Running, Repenting, Receiving

Summary of Jonah

You know, there's one thing  as we Christians grow older need to realize: Jesus loves us with an everlasting love without limits or conditions, and His love always is and will always be. We can't work for it, nor do anything to diminish it. The unfailing love of Jesus never fails.

So when we are afraid, feel out of control, run ragged, we can take refuge in the shelter of His wings, where we are absolutely secure. When change is hard, loss is unbearable, just turn to Jesus. Friend, let's choose to trust our Loving and Lovely Savior in all circumstances. I am learning to step aside and let Jesus. Let Him do what is best, let Him take over, let Him receive the glory in my story.

What did we see in Jonah and in his life?

  • He was in disobedience to His God. He tried to run away from the presence and will of the LORD, but that didn't happen. (chapter 1)
  • He was in repentance in the belly of a whale as he came face to face with death. (chapter 2)
  • Finally, we see his obedience, fellowship with God, success as a preacher, and his awe. (chapter 3)
  • Then he become angry at God for having mercy on his enemies, discouraged, discomfort, and rebuke again by God.

Perhaps you are in one of those stages spiritually. Are you running from God's will for your life? Are you needing repentance, admitting to God that you have sinned, failed, and need Him? Or are you angry at God because of some situation in your life, living in the blame game?

Beloved, God already knows what's going on and what you need. He is waiting.  So many times I have been there. Receive His forgiveness and joy again. If this is not your situation, praise the Lord! Look around and see who is there. Offer love, a listening ear, and a God who forgives and has mercy overflowing available.

Give thanks unto the Lord, for His mercy endures forever.
