Merry Christmas, Late!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day. Sorry for not posting on Friday, but I was sick. My husband has been sick since Thursday, so we did not get to attend services on Sunday. However, we
watched one on television-Charles Stanley preaching a message, Gifts of the First Christmas, which I would like to share. (Luke 2)
- Mary gave her body to carry Jesus and her reputation.
- Caesar Augustus gave a decree to tax the people and take a census. (God used that king to fulfill prophecies to accomplish His purposes. Jesus was to be born in Bethlehem.)
- The inn keeper gave his stable to Mary and Joseph to spend the night.
- The angel gave an announcement to the Jewish shepherds that the Savior Messiah Jesus, was born.
- Shepherds gave a testimony of the Messiah being born.
- Wise men gave their gifts to the couple.
- God gave His only begotten Son. (John 3:16)
- Jesus gave Himself; every event in His life was characterized by giving-taught the truth and the Word, healed the sick, changed lives.
- A true follower of Jesus is a giver. (Luke 6:35-38; 2 Cor. 9:6-8)
What is the most valuable material gift given to you? Does it compare to the gift of eternal life? Thank You God for giving the most awesome gift of Jesus for us sinners. Such love was given, Jesus, that You would leave heaven to come to earth to dwell among people so You could provide the sacrifice, perfect sacrifice we needed by giving Yourself.
so our challenge today is to share the gifts God has given to us.
