What Drives Out Fear?

Isaiah 59-Part 4

LET IT GLOW

In the coming millenial kingdom, Jesus will defeat the adversaries and enemies and rebellious of His people. Everyone will fear (to reverence) God. It is more than an emotional feeling, but applies to worship, respect, and honoring of our God. The entire world will worship the Lord-from the east and the west they will come to Jerusalem. He will come like a raging flood tide driven by the breath of the LORD. (verse 19) He is in control of the situation. His sovereignty intervenes in the affairs of mankind to deliver His people.

Billy Graham wrote this in his daily devotional book, Wisdom For Each Day:
What is your fear? Do you fear the future? Do you fear life's burdens that sometimes seem almost overwhelming? Do you fear death? Most of us fear everything except God-yet it is God whom we should fear most of all!
Jesus can put an end to fear for all who trust in Him. He is the answer to any fear you have. After all, God's power is greater than the powers of evil, and "neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future... nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39).
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear. (1John 4:18)

Isn't Jesus that perfect love that drives out fear?

To the enemies of God, Christ comes as a terrifying conqueror who will sweep them away like a rushing stream (verse 19). But to those who turn from transgression, Christ will come as Redeemer (verse 20).  (Tony Evans)

He is coming for those who have turned from their rebellion to Him and to the faithful ones.
Will you be a part of this new kingdom?

LET IT GROW

What does the LORD say to us in verse 21?
  • He gives us a covenant, which He keeps.
  • His Spirit will not leave us.
  • The Words that He gives us will no leave us either.
  • Those Words will be on our lips, our children's lips, and our grandchildren's lips forever.
God gave Joshua words to speak in 1:8, the Abrahanic covenant as they entered the Promised Land. Now the covenant He makes with us is eternal and permanent.

The Spirit and the Word go together, and by them the church is kept up. On these foundations the church is built, stands firmly, and shall stand for ever, Christ Himself being the Chief Corner-Stone.
(Matthew Henry)

LET IT GO

May faith and love in us grow and fear be removed as we trust in You, Sweet Jesus.
