Joel 2-Part 8

LET IT GLOW

According to Psalm 121, God is our help, keeps and protects us, as well as preserving us. Look at verses 5-8:

The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

According to Wiersbe, my Father's creation is before me, His eyes are upon me, His presence is beside me, and His care is around me. While God is on His throne, He is at our side to shield us from harm.

He is our shade (defence) when we need it. So we need not fear life or death, today or tomorrow, time or eternity since we are in the loving care of our Father. His grace can turn things we think evil into good.

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)

Whatever you need, friend, God is there.

Who can mind the journey when the road leads home?

LET IT GROW

Before the judgment day or the Day of the Lord comes, what will happen according to verses 28-32? God will pour our His Holy Spirit. When that happens, what will occur?

• Sons and daughters will prophesy.
• Men shall dream dreams.
• Young men shall see visions. (verse 28)
• The male and female servants will have the Spirit poured out upon them. (verse 29)
• God will show great wonders in the heavens and on the earth. (verse 30)
• Before the great and terrible day of the LORD, the Great Tribulation, the sun will darken and the moon red. (verse 31)

Joel's prophecy has partially been fulfilled. After the death and resurrection of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, came the Holy Spirit. On the day of Pentecost when Peter preached (Acts 2), and God sent His Spirit upon the people. Peter quoted these verses in his sermon. Especially verse 32 of Joel 2:

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be delivered...

There were about 3,000 souls that repented of their sins and were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. (They were added unto the church that day.) 

When the Millennial Kingdom comes, Israel will be cleansed of their sins, believe in Jesus as the Messiah, and filled with the Holy Spirit. Mount Zion and Jerusalem will be delivered.

The church was established and has the Spirit of God to lead her. Paul quoted Joel 2:32 to the church at Rome in Romans 10:13:

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved.

Dear one, have you called upon the name of Jesus to save you from your sins and forgive you?

LET IT GO

Jesus, You can do amazing things.

May we forever be devoted to You.

Lead us in Your Kingdom work.

Glory to God in the Highest!

Holy Spirit fill us so we tell of all the wondrous things You do for Your children.

Rejoice, for a Savior has come!
