way for you to know God's will is for Him to reveal it to you. (Blackaby)

Instead of setting goals, arranging agendas, Christians should be praying and reading the Bible, then looking where God is working and joining Him. When we know, then the next step is obedience, doing God's will His way.

What does God want us to do today? Is there a person on our heart, in our mind, that has needs?

LET IT GROW

Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the LORD means safety. (verse 25)

Do we have a fear of displeasing people? It puts us in bondage to them, and they become our primary focus. Jesus is to be our primary focus throughout the day. He is only a whisper away.
He does not give us a spirit of fear, but of love and a sound mind. Jesus is the one we should fear.

When we trust in the Lord will be set on high, beyond man's reach. (Falwell)

Are we fearing or trusting?

LET IT GO

Seek the purpose for my life though all seasons of life.
Trust God and not fear people.
