Jesus Knows All About You

N.T.#705 "Jesus Knows All About You"

Dec. 31, 2025

John 4-Part 2

God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. (verse 24)

LET IT GLOW

The Samaritan woman was thinking in terms of the physical. Of course, that is all she knew at the time she began conversing with Jesus. She had even been shocked that a Jew, a man, and a religious teacher would even carry on a conversation with a half-breed Samaritan, prostitute, and a woman. However, Jesus was focusing on her need of spiritual water.

As Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman at the well, He sought to help her find a relationship with God (and forgiveness of sins) by giving to her God's living water. (verses 13-14) If only she understood who He was, then she would have been asking Jesus for a drink (of living water, a spiritual new life). (verse 10)

The poor gal was stuck on how Jesus was going to get physical water from the well. He had nothing with which to draw it, much less a cup to use for a drink. Jesus told her the one who drank that water from the well would thirst again, but when one drinks from the water He provides will never thirst again.  That is true, for Jesus is the Savior who provides everlasting life. Only He can quench our thirsty soul. S

... but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (verse 14b)

Folks, have you drank from this well? Is it springing up in you?

If you receive a drink from Jesus, you don't have to come back for another. His living water becomes its own everlasting well. Thirst no more. (Tony Evans)

LET IT GROW

She didn't get it. So Jesus made it personal. He knew her sins that she needed to confess. He told the woman to call for her husband. She admitted that she had no husband.

What were the woman's sins? She had been married 5 times and the man she was living with now was not her husband. Jesus told her that and she thought she was a prophet. He had hit the nail on the head. Then the woman changed the subject to worshiping God.

The time is now for us to worship God in spirit and in truth, for He is a Spirit and is Truth. (verses 23-24)

The woman knew the Messiah, called Christ, was coming and would tell them all things.

Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am He. (verse 26)

She must have believed Jesus to be the Messiah, for she dropped the water pot and went into the city to tell the Good News.

LET IT GO

Friend, drop everything and come to Jesus.

He knows your sins, yet He loves you.

He died in your place, taking your punishment, so you can have everlasting life and abundant life now.

Are You Thirsty?

N.T. #704 "Are You Thirsty?"

Dec. 30, 2025

John 4

And He must needs go through Samaria. (John 4:4)

LET IT GLOW

Is your soul thirsty for purpose of life, love everlasting, or importance? Come to the well that never runs dry-Jesus.

Why did Jesus feel He must go through Samaria? Who was He going to encounter there? Why Samaria, of all places? Let's find out.

Most Jews traveling to and from Jerusalem/Judea and the Galilean area would travel east of the Jordan river in order to avoid going through Samaria. Why?

The Samaritans were idolatrous half-breeds-ethnically pollute religiously confused, and morally debased. (Swindoll)

In order to find the answer, we need to look back into the history of the Samaritans:

  • After the Jews split into the northern and southern kingdom, the northern kingdom established Samaria as its capital.
  • The Assyrians captured the northern kingdom and took many Jews captives and deported to Assyria in 722 B.C.
  • Foreigners were brought into the land to settle and keep peace. (2 Kings 17:24)
  • There was intermarrying between those Jews who remained in the northern kingdom and the foreigners resulting in a mixed race called Samaritans.
  • The Samaritans were considered an impure race by the southern Jews. They were considered to have betrayed their people and nation.
  • The Samaritans set up an alternative center for worship on Mount Gerizim. (4:20)
While there was a long-standing prejudice between Jews and Samaritans, Jesus did not live by such restrictions. He took the shorter route to Galilee. (Don't you think Jesus knew a Samaritan woman in need would be at Jacob's well when He got there? I consider He went that way on purpose.)
[Resource: Life Application Study Bible]

It was necessary for Jesus to go through Samaria.
Isn't it necessary for us to go to our choice house of worship?
Do we expect to meet Jesus there?

LET IT GROW

It was a divine appointment, Jesus meeting a Samaritan woman at a well.
What happened?
  • Taking the most direct route to Galilee, Jesus stopped at Jacob's well at Sychar.
  • Jacob had bought this parcel of ground and later gave it to his son, Joseph. (Gen. 48:22) (Falwell)
  • Jacob was laid to rest there after Israel's Exodus from Egypt. (Joseph 24:32)
  • It was noon when the woman went to the well to fetch water. She avoided getting it in the morning when other women would be there in the morning and evening, for she was an immoral woman. People knew her reputation.
  • Here was a Jewish teacher (Jesus) asking a prostitute Samaritan living in sin, and a woman of whom the Son of God asked for a drink of water. (verse 7)
  • Were His disciples there? No, they had gone into the city to guy meat, so Jesus was alone with her. (verse 8)
  • What was Jesus doing asking her for a drink of water? She was beneath Him as a non-Jew, as a woman, and as a Samaritan. The woman knew her place in society.
  • Jesus replied, "If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water. (verse 10 NLT)
Let's leave the situation there. Jesus didn't want this woman liker her past lovers/husbands had.

Jesus gave this woman an extraordinary message about fresh and pure water that would quench her spiritual thirst forever. The Gospel is for every person, no matter what his or her race, social position, or past sins. We must be prepared to share it at any time and in any place.

In the OT many verses speak of thirsting after God as one thirsts for water. (Psalm 42:1; Isaiah 55:1; Zechariah 13:1) God is called the Fountain of Life (Ps. 36:9) and the Fountain of Living Water. (Jeremiah 17:13) Jesus would bring Living Water that could forever quench a person's thirst for God. Jesus was claiming to be the Messiah. Only the Messiah could give this gift that satisfies the soul's desire. (Life Application Study Bible)

LET IT GO

I like this song:
Like the woman at the well, I was seeking, for things that could not satisfy. And then, I heard my Savior speaking, "Draw from this well that never shall run dry."
Fill my cup, Lord. I lift it up, Lord. come and quench this thirsting of my soul. Bread of Heaven, feed me til I want no more. Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.

Come to Jesus, dear one, and you will find Living Water.

When the End is the Beginning

N.T.#703 "When the End is the Beginning"

Dec. 29, 2025

John 3-Part 7

LET IT GLOW

In chapter 4, John continues to write about the ministry of Christ in Galilee. Hey, what happened to John the Baptist?  John was the forerunner of Jesus. He preached to the Pharisees, Sadducees, multitudes, tax-collectors, soldiers, and to Herod Antipas. You may recall the situation which sent John to jail. He condemned the mess in the palace, resulting in John's head on a platter. (Matthew 14) Before that, John proclaimed Jesus to be the Son of God and even baptized Jesus. They were cousins, you know. Yet Jesus didn't go see John before his death. He sent word reassuring John. It was the end of John's ministry and the beginning of Jesus' ministry. John did a fantastic job, don't you think?

I like how Swindoll puts John's purpose-to clear the way, prepare the way, and get out of the way, Jesus is The Way, The Truth, The Life. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus. (John 14:6)

Have you come to Jesus? Have your loved ones come to Jesus?

LET IT GROW

To be great like John the Baptist, we glean principles from his life:

  1. All leaders serve at God's pleasure. (3:27)
  2. Joy comes from serving God, not from one's title or job description. (verses 28-29)
  3. Genuine humility calls attention to Christ, not to self. (verses 30-34)
John clutched nothing and released everything to the Lord: his following, his popularity, his will. John learned that God owns it all and deserves all the glory; therefore, we find the greatest joy in fulfilling our purpose: to glorify God, and fully to enjoy Him forever.
[Swindoll's Insights on John]

We might think what a horrible way to die, but John did not complain, for he knew he was going to heaven.

LET IT GO
Bitterness, jealousy, envy-give it to God.
Let Him change your heart.
Glory to God!

Where Can You Get a New Heart?

N.T.702 "Where Can You Get a New Heart?"

Dec. 26, 2025

John 3-Part 6

LET IT GLOW

Is life weighing you down? Come for a new heart today. Let Jesus carry those burdens.

Shall we wrap up what happened as Nicodemus and Jesus conversed? He thought salvation meant performing certain religious exercises and holding to particular religious teaching. Remember, he was a Pharisee, a Sanhedrin, a priestly Jews, and well educated in the Word. He had no idea what was involved in salvation and the evidence of it.

When one becomes a Christian, believer in Jesus, God gives:

  • a new heart so everything becomes new;
  • a new mind, like that of Christ, so you think differently;
  • new emotions, so you feel deeply about completely different matters. (Experiencing God Day By Day, a devotional book by Henry and Richard Blackaby)
We don't know if Nicodemus was converted or not. Perhaps the Pharisaical teachings were engrained so deeply in him that it was too difficult for him to let go and trust in Jesus as the Messiah-Savior. Perhaps he did surrender to Jesus his heart. One of those things will find out whenever we get to heaven.

What about you, friend? Have you received a new heart, mind, and emotions after coming to Jesus?

LET IT GROW

In verses 22-36, we read John the Baptist's testimony of Jesus:
  • He is come from above and from heaven. (verse 31)
  • He is greater than anyone else.
  • He testifies about what he has seen and heard, yet few believe what He tells them. (verse 32)
  • He speaks God's Words.
  • God gives Jesus the Spirit without limit. (verse 34)
  • The Father loves the Son and has put everything into His hands. (verse 35)
  • Anyone who believes in God's Son has eternal life.
Anyone who doesn't obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God's angry judgment. (verse 36b)

That is why we witness to the lost and unbelievers. We do not want them to come under God's judgment and spend eternity in hell.

LET IT GO

Jesus, sometimes we grow weary, heavy burdens weigh us down.
Today we need a new heart, mind, and emotions.
Please forgive our sins and create with me and others the newness of life we once had.

Christmas 2025

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Be safe is you are traveling.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

We are so grateful that God has provided a way for us sinners to get to heaven-believing in Jesus as His Son and our Savior!

Every year before our family exchanges gifts, my husband reads Luke 2. It reminds us why and what we are celebrating-the birth of a Savior and King, Jesus Christ.

Such love the Father expressed to us when He gave His most precious gift-His Son.

In His Love,

Linda

Are You a Believer or an Unbeliever?"

N.T.#701 "Are You a Believer or an Unbeliever?"

Dec. 24, 2025

John 3-Part 5

LET IT GLOW

What did Nicodemus learn while speaking with Jesus and about believers?

  • Ye must be born again in order to see the kingdom of God, heaven. (verse 3, 7)
  • You must be born of the Spirit. (verse 5)
  • The Son of man must be lifted up (on a cross) so believers may have eternal life. (verses 14, 15)
  • God sent His Son into the world so people can be saved (from the penalty of their sins). (verse 17)
  • He that believes on Jesus is not condemned.
  • The Light of the world is Jesus Christ, who has come into the world. (verse 19)
  • He that does truth comes to the Light, Jesus, and his deed may be manifested to show he is in God. (verse 21)
This is the first of 10 references used to "eternal life" in John's Gospel. The same Greek word (aionios) is translated 8 times as "everlasting life". The two expressions appear in the NT nearly 50 times. Eternal life refers not only to eternal quantity, but divine quality of life. It means literally "life of the age to come" and refers, therefore, to resurrection and heavenly existence in perfect glory and holiness. This life for believers in the Lord Jesus is experienced before heaven is reached. It is participation in the eternal life of the Living Word, Jesus Christ. (The MacArthur Bible Commentary)

Friend, are you ready for eternal life? Where will you spend it-heaven or hell?

LET IT GROW

He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the Only Begotten Son of God. ((verse 18)

What did Nicodemus learn about those not believing in Jesus?
  • Unbelievers are condemned already. (verse 18)
  • Those who do evil hate the Light. (verse 19)
  • They love darkness, since Light exposes their evil deeds. (verse 20)
  •  They try (in vain) to hide their sinful deeds, and will experience eternal judgment for rejecting the free gift of God-salvation through faith in Jesus as Savior. (verse 20)
Christ concludes their interview with an invitation for Nicodemus to leave his darkness and unbelief and come to the Light. Did Nic take up the challenge and come out of darkness into the Light? The Word does not say.

To "believe" is more than intellectual agreement that Jesus is God. It means to put our trust and confidence in Him that Jesus alone can save us. We trust His Words are reliable; we rely on Jesus for the power to change our heart; we put Christ in charge of our present plans and eternal destiny. If you have never trusted Christ, as your Savior, let this promise of everlasting life be yours-and believe. People often put their faith in good works, skill or intelligence, money or possessions. (Life application Study Bible)

Jesus told Him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father (God) except through Me. (John 14:6)

Ask Jesus to forgive your sins today.

LET IT GO
Only Jesus paid the price for me.
Only His love could set me free.
Nobody else could open heaven's door.
Just Jesus and nothing more.

Glory to God in the Highest!
What a Wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord!

Have You Believed Yet?

N.T.#700  "Have You Believed Yet?"

 Dec. 23, 2025

John 3-Part 4

For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. (verse 17)

LET IT GLOW

Why did God send Jesus into the world?

It wasn't to bring condemnation, but to bring salvation to the people. Love motivated God to send Jesus to provide for our salvation. We are sinners and condemned to death to begin with, friend. God's grace offers us a way out of spiritual death and punishment for our sins.

Condemn means decide (mentally or judicially); punish; avenge; sentence to; call in question; to try.

Condemnation only comes to the one who does not believe in the One and Only Son of God-Jesus. Salvation from sin and judgment is free for the taking. (Tony Evans)

It's like a person who rejects the cure a doctor offers, don't blame him when for your fatal illness.

Have you been saved from the penalty of sin?

LET IT GROW

He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the Only Begotten Son of God. (verse 18)

There are two kinds of people in the world:

  1. Those who believes in Jesus, put their faith in Jesus, have everlasting life in heaven.
  2. Those who have not believed in Jesus and stand condemned already. They are sentenced (condemned) and await only the execution of that sentence.
Which type are you?

God's love reaches out and draws others in. We see His pattern of true love-self-sacrifice. God paid dearly with the life of His Son, the highest price He could pay. Jesus accepted our punishment, paid the price for our sins, and then offered us the new life that He had bought for us. (Life Application Study Bible)

Believing in Jesus as your Savior is not just intellectual knowing about Jesus, but it includes trust and commitment to Christ as Lord and Savior which results in receiving a new nature, a change in heart, and obedience to the Lord. (MacArthur)

Are we willing to give up our comfort and security so others might join us in receiving God's love?

LET IT GO

Change our heart, Lord Jesus, into what You want it to be.
Fill us with Your love this week, Jesus.
What a Wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord!

Glory to God in the Highest.

Where Are You Spending Eternity?

N.T.#699 "Where Are You Spending Eternity?"

 Dec. 22, 2025

John 3-Part 3

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (verse 16)

LET IT GLOW

When we are you, we may not think about dying. It's when we age that we have more yesterdays than tomorrows. Where will you spend eternity after you die? You can spend it in heaven. continue to find out how.

Did you memorize John 3:16 as a child? This is the Gospel in a nutshell. The love of God is shown in action:

  1. The source of love-God;
  2. The extent of love-the world;
  3. The sacrifice of love-He gave His only begotten son;
  4. The results of love-whosoever believeth in Him should not perish. (Liberty Bible Commentary)
Everlasting in the Greek language means eternal; for ever.

Human hearts are the same the world over-in rebellion against God, suffering from the disease of sin, and dying... until they discover the simple (and profound) truth of God's love for us in Jesus Christ. (Billy Graham)

When you trust in Jesus alone as your personal sin-bearer, divine judgment is removed and eternal life is freely given. (Tony Evans)

LET IT GROW

Do you want everlasting life? Believe in Jesus and trust in Jesus as your Savior. Plan and simple. We all will live forever, our soul will continue on. The thing is, where will it spend eternity-heaven or hell?

All you have to do is believe in Jesus, not your works or merits.

Believeth means to have faith (with respect to a person or thing); credit; to entrust (one's spiritual well-being to Christ); put trust in.

We all sin. The penalty of sin is death-spiritually. Jesus came, lived a sinless life, died in our place to be our penalty for our sins. Dear one, reach out and trust Him today.

This is a good time for us to ask our loved ones where they are spending eternity. God's free gift is living forever in heaven with Jesus and other believers. Will I see you there?

LET IT GO

In Christ alone my hope is found. And I will glory in the power of the cross. In every victory, let it be said of me-my source os strength is in Christ alone.

Thank You Jesus for dying for me a sinner.

Do You Have a New Heart?

N.T.#698 "Do You Have a New Heart?"

Dec. 19, 2025

John 3-Part 2

LET IT GLOW

Are you in need of a new heart? Is your heart stubborn and stony? Perhaps someone you know and care about has this kind of heart. Read on to find how this can be changed into a tender heart.

Why did Nicodemus go to speak with Jesus at night? Here was a well-educated Pharisee, a Sanhedrin, and a Jew. He knew the Scriptures and Law very well, more than most.

Nicodemus went by night to Jesus under the cover of darkness in order to avoid scorn of his fellow Pharisees-especially in light of Jesus' cleansing of the temple. He didn't want to admit his admiration of Jesus during the daytime! Most of his colleagues did not feel the same way, though. They would grow in their opposition and hatred of Jesus.  Nicodemus considered Jesus a teacher who came from God, able to perform miraculous signs because God was with Him. That was a compliment. (The Tony Evans Bible Commentary)

What were the questions Nicodemus asked Jesus?

  1. How can a man be born when he is old?
  2. Can a man enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
  3. How can these things be?
Nicodemus was thinking physical rebirth, but Jesus was speaking of spiritual rebirth. He needed a new heart.

In Ezekiel 11:19-20, the Lord says, And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart so they obey My decrees and regulations. (New Living Translation)

Come to Jesus. Admit to Him you are a sinner. Ask Him to forgive your sins. Believe Jesus is God's Son and paid the price for your sins. Then your hard, stubborn heart will become tender.

LET IT GROW

Jesus didn't beat around the bush. He knew Nic's heart.

What were some profound wisdom Jesus gave to Nicodemus and us?

  • Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (verse 3)
  • Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (verse 5) Baptism shows what the Holy Spirit (water) has done in a person's heart. It is not part of salvation, but the result.
  • To become a part of God's spiritual kingdom, one must experience a spiritual birth. (verse 7)
  • We can only observe the results of salvation, like we can't see the wind but we can observe the results. (verse 8)
  • New birth through the Spirit comes through experience. (verse 11)
  • Knowledge of heavenly things comes only through Jesus. (verse 13)
  • Sin caused God to punish the Israelites in Numbers 21. Moses made a brass serpent and lifted it up so the sick could look to it and be healed.  So must the Son of man be lifted up on a cross. (verse 14)
  • That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. (verse 15)
Are you a born-again believer in Jesus? Are you seeking eternal life in heaven? It is not by works, but by faith.

LET IT GO

Some things we must let go in order to become a Christian-pride, self esteem and bow down to King Jesus and beg for mercy.

Letting go of every single thing, we surrender at Your feet, Jesus.

Have You Been Born Again?

N.T.#697 "Have You Been Born Again?"

Dec. 18, 2025

John 3

LET IT GLOW

How can a person be born again? Read on and find out.

In this chapter, we read of a Pharisee named Nicodemus coming to Jesus by night.

Who was Nicodemus?

  • A man of the Pharisees. (verse 1) Pharisees clung to the law of Moses, a tight-knit brotherhood, a political and religious party. they knew the Scripture and applied it to everyday life, to a very restrictive sense.
  • A ruler of the Jews. Jews looked to the high priest for leadership while foreign governors ruled the land. Rome dominated Israel; the high priest presided over a council of 70 statesmen and notable religious figures. This was called the Sanhedrin. It was like a Congress and Supreme Court or a Parliament.
  • The teacher of Israel. (verse 10) He was regarded as the most preeminent voice of religious teaching in Israel. He had a remarkable astute theological mind. (Perhaps like a seminary professor?)
  • Nicodemus called Jesus "Rabbi," referring to Him as a teacher come from God because of the miracles He did. (Swindoll's Insights on John)

LET IT GROW

Why did Nicodemus go to Jesus? He sort of interviewed Jesus from verses 1-21; the two had a conversation. Jesus knew Nicodemus' heart and what he needed.

Jesus contrasted the physical birth with the spiritual birth. In order to enter God's kingdom of heaven, you must be supernaturally born of the Spirit. God works on and in the heart of a person. That one first realizes their sins separate them from God. They believe Jesus can forgive their sins and be their Savior; Jesus is the only way to God. They ask forgiveness of those sins. God cleanses the heart.

Friend, have you sone this? Is Jesus in yur heart? What about family members?

LET IT GO
Come to Jesus.
He can forgive our sins.
Thank You Jesus for Your salvation, love, and mercy!

A Cleansing is Needful

N.T.#696 "A Cleansing is Needful"

Dec. 17, 2025

John 2-Part 3

LET IT GLOW

Don't we spend a lot of time keeping our body clean? From our head to our toes, fingernails to our feet. We do want to be presentable whenever we go out in public. But how much time do we spend focusing on our soul? In today's lesson, we read about Jesus cleaning up the Temple. He drove out those sinful, corrupting people from it. What does the Lord want to drive out in our life?

The faith of the disciples was strengthened because of their seeing Jesus turn water into wine at the weeding celebration. This was the first of many signs, as John calls it. Today we study about the time Jesus cleansed the temple. Is our temple (body) needing cleansed from sin?

Then Jesus, His 5 disciples, mother, and brethren went to Capernaum for a few days. this was the home of James and John. No mention of Joseph has been since Jesus was 12 years old. We assume he had died by this time. Mary may have been staying with Jesus' half-brothers. Every year Jesus and His family visited the Temple to celebrate festivals, observe sacrifices, and glorify God as faithful Jews did.

How faithful are you to attend services to celebrate Jesus' birth and resurrection, to worship each week?

LET IT GROW

The Jewish Law required every male Jew 12 years old and older to attend the Passover. So Jesus and His disciples went to Jerusalem.

In what condition did Jesus find the Temple?

  • People selling oxen, sheep, and doves in the court of the Gentiles. What a terrible scene. The Son of God.
  • The Sanhedrin permitted the selling of sacrificial animals at exorbitant prices.
  • Jesus found money changers allowed to change foreign currency into Jewish money there, also. (verse 14)
  • Christ makes a whip and drives out both the animals and wicked merchants.
  • He overturns the tables and scatters the coins across the floor. (verse 15)
  • Jesus tells those men to Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. (verse 16)
  • The Jews were shocked by the action of Jesus, His authority, and conduct.
  • The Jews wanted a sigh for all of this.
  • Jesus answered and said them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. (verse 19)
[Resource: Liberty Bible Commentary]
Jesus was referring to His body. The Jews were going to hand Him on a cross to die, but He was going to rise from the dead-The Son of God. Many believed in His name when they saw Jesus' miracles. (verse 23) They did not accept Jesus with saving faith, but as a powerful miracle worker.

What does the Lord want to drive out in our life? Do we have sinful habits which need removed?

Have you accepted Jesus as your Savior yet?

LET IT GO

Thank You Jesus for dying for us sinners.
Thank You we come to God through faith in You.
Thank You for grace and mercy!
Help us keep our temple (body) free of sin.

Jesus Can Change Anything

N.T.#695 "Jesus Can Change Anything"

Dec. 16, 2025

John 2-Part 2

LET IT GLOW

What is your need today? Do you need someone's heart changed? Bring them to Jesus. He can change anything.

There are many things to glean from Jesus and His 5 disciples attending a wedding celebration in Cana. John identifies 8 miracles in his Gospel that constitute "signs" or confirmation of who Jesus is.

In The MacArthur Bible Handbook, MacArthur lists 37 miracles Jesus did. So John only mentions 8 out of 37. (Just a tidbit thrown in here.)

Did you notice in verse 2 the word called, which means bid; call forth; whose surname was called.

  • Jesus was invited to this wedding celebration, and He took His 5 new disciples with Him. Jesus graced the party with His spiritual presence, as well as with His first miracle according to John. Christians should invite Jesus into their marriage between a man and a woman.
  • There was a need-the wine ran out, perhaps due to more guests attending the feast than were planned. Mary went to Jesus to supply that need. Did she expect a miracle? She got one whether she expected it or not. (The bridegroom could have sent out for more but did not. Maybe only the servants knew about those empty barrels.)
  • Jesus did rebuke Mary in a way yet did not dishonor her.  Notice Jesus did not call Mary "Mother." As many as Christ loves, He rebukes and chastens. He was 30 years old by now. Their relationship has changed. Mary is not our advocate to the Father God, but Jesus is our advocate.
  • Jesus' hour had not come yet for Him to reveal His deity and working miracles was not yet purposed. Did Mary have the faith that Jesus could provide what was needed? Do we?
  • Christ Jesus granted Mary's desire. We must against hope believe in hope. (Romans 4:18)
  • Jesus could have recommended the servants simply water down the wine to make it last, yet He did not.
  • Whatever Jesus tells you to do, do it. (verse 5)

Christ emphasized that Mary, His mother should no longer think of Him as her son. Jesus' hour had not yet come. She had to have faith in Jesus as Savior, just like you and me.

LET IT GROW

What were Jesus' instructions to the servants:

  • Fill the 6 stone waterpots with water. (17-25 gallons each)
  • They filled the waterpots to the brim. (Complete obedience, not half hearted obedience is what Jesus expects from us.)
  • Dip the liquid and take some to the head waiter.
  • Jesus changed the water into wine. It could have been as much as 150 gallons. It was superior quality wine.
  • The head waiter told the bridegroom he had not used the good wine at the beginning of the feast, but kept the good wine for the last. (verse 10) It was the best and richest kind of wine.
We see the power of God and the grace of the Savior in this miracle. Jesus showed His glory and His disciples believed on Him. (verse 11)

When the Barrel is empty, Where Do You Go?

N.T.#694 "When the Barrel is Empty, Where Do You Go?"

Dec. 15, 2025

John 2

LET IT GLOW

I wonder while Jesus grew up if he did some special little things for His mother. By this time (age 30), Mary knew Jesus had the power of God on Him.

The scene involves Jesus and His 5 disciples going to a wedding. We aren't sure how this came about. Perhaps it was since Nathanael was from Cana. Maybe the wedding was of a close family member and Mary, Jesus' mother was there.

In the East at that time, marriages were arranged by parents, a contract was prepared, vows were spoken in the synagogue, tokens were exchanged, and then the couple returned to their respective homes. They were considered legally married yet lived apart during a betrothal period. That could last 2 months up to a year.  (Swindoll's New Testament Insights on John)

What happened at the celebration and wedding feast?

When the wine ran out, Mary went to Jesus for help. The barrels of wine were empty. It would have shamed the host if his wine ran out for his guests. (Of course, the host had 6 extra guests, too.)

Where do we go whenever we are at the bottom of the barrel? When our life is empty, who fills it?

LET IT GROW

Why? Because Mary knew who Jesus really was-deity. Before He was conceived, an angel told Mary her son would be the Son of the Highest. (Luke 1) Jesus was the Messiah.

How did Jesus respond?
  • Jesus called Mary "woman." It was not disrespectful to her, like we say "Ma'am" or "Madam."
  • "What is it to me and you?"  That was the Greek behind the phrase Jesus used.
  • "My hour has not yet come." Five times in Jesus used this phrase. Three times He said His time had come. Time is referring to His glorification, which was after Jesus' resurrection, from God, and on the Father's timetable. The Messiah's glory would not come from a razzle-dazzle show, not from people, and certainly not on people's timetable.
  • Jesus showed kindness to his mother and host by helping them out of a situation. They were in a pickle all right.
  • Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it. (verse 5) Mary told the servants that.
Notice that Mary submitted to Jesus' way of doing things. She knew Jesus was not just her human son, but the Son of God as well.

Now that is good instruction for us today. Are Mary's words ringing in our ears? The Lord wants us to "do whatever He tells " us to do. He may not describe the path ahead for us. He may not explains His solution to our problems. Jesus simply calls us to obey His revealed Word and direction of the Holy Spirit.

Are we submitting and allowing Jesus to deal with our problems as He sees best?

LET IT GO

Help us turn to You first, Jesus, with our problems and situation.
Give us faith to obey and follow You.
Fill my cup, Lord.
I lift it up, Lord.

Are You Found?

N.T.#693 "Are You Found?"

Dec. 12, 2025

John 1-Part 11

LET IT GLOW

Since I have gotten older, I seem to loose things more often, thinking I put them where I can find them. So I turn to Jesus, because He is all knowing. Yep. Jesus helps me find things, for which I am grateful. I wonder if He smiles when I ask for help. I tend to tell Him it is me again, looking for something.

So far, Andrew and Simon Peter, along with James and John became Jesus' disciples. (Matt. 4:18-22) Then Jesus wanted to go to Bethsaida, which was along the Sea of Galilee. It was the home of the two fishermen Jesus had called to follow Him. It was about a 3 day walk from Jerusalem for them. (Peter lived at Capernaum, the next village, but he and Andrew may have grown up in Bethsaida.)

At Bethsaida, Jesus invited Philip to follow Him, become a disciple. Meeting Jesus had an effect on Philip, since he immediately went out and found his friend Nathanael, sitting under a fig tree. Philip told him about meeting the Messiah, the One which Moses and the prophets wrote about. What an effect Jesus had on Philip. It didn't take long for him to be a witness of Jesus. (verses 43-45)

Are we sharing Jesus with our friends and family during this time of year?

LET IT GROW

How did Nathanael react to Philip's message?

Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, come and see. (verse 46)

What happened next?

  • Jesus described Nate as an Israelite in whom is no guile when seeing him. (verse 47)
  • Also, Jesus told Nate that Philip found him under a fig tree.
  • Nathanael asked Jesus how He knew him.
  • Jesus answered, "Before Philip called thee when under the fig tree, I saw thee." (verse 48)
  • Jesus reveals the penetrating eye of deity. (Falwell)
  • Nathanael proclaims Jesus to be the Son of God, King of Israel. (verse 49)
  • Because Nate believed, he would see greater things than these. (Jesus told him.) (verse 50)
  • They would see as Jacob's ladder, the angels ascending and descending upon Christ. He is the Ladder between God and man since Jesus is the Son of God and the Son of man. (verses 49 and 51)
Not only did Jesus know Nathanael's character, where he was found by Philip, but also what Nate had been thinking. Nate had been thinking about Jacob's ladder while under the fig tree. Jacob had dreamed about such a ladder with angels going up and down on it from earth to heaven.

Jesus is our bridge between heaven and earth. He is the way to heaven. No one comes to Father God except through Jesus. (John 14:6)

Nathanael overcame his skepticism; have you?

John gives us 5 times found (to locate by searching) is used here:
  • Andrew found Simon, claiming to have found the Messiah.(verse 41)
  • Jesus found Philip. (verse 43)
  • Philip found Nathanael, claiming to have found the Messiah. (verse 45)
Dear one, have you found Jesus as your Savior?

LET IT GO

Draw us by faith to You, Jesus.
Help those doubters to let go of any doubt and believe in You, the Son of God.

Is God Calling You?

N.T.#692 "Is God Calling You?"

Dec. 11, 2025

John 1-Part 10  after

LET IT GLOW

When the Holy spirit calls you to salvation in Jesus, do not put it off. I was attending a Vacation Bible School at a different church when the Lord first spoke my heart. I put off salvation a couple of years. It took the death of a classmate and friend to show me death could come at age 16. I realized that I was headed to hell without Jesus.  I surrendered to Jesus one night in my bed. I didn't know the right words, but He knew my heart. Friend, have you surrendered to Jesus as your Savior?

We have read about Andrew and John being followers of John the Baptist when they encountered Jesus. They spent the night with Jesus, of which I wonder what questions they asked the Messiah, the Son of God. Did they examine Him more closely because of John's testimony-Jesus is the Lamb of God?

Eventually, they dedicated their lives to Jesus as true disciples and apostles when He called them to permanent service after these events. At this point John the Baptist fades from the scene and attention focuses upon the ministry of Christ. (MacArthur)

Andrew went to Simon Peter to tell him they had found the Messiah. Whenever Simon encountered Jesus, Jesus changed his name to Peter. It was upon this rock (Peter) that Jesus would build His church.

In Matthew 4 and Mark 1, we find Peter and Andrew back at their job of fishing. Then Jesus said to them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. (Matt. 4:19)

How did the two men react? Straighway they left their nets and followed Jesus. (Matt. 4:19)

Straightway means at once or soon; immediately.

Jesus wanted Peter and Andrew to be part of His ministry and His disciples. Are we obedient to the calling of Jesus on our life?

LET IT GROW

Have you noticed that John did not tell about his calling to the kingdom work?

Matthew 4:21 tells us about it. John and his brother James were fishing with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. Then Jesus called them, too.

And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed Him. (Matt. 4:22)

Those 4 men responded by faith to Jesus' calling upon their lives and His lordship.

When the Spirit calls you to salvation, do it immediately.

LET IT GO

Help us let go of pride and surrender to You, Jesus, today.

Come and See

N.T.#691 "Come and See"

Dec. 10, 2025

John 1-Part 9

LET IT GLOW

Have you been curious as to whom Jesus is? So were two men in our reading today.

John wrote about 4 consecutive days as he observed John the Baptist and events during those days:

Day 1: John admitted he was not the Messiah. (verse 19)

Day 2: He identified Jesus as the Messiah. (verse 29)

Days 3 and 4: Jesus called His first 5 disciples. (verses 35-43)

John the Baptist was with two of his disciples, Andrew and John the author, when John the Baptist pointed to Jesus and proclaimed Him to be the Lamb of God.  Andrew and John trailed after Jesus. He asked the two what their intentions were. Were they desiring to become Jesus' disciples/followers? Apparently so, since they asked where Jesus was staying.

Jesus accepted Andrew and John since He told them to come and see. The two did so and stayed with Jesus that night. We don't know what Jesus taught or revealed to the two.

Who do we seek?

When Jesus bids us to come and see, do we?

LET IT GROW

Andrew must have been excited to have found Jesus because he went 70 miles north of Jerusalem to share the Good News with his fisherman brother Simon (later named Peter). Simon owned a fishing enterprise in Galilee. Maybe Simon was nearby visiting the Temple in Jerusalem. We aren't told for sure where Simon was at that time. At any rate, Andrew announced that he had found the Messiah, the Christ, and brought his brother to see Jesus.

Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone. (verse 42)

Simon's new name would be Kepha, which means rock in Aramaic; Cephas in Greek and Petros/Peter meaning stone in Greek. (Swindoll)

We can read how God used Peter later in his life for kingdom work. Peter did not know what lie ahead of him.

Jesus saw people not as what they were, but as who they would ultimately become. The same is true today for you and me.

LET IT GO

What do you need to let go when coming to Jesus?

Has He changed your heart?

The Lamb of God

N.T.#690 "The Lamb of God"

Dec. 9, 2025

John 1-Part 8

LET IT GLOW

Probably I have mentioned before that our granddaughter showed lambs at the county fair for several years. I have observed the lambs and have concluded that they are teachable, vulnerable, and sweet animals to be around. They can be taught to follow the owner without a halter, eat in a particular pen, hold a stance during judging, stand still during sheering (most of the time), and trust their master.

We have a Lamb who can be trusted, provides for us, leads us, protects us. Is He your Sacrificial Lamb?

In verses 29-36, how does John the Baptist describe Jesus? (When a phrase or word is mentioned at least twice, it not worthy.)

  • Twice John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God. (verses 29. 36) He was a lamb without spot or blemish, lived a perfect life-sinless.
  • He said that Jesus takes away the sin of the world. We receive forgiveness when we confess our sin to Jesus and ask His forgiveness. (verse 29)
  • John says twice that he knew not Jesus. (verses 31, 33) Probably John knew Jesus just as a cousin. God had not revealed Jesus' identity as Messiah until this time.
  • John knew that Jesus existed before him, saying it three times, although Jesus' ministry was after John's. (verses 15, 27, 30)
  • John said he was unworthy to untie Jesus' sandals. (verse 27)
  • John baptized in water, which he mentions 3 times. (verses 26, 31, 33)
  • John saw the Spirit descend upon Jesus like a dove and abode with Him. (verse 32) God told John this would happen; and Jesus would baptize with the Holy Ghost. (verse 33)
In the Old Testament, the sacrificial system required a perfect lamb to be slaughtered in place of the people, so their sins could be cover with its blood. Jesus is our Sacrificial Lamb that takes away our sins by shedding HIs blood on the cross. He lived a perfect life and did not deserve such treatment.

LET IT GROW

In conclusion, John the Baptist's testimony of Christ Jesus is that He is the Son of God. (verse 34)

Friend, do you believe this is truth?

The Holy Spirit comes upon all believers, empowering them to live and to teach the message of salvation. This happened after Jesus had risen from the dead and ascended into heaven. (20:22; Acts 2)
[Life Application Study Bible]

Looking at John's life, we can say John was extraordinary, but only human. He was a lamp, but not the Light; a voice, but not the Word. John was effective, but remained humble. (Swindoll)

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing. (Revelation 5:12-13)

LET IT GO

Than You Jesus for taking our place as payment for our sins!

Such grace and mercy!

We worship You, sweet Lamb of God.

Baptism

 N.T. #689  "Baptism"

Dec. 8, 2025

John 1-Part 7

LET IT GLOW

Have you been baptized as a believer in Jesus? Is it important? John was baptizing people and he was questioned about it. How did he answer?

The Pharisees asked John the Baptist why he was baptizing, if he was not Christ, Elijah, nor a prophet? (verse 25) John's answer was showing a difference between what he is doing with water and what the Messiah will do with the real thing, the cleansing power of the Holy Spirit. (Mark 1:8)

Come to think about it, they had never seen a baptism before John did it.

Baptize means to make fully wet.

It is not sprinkling, but baptism is completely covered with water, full immersion. Baptism is symbolic of a heart cleansed of sin. Those guys had not know such a thing. Pharisees only cared about rules, regulations, rituals, and rights. Jews, like Gentiles, needed to repent, confess, their sins. In effect, the Jews were outside of Abraham's covenant with God because of their sin.

For us, Jesus is the one through whom we come to God. Believe His is God's Son, the Savior who takes away our sin. Jesus paid the price so we did not have to. He was the perfect Lamb of God for us, who died in our place.

Have you trusted in Jesus as your Savior? Do you have family members who need Jesus?

LET IT GROW

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (verse 29)

John saw Jesus and identified Him, not as the King of Israel, the Prophet, or even the Messiah, but first as "the Lamb of God." This was a reference to the Passover lamb (Ex. 12:1-13) and Isaiah's messianic imagery in Is. 53:7. (Swindoll)

What the Old Testament lamb could not do, Jesus is doing-forgiving and taking away sins. His grace and mercy is not limited to Jews, but to the entire world. (Falwell)

Back then, God required a stainless and perfect lamb as a sacrifice for the Jews' sins. The blood sacrifice only hid sin, but Jesus' blood washes it away, removing it from the heart. Jesus is the bridge for us to God. However, when Jews (and Gentiles) are not willing to accept this gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, their sin barrier is not removed.

LET IT GO

May we confess our sins to You, Sweet Jesus.

We are sinners in need of a Savior, Your love and mercy, forgiveness.

Who Was John the Baptist?

N.T. #688  "Who Was John the Baptist?"

Dec. 5, 2025

John 1-Part 6

LET IT GLOW

Who was John the Baptist? In chapter 1, this seemed to have been an important thing to know.

What do we know about John the Baptist?

  • We know his father was a priest, Zechariah, and mother Elisabeth whose lineage was of Aaron.
  • We know he was a miracle child born to older parents.
  • Angel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah while praying with the good news of their having a son and to name him John. (Luke 1:6)
  • John's purpose was to prepare the way for the Lord and to turn Israel back to their God.
  • Zechariah's doubt was a punishment and a sign-speechless for 9 months until it was time to name the baby John.
  • John was raised according to the Nazarite vow.
  • John was a cousin of the Lord Jesus.
  • There were no less than 16 quoted from the Old Testament prophesying the coming Messiah and His forerunner found in Luke.
  • John dressed in camel's hair and a leather girdle, similar to Elija's clothing. (2Kings 1:8 and Matthew 3:4) His food was locusts and wild honey, which was eaten by very poor people. He lived in the wilderness.
  • People confessed their sins and were baptized by John.
  • John was humble, telling of One to come who was greater than he was, whose sandals he was unworthy to unlatch, and who would baptize the people with the Holy Ghost and fire. (Matt. 3:11)
John must have created quite a stir among the Jewish people. He was on a mission from God and people were responding. John was baptizing repentant people in the Jordan River.

LET IT GROW

The Sanhedrin sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem into the wilderness to find out who John the Baptist was. (John 1:19) Probably jealousy had them curious about such a popular man., wondering what his credentials were. Was John a false prophet? Actually, those guys were asking John who he thought he was.
  • Was John the Christ?
  • Was John an incarnate of Elijah, who was taken up in a fiery chariot?
  • Was John a prophet?
  • John was not the Christ Messiah, not Elijah back from the dead, nor was he a prophet.
  • I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said of the prophet Elijah. (Isaiah 40:3)
  • John thought of himself not as important, not a prophet, not a remarkable worthy man of God, not even a man to be noticed. Yet he was all of those things. (Swindoll)
John was preparing them to recognize who Jesus was. The Messiah was present in their time.
The important thing to know is not who John was, but who Jesus is. Is He your Savior, your King, your Messiah?

LET IT GO

Help us stand for the truth, be uncompromising, live for Jesus, and point others to the Savior.

Grace

N.T.#687  "Grace"

Dec. 4, 2025

John 1-Part 5

LET IT GLOW

We all need grace. How do we obtain it? Read on, my friend.

In the rest of the chapter, Christ is proclaimed as the Messiah by several-John the Baptist, Andrew, Simon Peter, Philip, and Nathanael. We read about John the Baptist's ministry, which came before Jesus' ministry. Although, Jesus existed before John in eternity. (verse 15)

As believers, we receive grace for grace of Jesus. (verse 16)

What does that mean?

  • It is super abundance of grace toward us by God for mankind.
  • Salvation is the greatest gift and man's greatest need.
  • Grace is what God does for man, not what man does for God or himself.
  • For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • The Law was given by Moses, which reveals our sinful condition. However, the Law could not give us grace and truth. The Law could not transform the sinful heart.
  • Grace and truth are not provided by the Law, but by Jesus Christ.
  • Grace was to forgive and pardon the sinner.
  • Truth was that which the sacrifices pointed to. These are only found in Jesus.
What amazing grace! When we receive the substitutionary atoning death of Christ on the cross, our sins are forgiven and eternal life is imparted. What we can't do for ourselves, God's grace supplies.
It is like waves crashing on the seashore. God's grace is inexhaustible supply of His goodness that continuously brings His favor to His people.
[Resources: Liberty Bible Commentary; The Tony Evans Bible Commentary]

LET IT GROW

No man has seen God at any time; the Only Begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him. (verse 18)

What does this mean?
  • God is a Spirit and cannot be seen by man. (1 Tim. 6:16)
  • Christ revealed God to man.
  • Moses saw only the backside of God's glory.  No one can see God's face on this side of eternity and live. (Ex. 33:18-23)
  • Jesus' life expressed the divine nature of God. Since Jesus is fully God, to know Jesus is to know God.
  • The only way to God is through the Son. (14:6)
Want to know God? Then come to Jesus.

Grace

N.T.#686 "Grace"

Dec. 3, 2025

John 1-Part 4

LET IT GLOW

When we believed in Jesus, called on His name, and received Him as our Lord and Savior, we became a child of God.  (verse 12) Then we are reborn spiritually, not on the basis of lineage or Jewish heritage, not of because of a carnal desire (flesh), not of our will or human in its origin. We have a changed heart-new attitudes, desires, and motives. How? It is a supernaturally of God. (verse 13)

LET IT GROW

How does John describe Jesus in verse 14?

  • The Word was made flesh. Jesus became human, taking on a body.
  • Jesus dwelt among us. Dwelt means to encamp or reside. Jesus was a fully divine nature and a fully human nature. He faced hunger, pain, temptation, grief, hardship, and rejection.
  • Those who saw Jesus beheld His glory, the Father, because Jesus is the only Begotten Son of God. Peter, James, and Joh saw Jesus transfigured before their eyes.
  • Jesus is full of grace and truth. John probably had in mind when God displayed His glory to Moses in Exodus 33-34.
The attributes of God are: merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth. (Exodus 33:18, 19; 34:5-7)

Aren't we believers to have those same attributes?

In the Greek language, grace means gracious (divine influence up the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude; favor, acceptable, thank, gift.

Do we show grace, God's grace, to others?

LET IT GO

Fill us with Your grace and truth, Lord.

May we have a grateful heart, full of grace.

Thank You Jesus for Your grace toward us.

God's grace is greater than all our sin.

Do You Have the Light?

N.T.#685 "Do You Have the Light?"

Dec. 2, 2025

John 1-Part 3

LET IT GLOW

Who is Jesus to you? Do you have the Light of the world in you?

John makes a contrast of John the Baptist and Jesus. John was not the Logos/Word but was a human individual. John was sent from God, not God Himself. John was a witness to bear witness of the Light so people had a saving faith in the Light/Jesus. John was not the Light. (verses 6-8)

Jesus Christ was the true Light, genuine and real Light. He is the one who gives to every man the light of reason and conscience. The world rejected Jesus, did not acknowledge nor recognize Him as the son of God and the Messiah. The Jewish leaders would not receive Jesus as their King nor as the Messiah. (verses 9-11) (Liberty Bible Commentary)

Sin blinds people so that they do not know their own Creator.

LET IT GROW

But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. (verse 12)

Receive means to accept for one's self.

Believe means to place one's trust in.

Power means the right or authority to become the sons of God. (Liberty Bible Commentary)

Dear friend, have you received Jesus Christ as your Savior? Have you placed your trust in Him?

To receive Christ is like welcoming a guest into your home. We believe in Jesus as The Savior, son of God, The One who took our place as punishment for our sins. We ask Jesus to forgive our sins and become our Savior. We become born again-spiritually. His free gift is eternal life.

Praise God for calling you to this life-giving faith!

LET IT GO

Jesus, help us let go of our sinful ways, lack of faith and trust, and a life that does not please You.

Lord, please save the lost who needs You today.

We owe You all.

Help us reflect The Light and point others to You, Jesus.

Show us the way along the path of faith with Your Light.

Life and Light

John 1-Part 2

LET IT GLOW

Who is the Word? Jesus is the Word. If you missed the last post, be sure and read it. Many things are explained there.

Not only was the Word with God, but also the Word was God. (1:1) The Son of God was with the Father God, but not two distinct gods. The Son shares the divine nature. The Father, Son, and Spirit are co-equal members of the Trinity. Our one God exists in three co-equal persons. (Tony Evans Bible Commentary)

Remember, the purpose in John writing this Gospel is wo we might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. (20:31)

In this chapter, John tells us about the Word in creation, after the fall, and the true Light/

  • Since Jesus is the Word, we know that Jesus made all things and apart from Him not a single thing that exists came into being.  (verse 3) (William Hendriksen)
  • God was not created, for He has always existed.
  • In Jesus was life (zoe) and light  (phos/foce) means to shine or make manifest.(verse 4)
  • Life is not from Him, or though Him, or by Him, but life is in Him/Jesus.
  • Life spoken of is not life in a physical sense but rather in a spiritual sense. Joh uses life 54 times in his gospel. His is the first epistle to refer to the spiritual realm.
  • Jesus continues to shine as the Light in darkness., but the darkness (unbelief and sin of mankind, does not grasp or comprehend it. the hostility of darkness is unable to put out the Light in the spiritual sense. (verse 5)
When I lived in the old farmhouse, it was easy for me to walk around inside in the dark. I grew up there and lived there for many of my married years. However, when we stay in a motel, I need a light on so I can see how to walk around. As a believer, I always need the light of Jesus in my life so I know which way to walk.

Are you walking by faith and obedience in the Light today?

LET IT GROW

Jesus' life brings light to humankind. In His light, we see ourselves as we really are-sinners in need of a Savior. Jesus lights our path as believers so we can see how to live.
Have we allowed the light of Christ to shine into our life?
When we let Jesus guide our life, we will never need to stumble in darkness.

LET IT GO

Open our eyes so we can see our sins and turn from them.
Be the light unto our path, Lord Jesus.
May we shine into a dark world so we honor You.
