"Who Denied Jesus?"

N.T.#294 "Who Denied Jesus?"

April 30

Matthew 26-Part 17

LET IT GLOW

Previously, verse 67 told us Jesus was spit upon, hit with a fist (buffeted), and slapped (smote).

Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee? (verse 68)

They violently abused, mocked, and ridiculed Jesus, yet He did not return the same. Isaiah 53:7-8 predicted this would happen to Him. Jesus did not open His mouth to answer nor rebuke the Sanhedrin. It was due to the rebellion of the Jews that Jesus suffered, yet it was for us Gentiles, too. We cannot meat God's standards of being good, for we all sin and come short.

1 Peter 2:21-23 says, For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps. Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth. Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously.

Christ suffered for us, in our behalf and instead of us. He left us an example to follow His humility, following exactly in clear footprints. Jesus suffered as the Servant of Jehovah, which will happen to us if and when we suffer as a servant of God. He left revenge to God, not taking it up Himself.

Have you suffered for being a believer in Jesus Christ? We have a Savior who understands our sufferings. Take your burdens to Him.

LET IT GROW

Did you know that those trials before Annas and Caiaphas, as well as the Sanhedrin, were illegal:

Annas had no jurisdiction, the trials were held at night, Jesus was abused during the trials, they used false witnesses, there was no formal charge (just blaspheme), and it was an improper voting.(Luke 22)

The fourth trial was held before Pilate, governor of Judea from 26-36 AD. Matthew 27 tells us about it.

However, Matthew inserted Peter's three denials during the trial proceedings. He sat in the courtyard or outside the palace. We read it in verse 69-75:

  1. The first denial involved a girl identifying Peter and John, maybe from an earlier meeting. You were with Jesus of Galilee. Peter said, I know not what thou sayest..(verse 69-70)
  2. When Peter went out to the porch, another girl saw him and said, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth. (verse 71) Again Peter denied with an oath, I do not know the man.
  3. In less than an hour, some stood by Peter and accused him of being one of them because his speech gave him away. I know not the man. (verse 73)
Immediately the rooster crowed. Peter remembered Jesus told him that would happen, denying Jesus 3 times before the cock crowed thrice. (Luke 22:61)

And the Lord turned and looked upon Peter. (verse 61) Peter went out and wept bitterly. (Luke 22:62)

Don't you know his sin cut out Peter's heart. He could not take back the three denials of knowing Jesus. Later, Jesus made Peter publicly confess three times that he love his Lord. (John 21:15-19)

Have we been like Peter? Maybe we have not denied Jesus with words, but with our lifestyle?

LET IT GO
Please for me Gracious Lord Jesus when I do not keep my mouth shut at the proper time.
Please forgive me when I do not proclaim You as Savior at the proper time.
Please forgive my lifestyle when it does not honor you, nor my words.

Endurance

N.T.#298 "Endurance"

April 29, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 16

LET IT GLOW

Caiaphas understood that Jesus was affirming both His messiahship and His deity for he accused Jesus of blasphemy (rail against God), so he asked the crowd of Sanhedrin what they thought to be done with Jesus. Their answer was, He is guilty of death. (verse 66)

Then what happened to Jesus? Then they spit in His face, and buffeted Him, and others smote Him with the palms of their hands. (verse 67)

Instead of worshiping the Messiah as they should have, they wickedly mocked and abused Jesus. (verse 67)

  • First, they spit in His face. How humiliating for the Son of Holy God to be treated this way.
  • Secondly, they buffeted  (hit with fist) Him. That would have been painful, yet Jesus took it.
  • Others smote (slapped) Jesus, the Christ, the Son of the Living God.
This was only the beginning of pain for Jesus to experience. Jesus had refused to answer on the spot, resulting in the first of many blows at the hands of His captors. (John 18:22)

LET IT GROW

Think of all the hostility He endured from sinful people; then you won't become weary and give up. (Hebrews 13:3)

And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. (Hebrews 12:1b)

If it has been a hard year so far, cling to Jesus. If life has you weighed down, give it to Jesus. Rise up and praise Jesus! He can help us endure and hang on. His promises endure. Let Jesus be our hope.

LET IT GO

Please forgive us Jesus for us of our sins.

Thank You for enduring it all for us.

What a glorious Savior!

Who Do You Say Jesus Is?

N.T.#292 "Who Do You Say Jesus Is?"

April 26, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 15

LET IT GLOW

Thanks to Judas, Jesus had been identified, confronted, and captured.

I like how Charles Swindoll put it: The Jewish leaders considered Jesus of Nazareth to be a false messiah, a charlatan whose words and actions were leading people astray. If He wasn't dealt with expeditiously, He would rile up the common folk and likely cause a revolt, bringing Roman wrath upon the land, upon the people-God forbid-upon the cozy, established leadership of the priests and elders of Israel. The Sanhedrin needed to find Jesus guilty of blasphemy according to Jewish law.

They planned out unjust and illegal trials by the power-hungry priests and corrupt council. Keep in mind that their evil and illegal plan was carried out in the dark. Isn't that the way it goes?

LET IT GROW

Studying deeper into the false trials of Jesus, He stood before 6 corrupt trials with false accusations and after the lying witnesses.

First, Jesus appeared before Annas, a former high priest that same year and father-in-law of Caiaphas. (John 18:13) Annas had great influence over the Sanhedrin and advised Caiaphas. No specific charges were brought by Annas. This priest found Jesus guilty of irreverance and sent Him to Caiaphas. There is more detail of the conversation between the two found in John18:19-23. Annas was interested in Jesus' disciples and doctrine, for He had many followers. Christ appealed to have witnesses produced who could testify about His teachings. They failed to do so, therefore His trial was going to be illegal. (No representation) Annas sent Jesus to Caiaphas.

Secondly, Jesus appeared before Caiaphas, the high priest. We pick up this trial in Matthew 26:57-67. The witnesses against Jesus claimed He said, I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it three days. (Matthew 26:61) This was true, not a false accusation. (John 2:19)

Jesus remained silent. (verse 63) Then Caiaphas said, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. (verse 63)

Adjure means to exact an oath.

The high priest wanted Jesus to stand there and openly admit Him to be the son of the Living God. Instead,

Jesus replied, You have said it. And in the future you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God's right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven. (verse 64, NLT)

Caiaphas accused Jesus of blasphemy in verse 65. Blasphemy means defame; speak evil (the first time it was used) and speaking against God (the second time used)

The high priest tore his clothing to show his horror and said, Blasphemy! Why do we need other witnesses? You have all heard his blasphemy. What is your verdict? (verses 65-66, NLT

Caiaphas was asking the Sanhedrin, the High council of the Jews.

What did they shout? He is guilty of death. (verse 66)

Here was the Son of God, Jesus Christ, proclaiming Truth, for He is Truth. Jesus did not lie, which was a sin. Those previous 25 chapters taught us this. the ones guilty of sin were the high priests and the council. Yet it was in God's ultimate plan. He gave those Jewish leaders a chance to declare faith in Jesus as the Messiah, yet they would not. How sad it must have been for Jesus to seen into their sinful hearts.

Friend, have you declared Jesus is the Messiah and Savior, the Son of the Living God? Better yet, who do you say Jesus is?

LET IT GO

Precious Jesus, forgive us of our sins.

Forgive us when we do not declare You are the Only Savior.

The Plan Was Execution

N.T.#291 "The Plan Was Execution"

April 25, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 14

LET IT GLOW

Peter was rash in cutting off the ear of the high priest's servant. Did you notice none of the other disciples up up a fight. Jesus put the ear back on and healed the man. That was the last miracle He did before the resurrection. Jesus was going willingly with the mob. He assured Peter that taking matters into his own hands was not necessary, for Jesus had 72,000 angels at His command and available to deliver Him. But it was not to be the Father's will. Jesus had already surrendered to that.

Those around were all involved in the situation (even enemies) who fulfilled precisely the details of the Old Testament prophets. They include: Psalm 22:1,6,15,18,  34:20, 41:9, 69:21 Isaiah 1:5, 53:9,12; Zechariah 11:12; 13:7.

Jesus' disciples ran away like sheep fearing the shepherd being killed. It had been a kiss that identified the Messiah and a kess that betrayed Him into the hands of a band, captain, and officers of the Jews. (John 18:12). They would have bound Jesus so He could not escape that time. Keep in mind that it was still dark, so the followers of Jesus in Jerusalem would have been asleep at this time.

Jesus was taken to the house of Caiaphas, the high priest that year.  It was down the steep hill of the Mt. of Olives to Jerusalem and then up a steep hill to the house. Wouldn't it have been difficult walking with hands tied behind your back? And to boot, in the dark? (verse 57)

Oh, the little things that Jesus experienced! Don't you know Jesus had prayed for the repentance of the Sanhedrin? They were assembled, the scribes and elders of the Jewish religious sect. They had a plan and were executing it-kill Jesus. Little did they know that forgiveness for their sins was available.

Are we letting God take revenge for our pain and suffering? Or do we take it into our own hands?

LET IT GROW

But Peter followed Him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end. (verse 38)

There was an open court around the main buildings. Who was attending? The chief priests, elders, council, and false witnesses were there. They tried to find false witnesses against Jesus so they could put Him to death. (verse 59)  A lot came, but only 2 testified. In spite of knowing all this was going to happen, Jesus submitted to it, for it was all in God's plan.

Almost 3 years earlier, Jesus said in John 2:19, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

Christ was referring to the destruction of His body and to His resurrection from the dead. (Falwell)

Aren't you glad that you were not a witness against Christ? Yet, do we share what He has done for us as a witness?

The religious leaders' plan was to execute the Messiah/Savior. What a plan! Although, they didn't realize that they were carrying out God's plan before the creation of anything. Jesus was willing to be our Sacrificial Lamb that takes away sin.

LET IT GO

What a Savior! How wonderful Jesus Christ is!!

Help us submit to Your plans for our life.

Forsaken and Forgiving

N.T.#290 "Forsaken and Forgiving"

April 24, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 13

LET IT GLOW

After the soldiers laid hands on Jesus, and took Him, (verse 50) we know what impetuous Peter did-struck the one person who could have embarrass them the most at the trial. John 18:10 identifies the swordsman as Peter and the victim as Malchus. Peter aimed at the man's head, but he turned, and Peter cut off his ear.

What did Jesus do?

  • Fist, Jesus told Peter to put up his sword. That wasn't necessary, was it? Peter didn't have to defend Jesus. (verse 52a)
  • After all, Jesus could have prayed and 72,000 angels to defend and rescue Him. (verse 53)
  • They that live by the sword, die by the sword. (verse 52b)
  • If Jesus had been rescued, the Scriptures would not have been fulfilled. (verse 54) David spoke of Jesus in Psalm16.
Jesus had previously told His disciples that He would die and rise on the third day. Old Testament prophets foretold of the Messiah's coming. We see His divine sovereignty through the events we read of now. Jesus was in absolute control (John 10:17).

Jesus laid down His life, the Roman soldiers didn't just take it. It was was a voluntary act of sacrifice. He submitted to the Father's will.

Are we willing to lay down our life so the Father's will is done? Are we making sacrifices so it is accomplished?

LET IT GROW

A heavenly army at Jesus' disposal could have outnumbered the soldiers about 120 to 1. (Swindoll)

Yet Jesus did not summon the angels at His disposal. Rather, Jesus stepped forward and voluntarily surrendered to His enemies after surrendering to God's will in the Garden.

Then all the disciples forsook Him, and fled. (verse 56b)

Those faithful 11 disciples of Jesus fled after they declared they would not do so. Jesus was taken prisoner. Not a single one stayed faithful to Jesus. Even Peter fled. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Right? But not the ones who had spent 3 years with the Savior listening to His teachings and prophesies, as well as witnessing His miracles. Jesus' followers and friends left him to endure it all alone.

Do you feel like the disciples are not alone? Haven't we forsaken Jesus some time during our life? Yet forgiveness is Jesus' nature. Lay down our mistakes and sins, sorrows, ashes of a wasted life. Jesus is waiting for us at the altar, open hands, ready to cleanse us of our sins.

LET IT GO

Oh what a Savior!

Christ is risen.

Bow down before Him, for He is Lord of all.

Forgiveness is bought with the prcsious blood of Jesus Christ!

The Father's arms are open wide!

What Are We Here For?

N.T.#289 "What Are We Here For?"

April 23, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 12

LET IT GLOW

Why are we here? What is our purpose in life? Have you figured it out? Are you carrying it out? Things to consider.

We left Peter, James, and John sleeping for a while. Then Jesus said to them in verse 46, Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray Me.

What happened next?

  • Traitor Judas came through the Garden gate during the middle of the night. Judas was allowed to enter the Garden because he was known to the gate keepers. So Judas would easily gain entrance to the private property. Yet, the trio could have prevented Judas' entrance, for they knew the identity of the betrayer at the Last Supper. Jesus' time to be betrayed into the hands of sinners (verse 45) so this was to be.
  • The full moon is always shining at Passover, so the Four saw those intruding their private time, carrying lighted torches.
  • With Judas was a great multitude of armed Roman soldiers carrying swords, while the Jewish temple police had staves (clubs), sent by the chief priests and elders. (verse 47)
  • Judas gave Jesus a kiss of betrayal. It was a sign for the Roman soldiers to identify the Master.
We read more details from John. The band of men refers to a Roman cohort of 600 soldiers who came to take Jesus away. (John 18:3) Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon Him, went forth, and said unto them,  Whom seek ye? (John 18:4)

They answered Him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am He. And Judas also, which betrayed Him, stood with them.  (John 18:5)

What unusual thing happened when Jesus identified Himself as the One the soldiers were seeking? They went backward and fell to the ground. (John 18:6)

Previously, Jesus identified Himself as I am. (John 8:58) Before Abraham existed, Christ was from eternity and was the Great I AM. (Exodus 3:14) Three times in John 18 Jesus identified Himself. (verses 5, 6, 8)

Jesus requested that His disciples be let go their way. (verse 8) Christ knew it would have been too severe a test for their faith, according to Hendriksen.

Do we seek Jesus Christ, the Great I AM? Are we willing to go through whatever God has for us, like Jesus did?

LET IT GROW

Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss to identify Him. Jesus called Jesus Master, which is Rhabbi in the Greek, meaning an official tittle of honor; my Master.

Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss? (Luke 22:48)

My friend, go ahead and do what you have come for. (Matthew 26:50, NLT)

Jesus gave Judas a chance to back out of his guilty, sinful betrayal, yet he did not.

Is Jesus our Master? Does He give us orders and instructions while we obey them? Are we doing what we are here to do? We fail so many times, but Jesus forgives us and lets us serve Him again.

LET IT GO

Thank You Jesus for Your grace and mercy.

There is no other Lord, Master, Savior, Redeemer.

Help us show grace and mercy to others.

Are You Ready?

N.T.#288 "Are You Ready?"

April 18, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 11

LET IT GLOW

Do you find it hard to stay awake at the end of a hard day and pray? I often do. We are not alone, for the 3 men in Jesus' inner circle of disciples did the same.

This was the time that Jesus needed support of His friends, Peter, James, John. He took them a little farther with Him into the Garden of Gethsemane where it was quiet. After spending 3 years meeting needs of people and teaching His disciples, Jesus wanted them to pray with Him and watch for the enemy. They failed and fell asleep.

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (verse 41)

Jesus realized the struggle going on inside Him-flesh and spirit. He put aside His own will to accomplish the purpose of His Heavenly Father-death on the cross for the sins of the world. However, it was weighing Him down. His flesh was weak (strengthless), but the spirit was willing (ready).

In Mark 14:38, Mark says The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

If the Savior struggled with the fleshly desires, then it is common for us to struggle with fleshly desires, too.  Our flesh wants to have its way, eat, drink, go wherever, do whatever it desires. It is the spirit that must win out and take control so we do not fail to do God's purpose and will for His glory.

In the Garden Jesus struggled, but which won in the end? His Spirit won! And aren't we grateful!

If we need to hold our tongue, walk away, quote Scripture, then do it so the Spirit of God wins in our life and we do not sin.

LET IT GROW

Jesus came to the point where He said, Thy will be done. (verses 39 and 42)

After the Spirit won the struggle, Jesus told His disciples to sleep on and take their rest, for the hour was coming when the Son of Man was betrayed into the hands of sinners. remember, Judas slipped out of the Upper Room when Jesus told him to go and do what Judas had to do.

Finally it was time, Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray Me. (verse 46)

Are we ready to stay so close to Jesus that no matter what happens to us, we can stay in His will? Or are we like Peter and say we will remain faithful to Jesus, yet the flesh conquers us and we deny Him?

LET IT GO

Oh what a Savior! Isn't He wonderful! Hallelujah, He overcame the weakness of the flesh and the grave! Christ arose!

Give us strength today to fight the flesh and submit to Your will, Jesus.

Having Struggles

N.T.#287 "Having Struggles"

April 17, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 10

LET IT GLOW

I tend to think God prepares us for trials and troubles ahead. It is when we fall to our knees begging for help through it that He comes through. Jesus knew what was ahead for Him to face. Yet, the Savior had struggles with it, like we do. Comforting, huh?

So we have viewed the plot to kill King Jesus, Mary's anointing, Judas' betrayal plot, the Passover with he disciples, prophecy of Peter's denial, Jesus' agony in the Garden. Coming up in this chapter is Jesus' arrest, His trial before the Sanhedrin, and Peter's denial, Judas' suicide. Thank you for staying with us as we study the events in the last days of Jesus' life on earth and ministry.

Previously, we read about the agony of Jesus at the Mt. of Olives in Gethsemane (which means oil press). This place contained a grove and cluster of olive trees. There may have been a press, a dwelling-house, or at least the usual garden-tower at the foot of the Mount of Olives. It would not have been a well-known place, so the disciples and their Teach Master could have private time from the authorities. If guards were there to protect the property from intruders, Jesus and His disciples would have been welcomed at the gate. Here was where heaven and earth, deity and humanity, locked horns, and the very human will of the God-man submitted unconditionally to the divine will.

After separating Peter, James, and John from the rest of the disciples, Jesus took them to a corner of the olive grove to pray. This was no quiet prayer meeting with close friends.

How does Matthew describe the anguish of Jesus?

  • grieved and distressed, (verse 37)
  • burdened to the point of death, (verse 38)
  • fell on His face, pleading with His Father, (verse 39)
  • wrestling, struggling, coming to terms with the torturous suffering in mind, emotion, body, and soul that was about to occur the following day.
  • Jesus sweat fell to the ground like drops of blood. (Luke 22:44)
  • Three times the Savior cast Himself upon the mercy of God. (verses 39, 42, 44) (Swindoll)
What a struggle! Don't we tend to focus on the pain of the cross instead of the struggle Jesus had beforehand? Jesus was willing to face the agony on the cross as He surrendered unconditionally to the good and perfect plan of God the Father.

Not as I will, but as You will...Your will be done. (verses 39, 42)

LET IT GROW

As if that wasn't enough to bear, Jesus' three friends fell asleep while Jesus was praying. They were told to be on watch and pray, but didn't last one hour at the task. Three times Jesus found the guys asleep. He reprimanded them for it, then finally the Savior tld them to take rest.

Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. (verse 45)

The interruption of the soldiers caused Jesus, in verse 46, to say, Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray Me.

What keeps staying in the back of my mind is Jesus knew what was planned, what was going to take place, and He was willing to go through it. Such love!

Through the struggles, Jesus still remained faithful to God and His plan-sinless. So Jesus can help us through our struggles.

LET IT GO

Your will,

Your way, today,

I pray.

Use us for Your glory, Your servants, Jesus.

What a wonderful Savior is Jesus, my Jesus!

What a wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord!

Thy Will be Done

N.T.#285 "Thy Will be Done"

April 16, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 10

LET IT GLOW

We left Jesus' disciples at the Mt. of Olives, an olive grove east of Jerusalem. They walked up a steep hill to get there, but they were there, having Jesus' back. Then Jesus told Peter, James, and John, His inner circle and buddies, that He was deeply grieved. Jesus zeroed in on Peter's upcoming denial of knowing Him. Of course, Peter never dreamed that would happen, but it did.

Since Jesus was exceeding sorrowful and very heavy, even unto death, He told the 3 to stay there and watch for Him. Jesus knew the enemy was coming to kill Him. The Savior was in anguish as He considered the wrath of God that would be poured out on Him as He bore the sins of the world on the cross.

All the three guys had to do was watch, to keep awake in order to be prepared for whatever might come. (Falwell) Yet, they failed to do it.

Can we feel the heavy air pressing in on our Beloved Jesus? Have we ever been to that point? Has there been a time we could not pray or breath, carrying such a heavy burden to God that we couldn't say the words. That is when the Holy Spirit intervenes for us at that point.

LET IT GROW

And He went a little farther, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt. (verse 39)

Three times Jesus prayed this prayer. (verses 39, 42, 44) What a heavy burden for One to carry.

What do we learn from Jesus' prayer in verse 39?

  • Jesus went a little farther (to go onward) from the three to pray in private to the Father, His Father.
  • Jesus fell on His face in humility.
  • Jesus prayed, asking His Father If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from Me. (NLT) In His humanity, Jesus preferred that the cup of suffering might pass by Him. If there was possibly another way let it be done. (Don't you think God and Jesus planned His death on the cross before man was created?)
  • Nevertheless (yet; rather; albeit), not as I will (choose or prefer; to determine; rather).
  • But as Thou wilt (fall in with). Jesus' desire was for God's will be done, not His own will be done.
  • They will be done. (verse 42) Will means purpose; decree; a determination; choice in this verse. Ultimately, Jesus wanted to do His Father's will, not His will.
His total submission to the will of the Father caused Jesus to be obedient, even unto a substitutionary death. The Innocent and Righteous One dies for the guilty.  Herein is His ultimate exaltation as Lord. (Phil. 2) (Falwell)

Jesus chose to accomplish His Father's purpose, decree and not His own. Should we be willing to do God's will, also? When we pray, should we include "not my will but Your will be done," right? Friend, If you are carrying a heavy burden, give it to Jesus and let Him carry it. Pray for His will be done.

LET IT GO

Father, Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Please protect Your Beloved Israel from the wickedness and destruction.

A Suffering Savior

N.T.#285 "A Suffering Savior"

April 15, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 9

LET IT GLOW

Think of the most painful thing you have felt. It doesn't compare one smidgen to what pain Jesus felt as He prayed in the Garden at the Mt. of Olives. When we stood outside the fence looking inside at the huge olive trees, I fell on my knees and prayed right there in front of my peers, asking Jesus to forgive my sins that hung Him on the cross. Jesus is a Forgiving Savior.

Jesus told His disciples that they would all desert Him that night. Peter replied that even if everyone else deserted Jesus, he will never desert Jesus. The bad news was given to Peter-this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny 3 times that you even knew Jesus. And it was so. (verse 33-4)

No! Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny You. And all the other disciples vowed the same. (verse 35) Peter said this in New Living Translation.

Peter promised to be more faithful than the others, so later Jesus asked Peter, Lovest thou Me more than these? (John 21:15) Jesus was referring to the other disciples.

Do we love Jesus more than family and friends? Is He number one in our life.

LET IT GROW

Then Jesus had His disciples came to Gethsemane. He told them to sit there while He went and prayed yonder. It was a grove of olive trees, a garden up the hill east of Jerusalem. He took His inner circle of men (Peter, James, John), closest to Him a little further with Jesus. His instructions for the 3 was to tarry and watch with Jesus. At this point, Jesus was sorrowful and very heavy.

Jesus admitted His soul was exceeding (grieved all around; intensely sad) sorrowful, even to the point of death.

Why? Billy Graham explains in his Wisdom For Each Day devotional:

  • Sin must be punished. If God were simply to forgive our sins without judging them, then there would be no justice, no accountability for wrongdoing. God would not be truly holy and just.
  • But if God were simply to judge us for our sins as we deserve, there would be no hope of salvation for any of us. His love would have failed to provide what we need.
  • The cross was the only way to resolve the problem of sin. At the cross God's love and justice came together. Jesus took the punishment we deserved, and now we are clothed in His perfect righteousness.
The weight of the world's sins became heavy to bear. It was a battle between the flesh and spirit in Jesus, I think. He knew what was ahead as Jesus was God in the flesh. No one likes to suffer pain. He had no sins of His own, just grief for our sins. Can we even understand one smidgen of the anguish Jesus went through before the beatings, ridicules, and pain of the nails?

LET IT GO
Such a Gracious God, such a Loving, such a Forgiving God!
Jesus, You blood has washed away my sin, Jesus thank You.
The Father's wrath completely satisfied, Jesus thank You.
Once Your enemy, now seated at Your table, Jesus thank You.

Who Will Remain Faithful?

N.T.#284 "Who will Remain Faithful?"

April 12, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 8

LET IT GLOW

Not only would one of them betray Jesus, but all of them would fall away just as Scripture foretold. He knew beforehand that His disciples would scatter when Jesus was arrested. The Roman "sword" was the military power that put Christ to death.

Zechariah 13:27 says, Sword, awake against My shepherd, against the man who is My associate-this is the declaration of the LORD of Hosts. Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; I will also turn My hand against the little ones.

Just before Jesus' arrest, He quoted from that verse, referring to Himself and His disciples in verses 31-32. And that happened, we know.

The word offended is used 3 times in this segment of Scriptures-verses 31, 33, 33. Jesus told His disciples that all of them would be offended because of Him that very night. (verse 31.

Offended is the Greek word skandalizo, from which we get our word scandlize. It means entrap; trip up (stumble); or entice to sin.

The religious leaders planned to entrap or trip up Jesus, after all, He claimed to be God. We know that is true, but they would not believe it and claim Jesus was blaspheming against God. Yet, Jesus never committed sin.

We know this continues today. False witnesses testify against a believer, actually lying, so one is convicted. What judgment awaits them!

Question: Do we always tell the truth or do we smidge a little towards our favor?  Tax time is upon us. Do we give correct figures on our return? When we do, Christ is honored.

LET IT GROW

Not only did Jesus tell His disciples that a scandal was coming for Him, but also, they would all scatter because of Him. (verse 31) The guys would be scared for their life and run for their life. After all, if they killed Jesus, they could be killed for associating with Him.

What reassurance did Jesus give His followers? But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. (verse 32)

The disciples were to go to Galilee to find Jesus, but He appeared to them at Jerusalem and lead them to Galilee. Jesus appeared to many people after He arose from the dead. After all, He is God's Son, Sno of the Almighty God.

Watch out Peter, control your words. Keep your mouth shut for one, but he didn't. Peter says, Though all men shall be offended because of Thee, yet will I never be offended. (verse 33)

Not me Lord, I will never be enticed to deny You. His famous words, huh? Peter promised to be more faithful than the others, thus later provoking Jesus' question, Lovest thou Me more than these? (John 21:15)

We vow to stick with Jesus until the end, like Peter. We desire to remain faithful to Jesus, yet all we like sheep have gone astray at one time or another. Good News is we have a loving and forgiving Savior. He wilcomes us back with open arms. Then He sets our feet on The Solid Rock.

LET IT GO

How gracious and loving and forgiving You are, Sweet Jesus!

I love You Lord Jesus, for Your mercies never fail me, though I fail You.

What a Wonderful Savior is Jesus, My Jesus!

Giving All

N.T.#283 "Giving All"

April 11, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 7

LET IT GLOW

We are still in the Upper Room with Jesus and His disciples. "It is not I, is it?" the disciples asked Jesus. He gave the hint who it was-the one dipping bread in the relish dish with Him. It was better for Judas if he had never been born. Then, when Judas asked if it was him, Jesus replied, You have said it." (verse 25, NLT)

I wonder if reality hit the disciples when Jesus brake the bread and gave them to Take, eat; this is My body. (verse 26)

The bread of affliction which our fathers ate in the land of Egypt. Jesus knew about the real suffering they went through. Jesus gave His body on the cross as a sacrifice so we can have forgiveness for our sins. He willingly gave it. Such love!

Then, Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many remission of sins. (verse 27-28)

In the Greek language, remission is the word aphesis (of'-es-is) which means freedom, deliverance; pardon; forgiveness; liberty.

the death of Jesus was necessary to enable God to forgive sins. Do you need to be set free from the burden of sin, my friend. Come to Jesus and ask Him to forgive you. He is waiting. What a cost for our redemption! It is a demonstration of grace and mercy for our salvation was not free to Jesus but cost Him everything.

LET IT GROW

What a Redeemer!

We give thanks to Jesus for shedding His blood and body for us so we don't have to pay for our sins. We remember what Jesus did for us as we participate in the Lord's Supper at church. Dear one, have you Jesus as your Savior and Redeemer? What about other family members?

Jesus vowed that He would not drink with His disciples again until His earthly millennial kingdom. (verse 29) (Tony Evans)

And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the Mount of Olives. (verse 30)

Whatever song they sang, the disciples' supper had concluded, and they began the short trip through the city, across the Kidron Valley, to the Mount of Olives. As they did, they stepped into the same dark night that Judas had slithered into earlier. And while they ascended the hill to continue fellowshipping with the King, Israel's long-awaited Messiah, Judas descended into the depths of treachery, seeking to betray the King for a paltry reward. (Swindoll)

Do you have a relationship with Jesus by grace through faith?

LET IT GO

Help us let go of sins in our life so we can be a holy living sacrifice given to You.

We owe You our everything, King Jesus.

The Betrayal Revealed

 N.T.#282 "The Betrayal Revealed"

April 10, 2924

Matthew 26-Part 6

LET IT GLOW

Have you ever been betrayed by a friend? It hurts, really bad it hurts, like a heart cut out pain. Today we will read of Jesus' betraying friend. You probably know who it was.

Matthew wrote about the celebration of the Feast of the Passover which Jesus had with His disciples in the borrowed Upper Room. It would be their last together. Jesus had a lot to say to His men before the capture and trial began. John tells us details in chapter 13-17. It came after their supper together, His washing the disciples' feet, and the betrayer left the group. It was like a private time with the 11 men who would carry on the work of Christ. Jesus spoke of the Comforter coming, He would be the Intercessor, and loving God and others. That gives us something to look forward to, the study of the book of John.

We can't skip over verse 19, And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the Passover.

Peter and John went out into the city to find the man carrying water, the one who owned the Upper Room. (verse 18)

Do we have a problem with obeying the Master Jesus?  Are we willing to do what it takes to accomplish His will in our life?

LET IT GROW

While the 13 men ate, Jesus enlightened them what was about to take place:

  • Jesus informed the group that one of you shall betray Me. (verse 21) I figure they had no idea that Judas made a deal to tell the religious leaders where Jesus was for 30 pieces of silver.
  • How did the disciples react? They were exceeding sorrowful. (verse 22a)
  • Then everyone of them asked if it was them. (verse 22b)
  • Jesus revealed who the betrayer was-He that dippeth his hand with Me in the dish, the same shall betray Me.
  • Jesus went on to say, woe unto the man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It had been good for that men if he had not been born. (verse 24)
  • When Judas asked if it was him, Jesus said, Thou hast said. (verse 25)
Don't you know it was an intense moment for the disciples to hear one of them would betray their Master? And for Jesus to know it was so, how must He have felt? One of His own men who saw Jesus perform miracles, listened to His teachings, walked with Him would turn Him over to beatings and death on the cross. Yet, it was Jesus' destiny. He had come for this.

Did you catch the phrase that the disciples were exceeding sorrowful?
Exceeding means whelmingly; in a high degree; greatly.

It is a different Greek word which John used to describe Jesus' soul being exceeding sorrowful when going to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Exceeding means grieved all around; intensely sad.

Jesus was referring to the dipping of the bread into the relish bowl , that Judas and He did at the same time as a sign of who was the betrayer. How difficult it would have been for Jesus to sit at the table with Judas!
Psalm 41:9 refers to this, Even my friend in whom I trusted, one who ate My bread, has raised his heel against Me.

It especially hurts when a friend or spouse betrays you. Maybe they showed themself unfaithful in sharing a secret. Maybe it was an unfaithful spouse. Do we forgive them?
How many times have we betrayed Jesus and turned to the world?

LET IT GO

Please for us Lord when we fail you.

An Amazing Plan by an Amazing God

N.T.#281 "An Amazing Plan by an Amazing God"

April 9, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 5

LET IT GLOW

We left Judas making the betraial deal with the religious leaders for 30 pieces of silver. Jesus sent Peter and John to get the upper room and preparations for their Passover meal. Jesus told the two guys who would help them with the task-the man with a pitcher of water on the streets of Jerusalem. They were to ask the man where his guestchamber was so they could prepare to eat the Passover there. Tell him the Master wanted the room so He could eat the Passover with His disciples. (Luke 22:1-13)

The Jewish Passover meal consisted of a cup of wine, unleavened bread, roasted lamb, butter leafy herbs, and sweet relish for each person. Jesus would have reviewed the incidence of the Hebrews being freed from the slavery in Egypt . They did not have this meal in Bethany, for it wasn't time for the betrayal. (Judas would not have known where the upper room was so he could tell the religious ones Jesus location.) There were things for Jesus to accomplish before that happened.

Did you notice Jesus had those last events of His life on earth planned out? He has ours, too.

I have seen pictures of the eclipse yesterday. We were at church and in our area, it was not seen as a total one. We didn't have glasses to protect our eyes. My conclusion is God shows off His creation and control. If He can align the sun, moon, and earth together for a few moments, can't He align our life with His will? We just need to surrender and trust Him to lead us daily. (A family member lives in Indiana where they saw it total.) I wonder how many people acknowledged God as having done it.

LET IT GROW

These events are recorded in Luke 22:

  • Jesus told the disciples that He would not eat and drink wine until the fulfilling of the kingdom of God happens.(verses 16, 18)
  • Jesus gave thanks and brake the bread, saying this is my body which is given for you; this do in remembrance of Me. (verse 19)
  • The broken bread represented Christ's broken body given for us at Calvary.
  • Likewise He gook the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you. (verse 20)
  • The cup of wine represented the blood which Jesus would shed for us on the cross.

Jeremiah31:31-34 NLT says, The day is coming when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. I will put My instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people. For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know Me already. I will for give their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.

What a promise of the Messiah who came to fulfill the Old Testament. Back then, Jesus promised to restore Israel to their land, forgive their sin, and rule over them. Believers in Jesus receive salvation through the broken body and shed blood which He did for us sinners. Dear one, have you asked Jesus to forgive your sins and be your Savior?

LET IT GO

We give thanks for Your sacrifice of Your life for us-the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

Such an amazing plan carried out by an amazing God.

Mmm.

May we lay down our life for You to use as a living sacrifice for Your glory.

Letting Go

 N.T.#280 "Letting Go"

April 8, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 4

LET IT GLOW

There are times that it has been easy to let go of something for kingdom work, but other times it has been hard. How about you? Is God asking something of you to let go of for His purpose?

We left Jesus and His disciples in Bethany eating at the house of Simon, who previously had leprosy. Mary came with an expensive perfume jar of alabaster. She broke the jar and poured the perfume over Jesus head. (It was worth a year's wages.) What a sacrifice given to Jesus to anoint His body for burial. It would not go unnoticed, though, for Jesus said it would be remembered and discussed wherever the Good News is preached. (verses 3-9) Mary's act was a good work, for the poor would always be with us. (verses 10-11)

The disciples had been critical for this act due to the fact the perfume could have been sold and the money given to the poor. (I wonder if Judas instigated that.) After all, he kept the money bag. One of Jesus' disciples,

Then, Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests. He asked, "How much will your pay me to betray Jesus to you?" (verse 15

Is there something that the devil can wave under our nose and cause us to betray Jesus?

Luke tells us Satan entered into Judas Iscariot before he went to the religious leaders. (Luke 22:3) They gave Judas 30 pieces of silver, which he apparently did not spend. From that time on, Judas looked for an opportunity to betray Jesus so they could arrest Him when the crowds were not around.

How strong is our faith in Jesus?

LET IT GROW

Luke 22 gives us more detail of this event of the Passover eaten in the upper room with Jesus and His disciples. He sent John and Peeter to find a man with a pitcher who had the private guest room ready. The man is not named like the man who gave the donkeys for Jesus to ride on when entering Jerusalem. They gave to the Savior what He needed.

Are we willing to give to Jesus what He asks of us to give for kingdom work? Corrie Ten Boom said she did not hold things too tightly, for when the Master required it, it would be easy to open her hand and give it.

Friend, are you faithful in tithing? Do you give offerings for special needs? Is Jesus asking you to give up something so He can use it for His glory? What about your children and grandchildren-give them to Jesus to use for His purpose.

LET IT GO

Help us let go of every single thing and let God take over.

All belongs to You.

Bless those who give for Your Kingdom work.

A Sacrifice of Perfume

N.T.#279 "A Sarifice of Perfume"

April 5, 2024

Matthew 26-Part 3

LET IT GLOW

I like perfume. If you saw my dresser and its top drawer, you would come to that conclusion. One in today's lesson gave her most precious possession to her Lord.

Two days before the Passover, slaying of the lambs for the sins of the Jews, and the crucifixion of the Lamb of God, Jesus, the religious heads met at Caiaphas' house to plot the betrayer of Jesus. The high priest had his guys in charge come meet with him. They decided not to capture Jesus for the cross while the celebration of the Passover was going on, for there could be a riot.

Meantime, Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper. (He could have been the father of Lazarus, Mary, and Martha.) Perhaps this was a meal to thank Jesus for all he had done for Simon and Lazarus. something significant happened there-Mary poured here beautiful alabaster jar of expensive perfume and poured it over Jesus' head. (verse 7) This perfume was extracted from the root of the nard plant in India, which was a costly import. It would have taken a year's wages to purchase it. (I wonder if it was from Mary's hope chest, as she hoped to get married one day.)

The disciples were indignant when they saw this. They called it a waste. The perfume could have been sold for a year's wages and the money given to the poor, their reasoning came through. (Sounds like Judas, thinking of money at a time like this.) John tells us (12:3) that Mary anointed Jesus feet, too, then wiped it with her hair. The room filled with the perfume. What a reminder of Jesus' death coming soon. (The perfume was one used for a dead body to hide the stink.)

LET IT GROW

Mary had previously sat at the feet of Jesus listening as He taught the disciples. (Martha was cooking the food for the meal and complained to Jesus that Mary was not helping her.) What an unselfish gift Mary gave to her Lord. Mary was preparing Jesus' body for burial. (verse 12) Jesus acknowledged her sacrifice. He saw into her loving heart.

How did Jesus respond to the reactions of Mary's good action? (New Living Translation)

Why criticize this woman for doing such a good thing tor Jesus? (verse 10)

You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have Me. (verse 11)

She has poured this perfume on Me to prepare My body for burial. (verse 12)

I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman's deed will be remembered and discussed. (verses 13)

What an act of worship for the true Messiah, the Anointed One. Isn't Jesus worthy of our all? What can we give to Him that is precious to us? How is our devotion to Jesus?

LET IT GO

Jesus, You are worthy of our worship and praises!

Jesus, Lamb of God, worthy is Your name of praise and glory!

You are my all in all!

Help us keep Your Truth, walk in Your ways, keep the first thing first-Loving Savior

What is Going on Behind the Scenes?

N.T.#278 "What is Going on Behind the Scenes?"

 April 4, 3034

Matthew 26-Part 2

LET IT GLOW

What happened two days before the feast of the Passover?

Jesus told His disciples, the Son of Man is betrayed to be curcified. (verse 2)

Betrayed means delivered up; to surrender.

Crucified means to extinguish (subdue); passion.

This was the seventh time Jesus forewarned His disciples. (16:21; 17:12, 22-23; 20:18-19, 22-23; 21:38-39) Did it sink in at the time? Did the disciples finally understand what was going to happen to Jesus and why He was going to experience this? Or did Jesus' followers finally see why Jesus would die on the cross? Why would the Son of God do this?

I lay down My life so that I may take it again. No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I receive from My Father. (John 10:17-18)

Jesus was willing to lay down His life, shed His blood, as our sacrifice for our sins. Such love! He who knew no sin became our sin so we might become His righteousness. Have you asked Jesus to forgive your sins and become your Savior? He is only a prayer away.

LET IT GROW

Suddenly in verses 3-5, Matthew changes his scenery and drops in at the high priest's house, Caiaphas. What is going on there?

  • The chief priests, scribes, and elders of the people are assembled there. (verse 3)
  • They were consulting together for one purpose-to take Jesus by subtilty and kill Him. (Subtilty means a trick; deceit; craft.)
  • A conspiracy was in motion led by Caiaphas. He was behind the attempts to hinder or trap Jesus, question His integrity, and weaken Jesus' influence.
  • These religious elites were bent on protecting their power and promoting their personal interests.
  • Large crowds were in Jerusalem for the Passover, so any arrest would result in a riot. (verse 5)
  • Also, they did not know where Jesus and His disciples went when they retired for the evening. (John 18:1-2)
  • So the plan was to lay low while the Jews departed Jerusalem. Then when the time was right, Jesus and maybe some of His companions would simply disappear. (Swindoll)
Actually, it wa all going as planned-God the Father and Jesus the Son. I figure the devil considered he was working behind the scenes, stirring up hate. I wish we could have been studying this before Easter, yet it makes it clear for us, the Great I AM is in control. Jesus knew He would rise from death when He was living His final week on earth.

LET IT GO

Who am I that the King of the world would give one single thought of my broken heart?

Come as you are.

Jesus, You paid the price, gave Your life, with me on Your mind.

Precious Redeemer and Savior, we praise You.

A Perfect Plan For a Perfect Lamb

N.T.#277 "A Perfect Plan For a Perfect Lamb"

April 3, 2024

Matthew 26

LET IT GLOW

We can look ahead and read what is going to happen in these last three chapters. They contain the plot of the priests, the anointing of the Lord Jesus in Bethany, the betrayal, of Jesus the institution of the Lord's Supper, the agony in the Garden, the Lord's arrest, His trial before the priests, Peter's denial, the trial before Pilate, and finally the crucifixion and resurrection. (Falwell)

The Passover feast was just two days away. It is the first feast on the Jewish calendar and kept in remembrance of Israel being delivered from slavery in Egypt and death of the first-born as they applied blood of the Passover lamb over their doorposts.

What a perfect plan of God for the Perfect Lamb of God to be killed , our offering for our sins. Jesus fulfilled the requirements for God to forgive sin.

No fewer than six time, Jesus had already mentioned-either directly or indirectly-the fact of His coming suffering and death at the hands of men. (16:21; 17:12, 22-23; 20:18-19, 22-23; 21:38-39) (Swindoll)

In spite of the wicked plotting for their own twisted purposes, nothing happens outside of God's sovereign will or contrary to His own timetable.

In John 10:17-18, Jesus says He lay down His life, no one took it away, but it was by His own initiative and authority that He lay it down and take it up again.

LET IT GROW

Doesn't this give us a different perspective on our own suffering and the suffering of our loved ones? God has a plan and purpose for our life and death. When it isn't time for us to die, we will live. I am a living testimony of that. At least 4 times I could have died-after surgery when I stopped breathing, after a test that depleted my potassium and my heart could have stopped, during the Covid vaccine going through my heart and lungs, and when a car collided with ours on my side. Praise be to God our Father, the giver and sustainer of life! That is why I want to do God's will, His way, for His glory! I owe Him my everything, my very life!

Friend, are you a believer in Jesus as Savior, Messiah, Giver of Life? In a second, your life can end. Where will you spend eternity?

LET IT GO

How gracious, loving, and kind You are, my Redeemer!

You are so merciful and gracious.

Holy is the Lamb of God who takes away my sins-Jesus Christ!

We love You! Use us today to share hope and love with those who need it.

Sheep and Goats

N.T.#276 "Sheep and Goats"

April 2, 2024

Matthew 23-Part 3

LET IT GLOW

There is no substitute for spiritual preparation. It equips us for unforseen crises or opportunities. Christ will sustain us when we have developed a quality relationship with Him. If we are unprepared, we will be vulnerable in life's unexpected events. (Blackaby)

Have you had an encounter with God through Jesus? First comes the Rapture of the Christian Believers, then the Great Tribulation, then,, the return of Christ for His millennial reign as King, finally, the Great White Throne Judgment of all nations.. Chances are, we will be alive during one of those events.

In verses 31-46, we read about the judgment of the nations, which involves:

  • The son of Man (Jesus Christ) comes in His glory and with all the angels to sit upon His glorious throne.
  • All the nations (Gentile; heathen; people; a foreign non-Jewish) will be separated, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. Sheep will be on the right and goats will be on the left.

What is the contrast between the sheep and the goats?

Then shall the Kiong say unto them on His right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. (verse 34)

Their acceptance seems to be according to their acts of kindness: feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, caring for the stranger, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned. They asked when they did such things. Jesus said, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done in unto Me. (verse 40)

Are we showing love to others through our words and works, thus showing love to our Savior? How we treat others is how we are treating Jesus. What a joyful time for those faithful servants! Are we showing practical love and service, expressing our faith in Jesus?

LET IT GROW

The contrast is with the goats on Jesus' left. They did not do those things listed, so there will be no rewards because of their unfaithfulness in using God's resources. they have nothing to show for their life, so they have no eternal rewards.

The goats will have eternal fire with the devil and his angels. (verse 41)

Those faithful sheep, righteous, will have life eternal, but the goats will have everlasting punishment.

Keep in mind that love for others glorifies God by reflecting our love for Him.

In which group will we be?

LET IT GO

Help us stay faithful to You, Jesus.

Fill us with Your love for others.

Which Kind of Servant Are We?

N.T. #275 "Which Kind of Servant Are We?"

April 1, 2024

Matthew 25-Part 2

LET IT GLOW

Here is a parable of the talents or the story of three servants. A man was going on a long trip. He entrusted his money to 3 servants while he was gone. What was each given, according to their abilities, and how did they use what they were given?

  1. The first servant was given 5 bas of silver or a talent (75 pounds), He invested the gift and doubled the amount received. Therefore, the master called the servant a good and faithful servant, for he was faithful in handling a small amount, thus, given more responsibilities.
  2. The same thing happened to the second servant, only he was given 2 talents, yet doubled its amount. Both pleased their master and they celebrated together.
  3. The third servant was given only 1 talent, but used it in a different way. He didn't invest it, but hid the talent, afraid of losing the master's money. The servant called the master a harsh man who harvested crops that he didn't plant and gathered crops he didn't cultivate. We have to give the man credit for not squandering  it. The master said the servant could have at least deposited the money in the bank to gain interest. This was a wicked and slothful servant, caste into outer darkness where weeping and gnashing of teeth is-hell.
Which servant are we like? What talents and spiritual gifts has Jesus given to us to be used for kingdom agenda? Are we a faithful servant or a slothful one?

LET IT GROW

What can we learn from this?

  • Jesus is our King who expects us to love faithfully with a kingdom agenda. One day He will call us by name and we have to give an account for the use of our time, talents, and treasures.
  • The faithful servant will receive rewards.
  • The unfaithful servant will not receive rewards.
How do we respond to what we have heard? Is our salvation by faith in Christ alone? Are we living as if Jesus will call us home this very moment? Is our heart new living with the Holy Spirit?

LET IT GO

I let go of all and let You, Jesus take over.

To You be the glory forever.
