Ezekiel 31

LET IT GLOW

Looking at Psalm 36 today.

Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. (verse 5)

Ho excellent is Thy lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Thy wings. (verse 7)

O continue Thy lovingkindness unto them that know Thee; and Thy righteousness to the upright in heart. (verse 10)

Where does David turn to find relief from the wickedness that surrounds him? He meditates on God, comparing His faithful love, faithfulness, righteousness, judgments to the grandest aspects of the created world. (verses 5-6) (Tony Evans)

What is the priceless treasure that the wealthiest man in Israel had? It was the faithful love of God. Is God our source of abundance in provisions? Are we satisfied with the fountain of life, Jesus Christ? Is He our all in all?

Well, I thought I recalled that the Hebrew word for lovingkindness is the word checed (kheh'-sed) that means piety, beauty, favor, good deed, mercy, pity.

God's mercy and lovingkindness is what we need daily.

LET IT GROW

Ezekiel devoted four chapters to the judgment of Egypt and its Pharaoh that was coming. He asks Egypt, "To whom would you compare your greatness?" Assyria was the greatest power in that time. In the parable, Egypt is likened to a lofty cedar, and so is Assyria. Egypt was an ally before it was defeated by Babylon.  Probably, this was written two months before the fall of Jerusalem. Egypt was brought down by Babylon. Egypt's strength and beauty was its downfall. When God comes to contend with great nations, great people, and their great noise, they will become less than nothing. It happen to Pharaoh.

Does God need to bring us down off our high horse? Is pride going to be our downfall?

LET IT GO

Such lovingkindness You show me!

No side effects of my second Covid shot is evidence to me.
