Guilty or Innocent?

 N.T.#302 "Guilty or Innocent?"

Matthew 27-Part 6

LET IT GLOW

Pilate's wife sent him a message to leave that just (innocent, righteous) man alone, for she had a terrible nightmare about him (Jesus) last night. She had a influence upon her husband, obviously. When the governor asked the crowd who they wanted released, they shouted Barabbas' name. A thief and murderer released on the streets, really people?

Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified. (verse 22)

The chief priests and elders of the Jews, who were to be the spiritual leaders and living close to God, envied Jesus so much that they wanted Him killed. Crazy people! A man innocent of blaspheme and heresy, lying and hatred, but was compassionate, loving, and forgiving-they wanted Him out of their lives. What a mistake! Now they know the truth-Jesus is the Christ (Annointed One) , the Son of God.

Friend, what shall you do with Jesus?  Have you told others lately who Jesus is?

LET IT GROW

"Crucify Him!" the crowd was shouting.

To prevent a riot, Pilate saw he was getting nowhere with those determined men. What did Pilate do?

Pilate's wife obviously had a great influence upon her husband. He sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just (innocent, righteous), the responsibility is yours! (verse 24)

How are you influencing people for Jesus?

How did all the people respond? His blood be on us, and on our children. (verse 25)

The cross that had been prepared for Barabbas would be used for Jesus. Sin blinded the hearts and minds of the Jews that day. Satan must have been doing a victory dance. yet he didn't understand that it was all in God's plan of redemption.

Is Jesus your Redeemer, your family's Redeemer?

LET IT GO

Jesus, how innocent and just You are!

You are my Redeemer and Savior.

Please have mercy on those who come to read this today and save them.
