Matthew 2-Part 3

LET IT GLOW

What are you searching for, friend? Is it peace, love, help-they can be found in Jesus Christ. Is your way failing? Jesus can provide you another way. Seek Him first.

The wise men went on a long journey, curious about the bright star, a supernatural sign that led them to Jerusalem. They inquired of this extraordinary sighting and faithful search led them to Herod, king of the Roman Empire. After speaking to him, the wise men traveled 6 miles south to Bethlehem. There they came to Mary's house where they found Jesus, Messiah and Savior, then fell down and worshiped Him. 

What did they do next? They gave Jesus gifts of:

• gold, which was a gift for royalty (Jesus is King);
• frankincense, a gift for deity;
• myrrh, a spice used to anoint a dead body (Christ would die on the cross.)

What is significant about this event? Those gifts provided money for Joseph and Mary to take Jesus to Egypt, where He was safe from Herod who made a decree to kill all male babies age 2 and under. God provided.

Deuteronomy 4:29 says, But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find Him, if thou seek Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

Seek ye the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. (Is. 55:6)

And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart. (Jer. 29:13)

LET IT GROW 

Where did the wise men go after such an amazing event? They headed back home. Why did they go a different way that was not through Jerusalem?

And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. (verse 12)

They went God's way as He directed and He protected them.  He does that when we put our trust in God, not mankind.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)

God can provide another way for us when our way fails.

LET IT GO

Lord Jesus, You are The Way.

Forgive us when we fail to go Your way, but go our way.
