Various Paths for Life

Isaiah 59-Part 2
The way of peace they knew not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace. (verse 8)

LET IT GLOW

What kind of path are we walking along today? Throughout my studies, I have discovered various types of path for our life to follow:
  • Paths of righteousness-Psalm 23:3
  • Paths of mercy and truth-Ps. 25:10
  • Paths of uprightness-Proverbs 2:13
  • Straight paths-Matthew 3:3
In Sarah Young's devotional, Jesus Calling, she mentions different kinds of paths:
  • A Royal Road-Thankfulness, also, is a royal road to draw near Me, Jesus. A thankful heart has plenty of room for Me.
  • Easy Paths-Do not expect an easy path as you journey hand in hand with Me (Jesus), but do remember that I, your very-present Helper, am omnipotent.
  • Steep or Treacherous Paths-No matter how step or treacherous the path before you, the safest place to be is by My side.
  • A Golden Pathway-Trust is a Golden Pathway to heaven. When you walk on this path, you live above your circumstances. Dare to walk on the high road with Me, for it is the most direct route to heaven.
  • A Path of Light-My glorious Light shines more brightly on those who follow this path of Life.
  • Rocky and Steep Paths-Your assignment is to follow Me, Jesus, allowing Me to direct your path. Trust does not falter when the path becomes rocky and steep. Breath deep draughts of My Presence, and hold tightly to My hand. Together we can make it! Instead of assessing your energy level and wondering about what's on the road ahead, concentrate on staying in touch with Me, Jesus.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Are we walking purposefully with Jesus, allowing Him to direct our course one step at a time? Will we allow Him to lead us along a path that is uniquely tailor-made for us?
We are on the right path when we listen to Jesus more and our doubts less. He will lead us along the way He designed just for each of us.
He is the One who goes ahead of us, opening up the way, and dis the same One who stays close and never lets go of our hand!

LET IT GROW

Judah was on the wrong path, way of life. Theirs was one of wasting and destruction (verse 7); theirs was a crooked path that was not a way of peace (verse 8).

The way of peace Israel did not know; according to Falwell, who quotes Delitzsch II, the way refers to "a high road on an embankment; their goings refers to a carriage road; and crooked paths refers to a footpath formed by a constant passing to and fro of travelers."

It sounds like Judah's problem was that they took the wrong path for their lives. They must have been on a common path traveled by many other travelers.

New Living Translation says verse 8 like this: They don't know where to find peace or what it means to be just and good. They have mapped out crooked roads, and no one who follows them knows a moment's peace.

Their paths of iniquity, sin, were crooked paths. Are our paths crooked or straight?

LET IT GO

Jesus, You have done great things!
Keep each of us on the right path that You have for us.
Help us to trust in You to direct our paths on the Golden Path to heaven.
