Ezekiel 13-Part 2

You have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge fro the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD. (verse 5)

LET IT GLOW

The false prophets did nothing to develop a strong social, spiritual, and moral structure in Judah.

They did not:

•  repair the breaks in the walls around the nation;
• fill in the gaps on the walls to keep the enemy out, for they became an occult used by Satan;
•  make up the hedge of spiritual protection so Israel could stand in the battle in the day of the LORD. (verse 5)
• tell the truth of the up coming judgment, but told lies, whitewashing over the truth;
• reveal visions from God, but followed their own spirit and mind.

A hedge refers to make a wall, enclosure, to fence up.

Those false prophets in Judah should have made intercession for their people, to turn away the wrath of God; They should have built up their faith and obedience in Almighty God. But they were not praying prophets nor interested in heaven. Their business should have been preaching the truth and advising repentance and reformation for the people, but they were striving to make their people happy.

Psalm 91 speaks of God being our refuge, fortress, deliverer, shield and buckler. He will not allow evil to befall on us, plagues on our household and will answer when we call upon Him, be with us during trouble, and will deliver us, then honor us. He will satisfy us with long life and salvation. This scripture is filled with good promises. I encourage you to read it today. Pray for a hedge of God's protection around our loved ones.

LET IT GROW

Untempered morter is mentioned four times-verses 10. 11. 14, and 15. This is like whitewash, a false hope for Israel given by the false prophets. There would be no peace among the people. Like builders that use whitewash to hide mistakes, those prophets would give false hope to the people that they would not be conquered. However, God saw what they were doing. His judgment was coming so they would know He was God, the LORD.

May we not cover up our sins, but confess them. Then we will have the peace that passeth all understanding.

May we tell the truth today.
