Who is This Glory of God?

Ezekiel 44

LET IT GLOW

And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of His doing. The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in Him; and all the upright in heart shall glory. (Psalm 64:9-10)

Blessed is the man whom Thou choosest, and causest to approach unto Thee, that He may dwell in Thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of Thy house, even of Thy holy temple.    (Ps. 65:4)

Are we happy that we can draw near to our God after He has removed our sin? Have we seen the manifestation of God's work? Have we experienced His deliverance lately? Are we rejoicing in God, taking refuge under His covering, and offering praises to Him? Do we fearing Him and proclaiming His glorious deeds? As God was David's hope, so He is our hope today. In verses 6-7, the mountains and seas bow to God's will. Do we?

Thou crownest the year with Thy goodness; and Thy paths drop fatness. They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side. The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys are also covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing. (Ps. 65:11-13)

Creation itself is robed with joy and shouts in triumph at His works. And, just as creation displays fruitfulness when it receives God's blessings, the same is true for us. We can know the blessing of Christ's atoning work and live a life of fruitfulness. (1John 1:9) (Tony Evans)

Are we sharing spiritual fruit? Who is this god of Glory? It is Jehovah Yahweh, Creator, Sustainer of Life, Savior and Messiah, the only Living God to be worshiped. He is the One who gives me breath of life, beats of heart, prevents cancer, my Savior and Redeemer, the Christ, the Son of the Living God, the Lamb of God that takes away my sins, that is who He is to me. How about you, friend?

LET IT GROW

Ezekiel has a vision of the new system of worship during the Millennial reign of Jesus as King, described here in this chapter. What do we learn that will take place?

  • King Jesus Christ will enter the Temple area through the eastern gate, which Ezekiel saw in his vision. (Currently, it is sealed up to prevent this-the Dome, an Islamic temple stands over this area) Nothing can prevent God's will being carried out. Surely it is a small thing for Him, since Jesus arose from death and moved the stone over His tomb.
  • The glory of the God of Israel will enter, His voice like a noise of many waters, and the earth shinned with His glory. (verse 2) Ezekiel had seen previously in a vision the glory of God depart the Temple area right before Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed; also, in the initial vision by the River Chebar.
  • The Eastern Gate will remain closed because the glory of God and holy presence had entered through it. No one else could walk where God had been. (43:4) God would never again leave the Temple. (10:19;11:23) Also, the closed gate would prevent people from worshiping the sun from within the Temple grounds as it rises in the east. (8:16)
  • Then Ezekiel fell on his face in reverence of the holiness of the Savior, King Jesus Christ. (verse 3)

Glory (kabowd, pronounced kaw-baw) refers to splendor, honor.

The word shekinah, used to describe the glory of God, does not appear in the Bible, but the concept clearly does. When the Israelites left Egypt, it was evident as a pillar of fire at night and a cloud by day. (Exodus 13:20-22) No one can see God and live, which Moses found out, as he saw the back of the Lord while in the cleft of the rock.

In the N.T., Jesus Christ is the dwelling place of God's glory. (Colossian 2:9; John 14:9) In Christ, we see the visible manifestation of God Himself in the second person of the Trinity. When we get to heaven, we will see both the Son and the Father in all their glory, and the Shekinah will no longer be veiled. (1John 3:2)

Do we give God the glory in our worship and in our daily life? When He heals us, do we glorify God?

LET IT GO

Lord, cleanse our heart, for we are unclean and unholy people.

We are all sinners in need of a Savior today.

In every area of our life, may we glorify and honor You, Jesus.

May our life please You, Holy God.

Please bless all who read this with salvation and encouragement.
